Personally, I would love to see ALL of the 8th Doctor's stories animated. People are STILL asking for an 8th Doctor spinoff series when Big Finish has made an entire history for him that BBC has acknowledged as canon in Night of the Doctor when he says farewell to his companions before Regenerating. If Ravenous is going to be at least one of the last official adventures of his before the Time War, they should really think about going back and animating his adventures starting with the Charley era, then releasing them on DVD. In a sense, this could also really help bring people not familiar with Big Finish into the fold as well.

Sirens of Time and Storm Warning, the very first BF story and the the very first BF 8 story. After that, they could do, Energy of the Daleks, Spare Parts, the Marian Conspiracy, Master and Chimes of Midnight. Generally, I'm going to say they should do the earlier stuff first. Of course, this is assuming they do animate BF stories, which I think is unlikely. I think they might do original to animation stories in future, either after they've done all of, or alongside the Missing Episodes.

Andrew Hsieh I like your choices. I’ve heard that people don’t like the 10th Doctor Audio “Time Reaver” because there is too much action and it’s hard to follow that in audio (haven’t listened to it yet myself. Sill saving up money). I also think Mission to Magnus from the Lost Stories range is the easiest to make into animation as it just has the feel and sound of a classic adventure made in the modern times. Plus a 2 parter that is each 45 minutes might be easier for new fans to get into rather than 4 25 minute parts. I would also love to see the War Doctor animated as “The Innocent” literally has everything there except visuals. Really stellar cinematic feel in that one. Plus the Middle is very cinematic as well. It’s cinematic in a way I’ve not heard any other BF audio be. It also goes places not even new or classic who have gone. It’s set in a visually beautiful future and stays in the beauty sector without trailing off into dark dingy grimy corridors. Even when the plot kicks it. The setting is always stunning and doesn’t veer off.

@@CulturePhilter I would probably want to make the best of both worlds. Do you remember the vintage comic book suit from the Spider-Man PS4 game? I would love to see animations done like that (This is what it looks like kzbin.info/www/bejne/l16vo354hpt7gqM). Otherwise, it would be easier to make a 3D animation with open source programs like Blender or Unreal Engine 4, and if that is the case, we could end up with something like this if they go for 3D kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6LdXn57YsejgbM One other problem I have with the 2D Animated missing episodes is that there aren't a lot of fast tracking shots, and sometimes, I hear some sound effects such as footsteps which go largely ignored in the animations. Django & Litefoot?! Now that's a crossover I'd crowdfund! But yes, the potential for BF (even just scenes?) to be animated, maybe as a calling card for aspiring animators, is outstanding. Verbal descriptions of the action would need to be edited out, of course, so as to literally show don't tell. Perhaps a beefed up mix of the incidental music tracks and new sound fx added, maybe...but as for which audios themselves...that's tough. I'd love to watch the zero-gravity scene from The Apocalypse Element, for example, in which ol' Sixie discovers just how dangerous a gang of Dalek mutants can be, outside of their casings...or the time 8 and Charley take a grav-pad flight over the market district in Sword of Orion, both of them laughing with sheer joy as they fly through the rain inside the Garazone Central space station...or how about when 4 and Leela, bobbing about in a rowboat on the English channel, dodge cannon-balls and watch helplessly as imps and demons caper in the rigging of the far off Spanish galleons of The Devils Armada... Big Finish may be an audio experience but it is a very "visual" medium, full of moments playing out in the minds eye in such epic style as to be unforgettable. There are no budget restrictions or limits to the production values of our inner imagination. It's the one studio that is literally bigger on the inside! I'd love to see some Big Finish brought to "life" as animation - in fact, I dare someone to try ;)

I'd personally love to see The Genocide Machine. A very early BF story. Small but interesting cast of characters and the Daleks are brilliant in it. Spare Parts had a wonderful encore on vinyl, so animation would be the next logical 'upgrade'. If Big Finish produced special animations, I suspect they'd stick to standalones for budget and I guess the appeal would be to showcase never-before-seen dynamics and originality, so Chimes of Midnight for 8th and Charley, Spectre of Lanyon Moor for 6th, Evelyn and the Brig. I personally wouldn't want to see Big Finish animated because it could potentially disappoint against what you imagined in the first place and I much prefer the audio medium. It requires more attention and fires the imagination so much more. I get so much more pleasure exploring the Doctor Who expanded universe this way.

