If it isn’t too taxing on your production, can you maybe do a few cutaways, or Picture in Picture visual references to the things you’re talking about? For instance, when you were talking about the Jonny Joint setup, it would have been nice to have a picture or two or what you were referring to. I realize that the items that are intellectual property of other companies aren’t feasible, but whatever you can do. Thanks, Ian.

I like the concept of a SXS but I can't justify the cost. Can you build a light weight tube buggy that could be similar to a SxS without going with the high end axles or tons and heavy equipment. Something like a buggy frame, 2jz motor and dana 44 axles? Thoughts?

Like this idea! If I remember correctly... the company Goat Bilt (?) had different kits to build up. And use a jeep firewall with i.d. plate and grill, license it as that jeep. In Virginia it's the same way about sxs. But, I researched it out.. if you purchase one, used, that is already registered and has all the required equipment. It can be registered. It's classified as a dune buggy. There is a gentleman not far from me that built a total tube chassis with 2.5 ton rocks and 39's fir the street. Registered as a jeep, it has a cut up tub, narrowed hood, grill...everything. it passed.

Hey Ian - what are the general rules of thumb when it comes to welding wire size. If you are a hobbyist who mostly does things like relocating suspension brackets and perhaps a little custom fabrication, when would you use .023 versus .030 versus .035 wire?
@JustinD.53 Жыл бұрын
Obviously Ian is more qualified to answer but .023 is pretty much for thin gauge material. I liked using .027 in a 120v machine to stretch it to and over 1/8” wall because I felt like it was less heat being lost to melt the wire, but the wire also limits how much current you can push because it is your electrode. .030 is great in a 240v machine for most all fab I’ve ever done, maybe a lot of 1/4” or 3/8” .035 would be helpful I have limited experience with that material.
