I went to boarding school from age 13-18. In that time I have collected many funny stories that I thought I would share from the boarding house.
I also share what the average day in my life at boarding school is like.
Skip to 01:53 for the Stories!!
I didn't exactly go to Eton or Harrow but every boarding school is similar

They are similar, but there are opportunites to learn skills in boarding schools, you are taught to not memorize but to understand concepts. Since many teachers live in there you are helped more by them. There are possibilities in having lots of friends who you can talk to and hang out with inside the dorms and they will help you know the benefits of those types of schools, their values and importance on education. The staff however can either be very nice and understanding ( if they were boarders) or mean to the point of punishing you if you are not a perfectly behaved student or if you misbehave or have chronic tardiness issues. Some of them play favorites and let students smoke in their schools. However those staff members later quit or don't stay too long. Those that are former borders can be very sympathetic with new students and those who have never been students in boarding schools want borders to adapt quickly if not they are encouraged to stay in their homes. The staff members are not parents of the kids, but they do control the cell phone usage ( either none or 1 a week or daily at certain times), they let you know when you can go out and when you can't many times you can't on the weekdays/ weekends unless borders go in their buses to malls, stores, supermarkets and other places. They give you schedules for their daily activities to develop discipline and clean their rooms. Education is their #1 priority not going out to all the cool places every day or every weekend. If students seek a lot freedom in going out every day and every weekend and talk non stop on their cell phones all the time to be honest boarding schools are not the right places, only their day schools can help them get a good education that is better than those of public schools. They don't allow many borders to have cars or have strangers drop them off in their parking lots because they fear those strangers can harm the borders but at times they allow some to have cars so students have to arrange doing errands with a staff member. If you feel lonely, some might be super nice and give you advices , mainly they try give you books to distract minds and motivate students to always think positively in their schools 24/7 and to feel that is ok to live without their parents. Parents can visit at times. There are options to stay connected with families and get a great education by going part time Monday thru Friday and home on the weekends. If the boarding system doesn't work then like I said going to their day schools is another option. If you board you will change as a person, you will like reading, might become sociable ( if you are shy), will be more neat, a more clean person and a bit independent.

LOL - very interesting. As for the cider - stealing alcohol from the science lab, really??? Wow, just...wow! Back in my day, students used to go to Boots for the beer/wine kits. I don't know if they also had cider kits but maybe. Unfortunately, even the best hidden home brew could be given away by the scent, and some of our masters had noses like bloodhounds. Others, not so much. :) I think I might have been the first to build a still. For experimental purposes only, of course. :) Anyway, thanks for the video!

That phone rule, uggh would have annoyed me so much, like can I have some freedom and not everything determined by someone else? Haha but maybe it's because I didn't go to boarding school. One of the weirdest, not juiciest, stories from my time in school is that in 8th grade we had quite a difficult teacher. She lashed out on us from time to time without any reason and it was a bit difficult to deal with her. One day our director enters our classroom and tells us that we would know what this would be about and we were like what is going on? It turned out that a mother of one of our classmates had written a letter to the director complaining about that teacher and had signed with our class name:D like wtf, we didn''t know about it and what kind of adult would do that?

Yeah the phone rule sucked but it definitely encouraged more reading which was good!! Oooh that's really harsh for someone to sign a letter in your name, hopefully you managed to clear that up!!

@@thatonecharlie okay, yes, it might animate you to read more but I always loved reading so that wouldn't have been a problem for me:) and yes we cleared it up and there were several conversations with the mother who wrote it, other parents from our class etc., still that was really surreal:D