I personally would love to see Minuet in Hell animated. One of my favorite episodes, its pretty standalone so you wouldn't need to animate anything else to give context for an audience jumping in for the first time, and I wanna see what the demons would look like visually! Though due to the more risque nature of the episode, it might be a little hard to do so without crossing a line. Can get away with some more stuff when you you can't see it.
@CulturePhilter2 жыл бұрын
It’s been so long since I listened to that one (we’re talking over a decade) that I can’t remember much about it and why the risqué elements might be.
@hattaandromeda2 жыл бұрын
@@CulturePhilter Risque is probably understating it honestly, now that im writing it out i realize it has some legitimately dark stuff that would only be suitable for adult viewers. Charlie along with some other girls are forced to work at the Hellfire Club, a gentleman's club, against her will, and someone tears off her dress while she's there when she wont let him touch her. The baddie tries to force her to marry him later. I also think there was mention of an orgy but I don't remember when in the plot exactly exactly. Not even mentioning the straight up gaslighting that the Doctor goes through at the asylum, he nearly gets lobotomized. I personally love dark stories like these, and also the Brigadier was there so that was also why I liked it because that man is the coolest, but man this one got dark.

I don't really count Big finish as cannon, even though the Charlie was mentioned in McGann's regeneration short. If I haven't seen it on TV I don't see it as a continuation, having said this, I would like to see the 8th Doctor stories animated, as he only had on TV movie.
@CulturePhilter5 жыл бұрын
That’s fair enough. Great thing about Doctor Who and all the media it has expanded into is that you can just choose what you count as cannon. Personally I like to included absolutely everything. But that’s just me.
@natsmith3034 жыл бұрын
If they do the War Doctor in animation, the last episode should end with the screen going all glitchy with flashes of Gallifrey exploding (to simulate the Doctor's incomplete memory), and on the other side of it actually show the regeneration again, but this time including the Ninth Doctor rather than simply suggesting him.
@CulturePhilter4 жыл бұрын
They could do but if the concept is animating existing audios they’d have to put it in an audio first.

Let's face it... Big Finish DW will all get animated in the end. Even if it's in 50 years time when I'm too dead to care. When all of the Big Finish Doctors are dead and future fans want more 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 10th Doctor adventures... They have huge back catalogue to raid. And animation will be easier and cheaper and more realistic by then. Fans will animate them even if BF themselves don't. But if you want a first one recommendation from me... One of the 10th Doctor audios will bring the maximum number of people on-board.

I would love to see 1. Eternal battle (4, Romana, K9, sontarans, zombies and trench warfares) 2. Trail or a valeyard (cause, it’s trial of a valeyard and has the best score in big finish history) And 3. Bang-Bang-A-Boom (Agatha christy Eurovision murder mystery) (Funnily enough these 3 are my favourite big finish audios of all time)
@charlestownsend92804 жыл бұрын
I'd say if they were it should be the 8th doctor, just due to not enough screen time and i'd agree that it should start with blood of the daleks (which is a good dalek story with one of my favourite companion intros) and then go through the lucie miller era, the charlie era would be cool but animating the weird thing like anti time would be hard. Plus that era is still liked by fans considering the fact that they've brought it back. Spare parts would be a good one to do as a standalone, maybe a trial run story. The war doctor would be cool to see and would bring in new who fans. Two that i would like to see is legacy of time, which would be a good multi doctor story to do thatbisn't super complicated and does have a 10th doctor cameo in it and jenny and river appear and all 8 classic doctors and romana, leala and jo grant also have roles in it or the unbound series, which would be simple what ifs to animate and would draw fans in and then if that concept does well then move on to a series (like the 8th doctor).

The Apocalypse Element would be great. The Holy Terror, since Frobisher is a drawing already. I'd actually like to see some of the Gallifrey series visualised, but that would be a bit boring for most people. Also, The Light at the End as an anniversary release.

