2:20 that image of the guy sitting on the side of the planet reminded me of something i used to do when i was younger. i live in the uk, and sometimes i used to lie on my back on the grass on a sunny day, just looking up at the sky. suddenly the thought would pop in my head of where the country is on the planet, the uk is kinda on the side but at the top, but still on the side. all of a sudden i would get this strange feeling of actually being upright whilst laying down, and feeling like i was stuck to the side of the planet, so even though im looking up at the sky, i felt like i was looking sideways from the planet if you know what i mean, and if i looked "down" at my feet, i'd get this feeling of "oh shit, i could slide off the planet at any moment" totally ignoring how gravity works. it feels kinda similar to how it feels inside one of those 'Rotor' rides at a fairground where it spins and the floor opens up, but you don't fall down cuz your stuck to the wall through centrifugal force, except, you r stuck to the planet through gravity. its a mad sensation, and is even better on a clear as hell night in a place with no light pollution so you can see every star almost. it doesnt feel like your looking up at space, but out at space. its mad, weird, and cool feeling all at the same time.

I really want to make a "Ten Levels of Calendar Math Complexity" video, because there's a ton of fascinating stuff this video leaves out. The solar year is a different length depending on which point in Earth's rotation you choose to measure from, because seasons are slightly different lengths (up to about an hour difference!) due to Earth's elliptical orbit, spreading precession out unevenly between the seasons. While the amount of time it takes the Earth to orbit the Sun is mostly constant, the length of a mean solar day changes over time, so the number of days per year isn't constant; this means that the Gregorian calendar will actually drift much quicker then a simple calculation would suggest, and in fact no fixed leap year rule will last more then about 10,000 years. There's some really interesting math behind choices of leap cycles, relating to different ways of approximating numbers as fractions. Also, months and all of their complexities. It's fun.

About Vsauce's knowledge of helical orbit : Search on KZbin for a playlist by Scientific American called "Our place in the solar sytem - KZbin Space Lab". In 2011, thanks to mainstream science knowledge, the solar system according to Michael Stevens of Vsauce in that playlist, was like the one Nat Geo shows in the 2nd video in it at 0:54 - ellipses and yellow sun :-) Next search for a video of Vsauce called "What if the sun disappeared" of 2013 and at 1:49 you see ellipses and yellow sun. LOL. Same story in his 2014 video, "What is the earth worth ?" at 4:07. Fortunately, in 2016, he seems to have acquired better knowledge and shows helical orbit in the video called "How Earth Moves". I won't be surprised if the viral video of music dj Sadhu's helical orbits played any part in it, bcos in 2015, Sadhu’s corrected part-2 video was released and astrophysicist Rhys Taylor gave it more credibility. Timelines tell an interesting story. Anyway, it is a good development.

It would have cost you a whopping zero dollars, and zero cents not to say that... But you did? why? why did you waste valuable seconds of your life? you could have been playing outside, coded a game, or spent time with your girl/boyfriend (in the extremely low chance you even have one due to the current state of your IQ, I might add). in fact, due to wasting seconds writing this, you are also as money, as well as time. Also, why did you add that emoji? I mean, it's not like you did something "cool" or, roasted someone. and after writing this whole paragraph, I have indeed realized that you, a simple-minded creature, are not even remotely worth my time. like, at all. Also, one more thing; since you are the type of person to like your own comment, ill ask you to stop. It just makes you get destroyed for breaking the peace. If I were you, I would stop arguing with me, and admit defeat. You already lost. And since your 4.5 brain cells probably can't for the life of you, understand what I just said. To make things easier on your end, let me put it simply; stop. Just stop. You (might) have already realized this, but you have messed up. Being mean to @linuxdirk's comment doesn't make you special. the most you will get from this is the 2 likes you already have. The best you can do is apologize for being a jerk to said @linuxdirk, and walk away. you won't be victorious from this war. I realize while typing this that many people will say I'm a crazy fool to suggest such a thing. If not to show the truth could he make a video that he is able to respectfully disprove: 200 Proofs the Earth is Not a Spinning Ball By: Eric Dubay or watch his video here on youtube or many other videos he has put out on the subject. The truth shouldn't run or worry about investigation. Also I'd like to point out, if the thought that yes people thought the Earth was flat for 1000s of years...but we are smarter now we know more now. Id like to point out that the accuracy that was used in building the pyramids was so precice it can't be achieved even today. The blocks are cut so accurately that something as small as a human hair can't be slipped between them. So the people 1000s of years ago were not dumb by any means.. @Daniel Vela gravity. Just look it up instead of asking people who probably aren't even going to reply to your comment

@Daniel Vela We know it's not a disc because the apparent motion of the sun, moon and stars makes no sense. Because we can take a telescope and look at the moons of Jupiter (first observed in 1610 - no NASA back then). Because you can take latitude and longitude coordinates for any place on earth and there would be no question as to which position you were referring to. The distance between two degrees of latitude increases as you get to the equator and decreases as you move away. Easily verifiable by anyone with rudientary tools. And finally (for this list anyway) because the area of daylight over the earth which changes from day to day and season to season is explained only by the globe model. The fact that the FE model con't come close to explaining any of this is why no-one with a middle-school understanding of science or better belkieves in a flat earth.

@Daniel Vela Only problem is you have never been to Antarctica and you never will. There are ACTUAL photos of the ice wall though compared to the CGI cartoons NASA is always pushing out their as reality. CGI cartoons are not reality.

You need to talk about the great attractor now, that thing seems fascinating...

Does it have to be an attractor? I was taught we're pushed away from the center. O well. I know nothing anyway
@tylisirn8 жыл бұрын
The Great Attractor is an invisible concentration of mass equal to tens of thousands of galaxies, roughly 150-250 million lightyears thataway. We know this because we can see its gravitational attraction (hence the name) in the entire area of the universe about a billion light years across and this is *ALL* we know about it. Everything. Absolutely everything. What is it? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ How did it form? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ What is it made out of? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Maybe dark matter What will happen to it in the future? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
