it's actually a whistling sound. Aztec warriors made skull shaped whistles that sounded like that, and would blow into them as a battle cry to scare their opponents. They're called Aztec death whistles, in case you want to google them

My great grandpa is Leroy Smith, one of the original miners. I've recently learned about his story and my grandma has made it known to us about what happened that day. I've always known we had ties to Bigfoot stories but I had no idea just how monumental his story was. I'm 90% sure my dad has the same rifle that leroy used to shoot at the "mountain devils" in the story. My grandpa had a gold mining claim called the Vander white that they eventually abandoned because of this incident. I plan on going to this location this spring to see what I can find. Update: my little brother, my cousin, and myself, after reaching the cabin site, successfully found the lost gold mine! While mostly buried over the last 100 years and the 1980 eruption, it looks like it can be excavated to gain entry. We are waiting to hear back about permits from the Gifford pinchot national forest to legally begin the process. We're slowly doing a few podcasts with people to get the story out, along with pictures! But due to the sensitive nature we have to protect this location, so please don't ask. We won't tell you where it is. Unless of course Mr Ballin wants to go for a hike 😉

Mr Ballen, I’ve just turned 70 years old and 53 of those years were spend the Appalachians Mountains of Southern WV as a dedicated outdoorsman and hunted just about everything that there was a season to hunt, and one deer season in 2007-08 at the end of the day as I was packing my hunting paraphernalia and listening to some owners dogs on the opposite side of the Gauley River barking at his arrival some Coyotes desided to joining the choir and then out from some 100 yards or better came the most horrifying mixed howling and growling close to the sound that Tarzan would have made but so amplified that the forest when silent, the Coyotes and the dogs went quiet the only thing I could hear in the distance was The Gauley River and it was like no other sound in my entire 53 years of hunting the most rugged terrain of Southern West by God Virginia and to this day here in the Dominican Republic my hairs stands on its ends when I’d think about it.

Your story telling is truly inspiring and reminds me how important and how much of an art it really is. 3. I’m adhd and often need to go back to relisten to details of stories but I almost never need to do that with your stories (if I do go back it’s usually to laugh at you laughing at yourself during ads - crazy thing - you make ads entertaining? 😱⭐️) 4. I’ve never ‘not believed’ in Bigfoot per se but no story has ever made me think ‘yep Bigfoot is real’ … until right now! Terrifying and surreal! Keep the strange dark and mysterious a’coming! ❤️👍

Here in Oregon about 15 years ago a friend went with me to hang our stands and throw out apples during late season bow hunt, we got my stand up, threw about 100 apples all around my hunting area, by the time we got that done it was getting close to evening and we didn’t have time to get my friends stand to his spot and hang it so we decided to stash his stand in the brush and go hang it late morning the next day. Next morning we get up there to grab his stand we stashed and we got to my spot to grab his stand the strangest thing happened, all those apples were gone, I mean every apple, and directly under my stand is a dead deer, antlers ripped from its head, we checked the deer for bullet holes or other wounds and nothing, I got real freaked out, told my buddy I’m taking my stand down and getting outta here, to this day I’ve never gone back to that area

There is a story from Trout, Louisiana about a man who ran over or into one of these creatures. It stood up and ran off into the woods. The search and rescue unit from the Shreveport Fire Department arrived with tracking dogs because they thought that it might have been a person; however, the dogs followed the scent until it disappeared into the swamp. These sightings are not bears folks! Their tracks sometimes have primate ridges, swirls, bifurcations, and tenting like other primate finger prints and foot prints exhibit. Bears do not.