I would like them to primarily focus on animating the majority of the 8th doctor audios starting with the very first main range releases with charley. I would also wish for them to animate all the audios with the 6th doctor and Evelyn smythe. Basically animate the audios for the doctors that have had the shortest tenures.
@CulturePhilter5 жыл бұрын
I see your point about the Doctors with shortest tenure. And the 8th Doctor is my favorite so that would vertically make me very happy. But I think they’d need to share the animation love over several Doctors to not frustrate fans of, for example, the 5th or 4th Doctors.
@codyw15 жыл бұрын
That does make sense, though at the same time I'd love to see them animate Romance of Crime!

I like your ideas, the war doctor audios are some of my favourite stores in the whole of Doctor who, but I would say that I would have chosen these Audios; 'Storm Warning' or 'Blood of The Daleks': I will agree with you on your the blood of the Daleks argument, but I think that Storm Warning is a better story, but is very descriptive and a tad slow, but ether one would be fine. The brink of Death: one reason, and one reason alone... a official Six Doctor regeneration on DVD, and for the stubborn people who think that the Sixth Doctor was a mug, this lets them have a new look at the new Six. The light at the End: make it a move, then boom money, children will watch it, fan will love it, and the BBC will see all that money and want to make more animated film with the 8th Doctor , so then maybe a CBBC 8TH Doctor spin off?
@CulturePhilter5 жыл бұрын

@Henry-oj1oo5 жыл бұрын
@@CulturePhilter Thanks, I love the Fan ones, but if the BBC did an animation, maybe there could be a slight edit and add the Rani walking into the Doctors Tardis, so we can have the full regeneration and then a link into 'time and the Rani', maybe even a quick scene of the monsters from that story firing some radiation weapons, as to give an explanation why there is green lazers in Time and the Rani.

Would light at the end be alright for animation? You need some classic who knowledge but beyond Charlie there’s not much big finish stuff needed there. It’s kind of nonsense but it’s a fun story
@CulturePhilter4 жыл бұрын
As it was a 50th special they could release as animation on the 60th to tie in with that.
@Benji5683 жыл бұрын
I guess I wouldn't mind. I think if they stuck with animating a lot of the Eighth Doctor stuff, I think it would be a money-spinner for BBC Studios. There is so much of BF that it almost seems impossible to animate every single audio they've done, I mean it would take almost 5 decades to do. Animation takes time and patience depending on the form of animation used.

I've not really listened to enough of the audios to make a choice based on quality, but I'd like ones that would feel they could slot into the run of the tv stories without seeming out of place. So, like, not stories featuring non-tv companions for 4,5,6 and 7, or ones where they play with the dynamic like the older Nyssa with 5,tegan and turlough, because unless you had a start and end point that allowed it to flow it would feel too out of place, if that makes sense. I'd like something that I could slot into my dvd shelf between two stories and have it feel like it could take place more or less on its own in that gap. Fifth Doctor and Nyssa stuff would be very welcome, the period between the end of S19 and the start of S20 always feels like stuff happened we didn't see, like time has passed. Some of the 4th Doctor and Romana stuff would be nice, especially with Mary Tamm, since we have so little of her, and again I'd like to have an expansion of the period between s16 and 17. Anything set between S22 and 23 would be great, I think they did audios for the unmade oreiginal S23, although I've heard quite negative feedback on those, in theory they're something I'd like. And they did an Audio leading up to 6's regeneration, that would be very welcome with me. Also Mel's introduction, they did that, right? Then anything continuing the 7th Doctor's travels with Ace, if they have her departure covered then that would be nice to see. And a run of 8th Doctor stuff would be lovely if it flowed in a followable sequence, 8/Lucie stuff would be great. Likewise I'd love more War Doctor. So yeah, if they made stuff that flowed with the existing tv material, and wouldn't leave things feeling more uncompleted if production was abruptly cancelled, that's what I'd like, hypothetically.
@CulturePhilter5 жыл бұрын
Interesting point about having ones with existing companions that could just slot between TV stories. Makes sense to appeal to classic series fans unfamiliar with Big Finish. Spare Parts would fit that description as it’s a 5th and Nyssa story.
