You can make perfect circles. You put a pole in the middle, tie a rope to the pole and simple scrape the snow of the ice while walking around the pole and holding the end of the rope. The larger the rope, the larger the circle. And these aren't even that intricate, they're simply circles afterall. The snow is very very light and easily brushed off the ice as there is little water content within the ice due to there very cold conditions. At these temps, the snow is like dust particles. Very very light. I have no idea why someone would do it, possibly boredom, it is Siberia afterall. But, to say it isn't possible is ignorance. It's extremely possible, if one could face the harsh cold. People do live in Siberia and survive there.