I thought my mom was checking up on me when i heard light footsteps coming up to me bed, i was facing away, so i played possum, then something sat on my feet but not hard, more like a pillow being pressed down but the springs in the bed creeked amd the middle stiffened up as the sides of my bed were also pressed down. It changed my life and still, though i have tried and studied every bullshit scientific theory, i cannot explain it away and more weird things happened to my father when he was young. There are so many of us and all we get is ridicule from those who deny this stuff exists. How can thousands of reliable witnesses be wrong. My dad claims one time in his early twenties that he was stalked by a bigfoot in the Ozark area of Arkansas. He was out fishing late one night and it was around midnight or so when he decided he was done and was walking back home. Still in the woods he heard something heavy following him on the other side of the river. When he looked over he couldn't see anything in the trees, but when he stopped whatever was following him stopped too. Thinking it was a bear or mountain lion about to charge across the shallow waters to get him, he chucked a rock in hopes that it would scare the creature away... But it threw a rock back. My dad hustled out of there as fast as he could and by the time he made it to the road the creature was gone. I understand a bear following him, but a bear wouldn't be able to throw a rock back and the creature sounded too big to be a human to him. Ever since that day my dad's been obsessed woth bigfoot.

Sorry if this is kinda long but it's a two part story.. MY story. A few years ago my dad took me and my son up camping in..... you guessed it upper Oregon. Now I've been camping here all my then 37 years of life, felt comfortable there and LOVED walking in the woods. There was no camping sites except for a few open still since it was September but the one my dad picked was a far into the mountain. Now I LOVE scar stories and for some reason binge watched Bigfoot camping horror stories right before this trip 😅. Okay so it was the second day and my son was bored and wanted to go find my dad who was fishing a little up a dirt trail. We got our shoes on and set off. There was a fork in the road and we picked the one most traveled. A little while later no more than 10 minutes go by and my son stops DEAD in the middle of the trail and whispers "did you hear that?" now having just ran into my kid who was whispering for some reason, I got annoyed. I shook my head no and sighing, rolling my eyes I gave him a little shove and told him to keep going. NOT EVEN 15 seconds later and out of nowhere I hear a growl. Not a dog or cougar growl but kind of like a bear. Now we BOTH stop dead and I take a deep breath and sorta laugh, and say "Well maybe it's nothing. it's probably more scared of us than we are of it" and I took 2 steps forward and the only way I can describe it is, two trees being rubbed together, like someone had grabbed two HUGE trees and were griding them together. We both whirled around and while shoving my son saying DON'T RUN, but don't walk slow, we headed back up the trail. I can still see the big dark THING walking back and fourth behind us. it was making sure we were actually leaving. when we got to the head of the trail everything STOPPED. The pacing behind us, the low growl stopped and we both heard it going back. Now my son and I looked at each other and laughed not knowing what to do. Okay now the second part (which has me more scared than the first! which is why I'm super hesitant to EVER go camping again, I'm actually shaking writing this I'm still so scared), I have HORRIBLE trouble falling asleep when camping, I have to read and listen to music until I pretty much pass out. I'd say it was around 4:45 since my dad hadn't woken up yet and I sat up in his tent trailer GASPING. I smelled cigarette smoke, and my dad is NOT one to smoke and I'm deathly allergic to it. I had to grab my inhaler and ripped my headphones off and stopped dead. It was DEAD silent, no crickets, no bugs chirping the only sound was the running brook. Frowning I laid back down and had to read my book, swearing that I heard footsteps stop right near where my head was/ My dad had only a canvas pop up tent trailer and the canvas was secured right near where my head was. I finally fell back asleep by 5:30 or so and woke up to breakfast. We had to leave later around 9 am to get back so I could go to work the next day and when we were breaking down camp I had dropped my book and when I bent down to pick it up I smelled smoke again. I looked around and on a log no joke not even 2 feet from where my feet were earlier that night were 8 cigarettes all burned down to the filter just laying on the log. There had been someone sitting there SMOKING cigarettes sometime in the early morning while me, my son and dad slept not even 4 feet away. Thank GOD that they didn't try the door or they would have found it unlocked. the lock was busted. Who knows maybe they did, but the camper didn't rock suddenly. After this I told my mom I'd only go with my dad camping if I could bring a gun, I didn't tell her or anyone the second part no one in my family knows still 4 years later. I told them we almost ran into a bear

