We have a very similar list in NZ. Although the length isn't quite so hard and fast. There was a young girl who was made a ward of the court so she could change her name from TallulahdoesthehulafromHawaii at one point because she was so embarrassed by her name. It was changed to something much more manageable. She was 8.

poor guy. I've met a few people named "Ajoking" in my life too, can't remember what country it's from now, but it's a legit name in another language that just translates across badly. Then there's names where you have to wonder what the parents were thinking, like All Saints actor Virginia G... (won't say the last name cause for some reason I have problems on this site when I do). If you have a last name like that, why on earth would you give your child a first name like "Virginia"????

In this video they state that on average 5 names out of 98,000 each year are refused in NSW. That's about 0.005% of names essentially prohibited, which is in turn approximately 98% less than the figure you are suggesting. And I would imagine some of those prohibited names would be things like where a parent has written "Name of baby: Fuck Knows"
