Hi Dan good morning. I think this is such great information combing your wash routine w/what butter you use and being flexible on your wash routine. I personally wash daily so I’ve never thought about having a wash routine kinda paired up w/my butter routine but it’s because I wash my beard everyday. I wash my beard daily for 2 reasons. One, I have a lot of gray and white hairs so this maybe in my head but I just want to make sure I don’t get any stains from food, or environment ect. Reason 2 is my beard feels lighter when I wash daily so I have no product build up. Idk 🤷 that’s just me but I do love the concept of pairing your butters w/wash routine.

I own a a beard care company and what I've found the butter has to be frozen right before shipping. The butter I make is Shea butter based, I freeze all my butters. It helps to set back up after I bottle it. What I also found that helps is having a thermal type envelope. I make a a little container with it and wrap it around. I've sent butters to southern Louisiana and southern Texas in July and August. They ended up coming out fine. Actually was told one had to be left out for an hour to thaw out. I learned this trick from watching people who make body butters and how they ship them
@DanCBearded2 жыл бұрын
The flash freeze method can certainly help! Many more factors than just that, but absolutely is best practice when cooling beard butter

@@DanCBearded I have a shelf full of test products. I'm in new jersey. This summer it got up to the upper 90s lower 100s. Most of them kept their form. So the freezing definitely helps to solidify the butters.

Awesome information Dan. I use a lot of different types of butters. I enjoy putting butter in my beard in the morning (after oil, of course) followed by a butter a night. It seems my beard likes full-bodied butters. I use either Artius Man or Whiskey & Hardtack unscented butters in the am (I add a few drops of the scented oil of the day), and various butter types at nighttime. I will use light whipped butters, full-bodied with and without beeswax. I am currently washing my beard every day. Excellent video as my beard gets to the medium-long-ish stage. It's about trying a few different things in different combinations to see what works. I'm the guy at the front of the class with his arm up all the time with questions. 1. You mentioned no more co-washing. Can you either quickly outline why you changed that tactic in your strategy or simply provide a link to the previous information? 2. What are your thoughts around using a boar's bristle round brush to help distribute the butter? I have tried it instead of trying to "drag" the butter through with my hands. 3. I have a very grey to white beard. In trying to keep it feeling not-bird's-nesty, I have taken the "typical" suggested amounts of ALL my in-beard products and increased it by around 1/3 to 1/2 again the amount. Does this sort of "track" with the notion that a grey beard is, by nature, more dry and will require more product to achieve the desired results? 4. You had mentioned elsewhere that you typically do not use butter on a freshly conditioned beard but I can't recall the reasoning for it. Can you elaborate, please? You may be leaving teaching but you'll always be "The Trusted Teacher," on all things beard related. Thanks.

Hey Dan curious where you would place butters with bird oils in them? On the heavier or thinner side?
@DanCBearded2 жыл бұрын
I do not use those often, so I cannot really say. Sorry!

It's all good man. I just got mister moose vacay butter the other day. I gotta say I love it, certainly keeps the beard on the softer side.

What if I use a light butter at night and don’t have time for even a rinse in the morning, would that be an issue? I wake up super early everyday for work, what would be best routine for me to just wake up and go to work?
@DanCBearded2 жыл бұрын
That’s likely fine, no worries there

Do you need to wash out the butters with bees wax in the morning before heated brush instead of just rinsing? Because of my schedule I always wash at night and rinse in the mornings so should I shift that the days I use bees wax? Or is it ok to wait and wash that night?
@DanCBearded2 жыл бұрын
I always recommend washing out butters with beeswax

I do not wear balm, but I do use oil and butter every day, usually Fable, and again at night after my shower I use oil then about an hour or two later I put in butter. Should I wash every day then?
@DanCBearded Жыл бұрын
Yes, I would

Any updates on heavier butters other than the ones mentioned? I'm currently making the switch to butter and know my hair requires one with a decent hold.

Why do you wash out bee wax butter each morning
@DanCBearded2 жыл бұрын
Because it does not absorb in and it would prevent new beard oil from doing its job

Hey man,any recommendations on a beard butter from the UK?

Oh man, unfortunately I do not. That is one area where the UK seems really behind. I am sure they are out there, but I haven't experienced it yet.