When I watched the video of Mike Wooley telling his story, there was no doubt in my mind that this man was telling the absolute truth. A 50 something year old man, shaking and tearing up as he related the events of that day. My hair stood on end listening to him. It's important to note that Mike was an avid hunter who went into the woods 3 or 4 times a week to hunt. He has never gone hunting again. He had people ask him, of course "Why didn't you just shoot it Mike" He was adamant in saying he could not. It was too human. And told these people that he doubted they could have either. Fascinating story and I could hear the fear in this man's voice all these years later. Thanks John. Great video as usual

Also, being raised in the mountains and dense forests of Oregon and Washington, there was a man named Bill, he was like a 2nd father to me. Bill was a great man who taught me how to survive and live off the land out there gave me One hard and fast rule. I have never repeated this rule to anyone until this very moment. Whether your backpacking, camping, or hunting/fishing, and your area is secluded, make sure and take with you a small bag of locally grown fruit, locally grown apples work the best. If you happen to come across a large animal you have never seen before, DO NOT RAISE YOUR FIREARM, keep your eyes on its feet, don't look it in the eye (it will see this as a challenge), hold your hand up, palm up and empty for a second (this says you are a friend and not going to hurt it, challenge it or it's family), and then retrieve the bag of apples. Keep watching the animals feet as you pour out the apples into a pile, although it's better to stack them on a log, tree stump, or big Boulder. As you get up don't look at the animals face, show the animal both your palms as you slowly get up and back away. Do not stand fully up but stay bent partially over as you back away. Watch where your going behind you of course, and when you have gotten several yards away then you should be able to turn and quickly walk further away until you are out of sight. Then you can run. During this whole time though Never make eye contact Never make any loud noises Never advance forward Never make any agressive moves Show the palms of your hands as many times as you can Always pack any plastic out Bill told me this DOES NOT WORK for Bear, Cougar, or Wolves and not to worry about Deer, Elk, Caribou, Bison, or Moose. He said he had to use this technique a few times and that it does work. When I asked him, WTF he was talking about because he had named off all the animals that might possibly be in our forests there, Bill looked at me like he had never looked at me before and I could tell he was both very serious and maybe somewhat fearful and very sternly said, "Those aren't all the animals out there"! And if I were to "run into" big enormous animals I hadn't seen before they were probably just as curious, nervous, and scared as any of us would be.

I dunno what animals exist in your forest but it depends what animal is attacking you. There isn't a universal book on how to survive an animal attack....for example staying silent and not being agressive towards a wolf is going to get you killed. For animals like wolfs and black bears you NEED to be agressive and yell. For a grizzly/brown bear you need to curl up into a ball and talk softly, showing your palms isn't gonna do anything for a grizzly. Nonetheless cool guy

