Weldings is 90 percent prep and 10 percent welding

That's a common saying in welding. It highlights the importance of proper preparation, which includes cleaning, fitting, and aligning materials before welding.

For those hating on James’ analysis. Just stop. Welding is the same as a nurse, a janitor a Server at Applebees. You can choose to be just good enough to make money doing that job. Or you can choose to be exceptional. Top tier. Welding is different in that there are so many paths you can take and depending upon the path you choose as a welder, AND THE EFFORT YOU MAKE TO BE THE BEST AT YOUR CRAFT, you can make more money than the previously mentioned jobs. The money you can make as a welder is incredible. BUT ITS UP TO YOU AS A WELDER. You need to choose from the start. Do you want to be average. Just good enough to be paid as a welder and claim the title. Or do you want to be exceptional and the top 10/20% in your craft. Appreciate what yall fellas do at western welding.

Question for the experts in the comments, what would you consider the best mig dual shield wire for hard facing crusher claws? while on site
@WesternWeldingAcademy3 ай бұрын
ESAB Dual Shield 7100 Ultra or Lincoln Lincore 60-G are top choices for hard-facing crusher claws on-site due to their abrasion resistance and toughness.

@@kevlartheweldingwarriori understand that but why are the base rates so low in comparision to something that is pretty mindless, where welding requires skill and coordination. I totally understand its how far you take it just as anything but idk the base seems quite low considering what is being done

I'm fully retired but welded offshore drill rigs pipe and valve assembly. Power Stations Turbine and Generator ends super heated steam, 80mm wall thickness 1.25 chrome moly. Dragline Booms. Gas and Petro Chem plants. You tell me what that's worth in 2024 ?
@leltrash56833 ай бұрын
It's impossible to tell someone what they are worth based on this information. People can fake it to make it and they do all the time. The only way to tell you what you are worth is by posting footage of your personal work and welds.
@BigBopper-zm1kf3 ай бұрын
@leltrash5683 Too late but nobody can fake it when it's stressed relieved and documented, ultra sonic and documented then xray after the stress relieving phase. Nobody can fake it on a Bycyrus Pipe Main Chord that is 100% xray. Nobody gets to fake it on offshore drill rigs. Maybe you were on handrails when you told everyone you were tube welding. 🤔 I don't know but I can assure you it's impossible to fake when it's meticulously tested.

Does anyone know if there are a lot of welding jobs in Wyoming/Montana are and in demand? If so what type of weld work?
@WesternWeldingAcademy3 ай бұрын
Yes, welding jobs are in demand in Wyoming and Montana, especially in pipeline welding, structural welding, and mining equipment repair due to the strong presence of the energy and construction industries in these areas. There's a consistent need for skilled welders in these sectors, particularly for remote and industrial projects. If you're experienced in these fields, there's definitely work to be found in this region.

I’m just gonna guess what happened with that stubby finger and say metabo blade or shear press. I welded pipe in the field for 35 years, chemical plants, refineries, pipelines etc. I have an onsite welding business now at 57 years old and I enjoy watching your videos man most of all watching you guys teaching the younger gen. to hand my stinger off to.
