All hopes nothing bad happens with Jhonen Vasquez. So far, unless I'm missing something, he's been in the clear. Most people probably wouldn't have expected that the devout Christian creator is the evil one while the person who made comics about a brutal serial killer, had the occult and specifically devils/demons appear in almost all his works, and managed to get an episode about organ harvesting onto Nickelodeon is actually a genuinely nice guy. Gets even funnier considering Invader Zim shared it's premiere with the Fairly OddParents. While historically, FOP ran a lot longer and had more success, at this point it's crashed and burned. On the other hand, Zim got a movie in 2019, still has a fiercely loyal fan-base, and is continuing to get stories in the form of the 2015 comic series. Their reputations basically swapped. I guess karma came back to give success to the person who actually deserved it.

Being autistic I'm really getting sick and tired of people viewing autism like it's all doom and gloom. Yes we have our struggles and we repeat them again and again but we find a way to manage like everyone else. We're people too not unholy creatures that need to be fixed or healed and it's that attitude is why we have so many anti vaxxers. Autistic people don't wanna be fixed or healed...just understood

I’m autistic as well, but I don’t agree with the last part. I want to be understood but I know it’s hard for some people to do that and honestly, I don’t blame them. Whenever I tried to just be myself, like an average person would, I would come off as weird or a bit odd, which pushes people around me away and I just end up NOT being myself at all. I would LOVE to “fix” my autism or whatever it is I need to do to just get it out of my life. IT IS DEFINITELY NOT A DISEASE, but it’s something that holds back my true self.

What you're saying is also kind of selfish though. Autism doesn't manifest itself the same way in everyone. Some people may want to be cured if a "cure" ever exists. Of course, what Butch did is despicable. But we can't force people into thinking they shouldn't need to be cured. It should come as a natural conclusion if that's what they truly feel. I hope this doesn't offend you and makes sense
@swissphan184 жыл бұрын
@@thecabbageman1 Well, at least currently there is no way to "cure" autism, I mean how do you cure a different brain structure, exactly? If there was a cure that would help me get rid of the stuff that holds me back and leaves my personality, memories, etc. intact, I might think about taking it. But from what I've seen the vast majority of autistic people do not want to be cured. And I feel the same way personally. There was a time, where I wanted to do anything to stop being autistic. But, as soon as I actually found people that accepted me for who I was, that it wasn't that big of a deal anymore. The problem was how people treated me, not the autism itself. I fully acknowledge that there are people out there who might want a cure for it, and I don't hold that against them whatsoever. My main problem I guess is the rhetoric that people spout. The implication that autism is something inherently wrong or something that needs to be fixed has real impacts on the well-being of autistic children. I have felt broken and like I don't belong anywhere for my condition many times in my life, thanks to how people treated me for it. Again, if people want to be cured, should such a thing ever exist (I personally doubt it though), then I have nothing against that. I just do not want people to think of autistic people as having less value than anyone else or like how they feel should not be considered when considering having them take medication or going to therapy. I hope you understand my point. I just want me and my fellow autistic people to be respected for who we are, and leave the decision to us if we do want a cure or not. I was not offended btw. I probably just didn't get my point across very well in my first comment.

Another Autistic person here. I am actually afraid of the idea of being cured, because I've spent so much of my life learning to live with and adapt to my situation. "Curing" Autism would result in a complete change in personality (among other aspects), forcing you to relearn yourself all over again and face the same issues you had growing up. I'm happy the way I am now, and I'm friends with a large number of other Autistic people as well who feel the same way. It's anecdotal, but I've yet to meet an Autistic person who *wanted* to be "cured."

But I read these judges critiques and I actually enjoy reading it cause it helps me get better and better. I ask people to test stuff like MP soap and bath bombs cause I want to know what to do better. I'm always happy to take suggestions long as you present it in a constructive way, but much of my feedback is this so I'm not worried most of the time. Most people who review my stuff besides fair judges and maybe my quilting aunt? People who don't know how to do this stuff, people who don't have a lick of knowledge about it. Butch's ego is his biggest problem. He's not the sole reason Danny Phantom or Fairly Oddparents succeeded, there were lots of other talented people working for him that made those shows popular, but he's made it his brand that he 'created your childhood.' He's an idea guy, he's good at pitching a show or concept (Oaxis) but needs other people to actually do something with it. Like, if you've ever listened to his ideas for Danny Phanton both before it went to air and his ideas for '10 years later' his ideas seem to just stem from what he thinks is cool or popular. He wanted Danny to have an owl that detected ghosts just because Harry Potter had an owl and those were popular movies at the time. He probably only wanted to make a streaming service because everyone else was and they're the big 'thing' right now.
@eamonxl81834 жыл бұрын
Thing is there was at least a demand for story oriented shows like Danny Phantom in the early 2000s. Especially on Nick, most shows at the time for episodic comedies or slice of life shows. With streaming services however, there is already a high saturation of them, especially now. If Oaxis wasn’t a complete meme, would anyone actually care about it?