I used to live in a pretty heavily wooded area. I pretty much had no parental supervision so I just roamed the countryside. I used to hike far into the woods because their was old abandoned homes and sometimes cars. I used to be amazed by this because there was clearly no roads or even trails. Anyway on one of my all day adventures I came out of some very think woods where apparently there was a patch of sand in a predominantly clay area. The tall pine trees took full advantage. It was very strange because the pines where almost in rows. I had amazing vision, I still have better than 20/20 at 41yrs old. As I was walking I seen the slightest movement. I froze and just stared. I could see a black ball of fur just to the side of the tree. It was to far up to be a person. I thought maybe it was something clinging to the side of the tree. I brought my hands up slowly to my face to make binoculars to limit my field of view. My grandpa taught my this. Just as my fingers moved in front of my line of sight, it was gone. I started to get a very uneasy feeling. The hair rose on my neck and I got goosebumps. I remember feeling like a cat was stalking me. Maybe a 100yrds there was a open field with very tall grass that lead to the swamp at the back of our property. I slowly walked sideways to keep a eye in the direction where I seen the object. I heard a rock bounce off a few trees. I knew cats can't throw rocks. I remember thinking something is distracting me like a diversion a kid would do to draw attention else where or possibly warning me. I booked it but every 20 yards or so I would stop and turn around quickly hoping to get a glimpse or have a opportunity to face whatever was following me. Then I flat out booked it about 50yrds into the tall grass and jumped down to listen for any other movement in the grass. I didn't hear anything. I walked about 200yrds backwards watching behind me. I was very confident what ever it was stayed in the tree line but I was taking no chances. That was the only time I ever felt spooked in the woods. The woods where my entire life back then all day, everyday. I stayed out of the woods for about a week after that. I would go back and explore but the area was purchased by a very wealthy man that fenced in many miles of land and actually put up a massive house and barn in the field I ran across. If anything was there, I'm sure it moved. I haven't really shared the story because if you can't 100% say what you saw, you don't want to say at all. I shared it with my wife and now all of you under a mask of anonymity provided by the internet.

1984 I saw what could only be described as a bigfoot squatting down on the edge of a river, while taking my dog for an early morning walk. It never saw me, but I stared at it with my hand on my sidearm for a good 5mins. It was about 50m away, and looked like it was washing something off in the water then eating it. I've been back to that area dozens of times, and sized it to be at least the size of a large Grizzly, except I live in the NE. It was grey in color and had patches of hair/fur missing on it's back (I was viewing from behind). I eventually backed away and left. Never told anyone.

On Buckey bigfoot a youtube story teller of bigfoot, she told one account of a lady that saw 2 bigfoot fighting and the noise they made was so loud as they smashed into one another, thankfully she got up a tree and they never knew she was there, she was scared in place anyway. But one did kill the other and THEN he ripped it's arm off and ate it,and dragged the dead one off. SO maybe that is why we never hear of seeing bodies..they most likely do not waste a thing, and to maintain that weight omg they'd have to eat some huge amounts of food/meat. Some say they are very ape like but then apes do not eat meat.

Once, when I was around 30 years old. So, a bit over 20 years ago. My parents bought a piece of property in the woods on the side of a mountain. There were only a handful of folks that lived down that little dirt road in the woods. I was bored one night around 2 in the morning and decided to sneak out and take a walk down the small dirt road. Yes, it wasn't the smartest idea but at that age I wasn't thinking a big foot or whatever it was, was going to be out there! I made it down the fairly short dirt road and turned and started walking back towards my parents house. I made it about half way back when I heard a shuffling sound and looked to my right and just at the edge of the woods standing in the moonlight was this huge maybe 7 ft to 8 ft tall white gorilla!! It looked like a gorilla and it's so crazy because I thought the same thing this guy thought that it was a very tall person in a white gorilla costume! I froze staring at it eye to eye for a good minute before I bolted just running as fast as I could go back to my parents house! When I reached the driveway I glanced back expecting it to be right behind me but it was still just standing there at the edge of the woods! I made it home, locked the doors and never mentioned it to them in fear they'd think I had lost my mind or something. But, I'm telling ya right now I never went fir a walk there at night after that!

When I was in college me and my friends used to party at this remote area. Lots of stuff is filmed in that area of Lancaster, Ca. so anyone would recognize it. Me and my girlfriend at the time were waiting for my friends, but they never showed so we left. At the intersection of Ave. K and 150th St. East we were about to turn left to head back into town when just beyond the intersection something decided to walk across the street. You know how you can see shadows at night? That’s what I saw, but as it crossed the road it turned it’s head and stared at my car as it crossed the road. First, what the fuck is taller than a street sign? That’s where it’s eyes were, above the sign. Second, what animal continuously stares at a car as it crosses a road? That’s what I consider my Bigfoot experience.