As a fellow brother in Christ myself, I think a Bible verse is called for. “If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?” James 2:15-16 In other words, you can't just pray for a homeless person to get better and do nothing else to help them. That's actually *against* the Bible! Similarly, you can't just pray for someone to get better of a horrible disease and tell them that's all they need to get better and that they don't need a doctor. What good is that? Maybe Butch needs to read the Bible again. When I hear about faith healing, I always end up thinking about a family friend and neighbor I had some years back. She had (and still has) bipolar disorder and was also one of the most faithful Christians I've ever met. Her mental health was usually pretty stable since she took her meds, but missing her pills a few times sent her into a spiral. During the stress of her oldest daughter graduating high school, having family visit, and getting ready to go on a cruise for a few weeks, she missed a few days of her meds. Then, she started to believe that god had cured her of her bipolar disorder. From there she just stopped taking her medicine altogether, and ended up in a psychosis so deep that she was convinced she had killed all three of her daughters (she hadn't they were all fine) and swallowed all the pills she could find to kill herself. Fortunately some of them cancelled out the effects of each other and she lived, though she was in the hospital for weeks. Her husband even had to sign her over as a ward of the state so the state could consent on her behalf to electroshock therapy to get her back to some form of lucidity. My family moved away a few months after this happened, when she was starting to somewhat mentally recover from the whole episode, so I don't actually know if she was able to fully recover to her pre-psychosis self. My family has theorized for years that her church, which was the kind to peddle these ideas, is where she picked up the idea that believing hard enough can cure you of anything. Faith healing can kill, and when it doesn't, it can lead to lasting physical and mental health consequences. It's a dangerous ideology that shouldn't be peddled around in any setting. I'm all for people having their religious faith, but a line has to be drawn there.

Ugh, Butch... Stop claiming that you're being bullied and just pay the guy who did work for you. 9_9 Has Kuro considered taking Butch to court? It doesn't sound like he's going to pay up anytime soon, and if Kuro has documentation he should consider talking to a lawyer. Granted, it's not cheap, but still... Thanks for clarifying that not all Christians believe the same things as Butch. ;) As for his beliefs... I think there's a mixture of Butch and Julianne misinterpreting Christian doctrine AND "Christian-ese" that's being misunderstood. Here's just one example: "We don't battle with the flesh" / fighting doesn't actually mean that they think you, Kuro, or other decent people want to physically fight them. The context Julianne was referring to is of a spiritual battlefield - a concept that I can't succinctly describe, but most Christians believe to be true. That said - I still think she and Butch are misusing the terminology. This isn't a case of someone who wants to spiritually or psychologically harm them. This can be easily solved - just pay Kuro! They are withholding money from someone who did work for them, which DOES go against the teachings of Christ. Also, as a Christian... I actually do believe that it is possible for God to heal someone of a fatal disease. I've heard a lot of stories throughout my life, and I'm inclined to think that God does allow miracles to still happen. Do I think they can be manufactured in the way Julianne is advertising? Nope. Does the fact that millions of people die from these fatal diseases in spite of their love and faith for God damage my faith? Also no, but that's a separate discussion. ;) It's pretty clear that Butch and Julianne don't understand autism, mental illness, depression, or suicide. I'd still like to know what Butch thinks about the guy who killed a few supermarket employees after he developed a dark mindset surrounding Ember, a character he created... TL;DR - Butch, just pay Kuro like the Christian you are supposed to be - and no, you can't make God heal you.

If Butch and Julieann think that you can be cured just off of religious beliefs, their heads would probably explode if someone were to show them the song "The God That Failed" from Metallica, a song where James Hetfield is griefing over his mother who passed away from cancer and didn't take any treatments because she believed God alone would cure her. I normally go to church with another side of my family, and the people at that church are very great people. Because of quarantine, the main side of my family I spend most of my time with spends their Sunday mornings watching livestreams of sermons from the church they go to. But everyone I know from the church I go to would never force their beliefs on other people. If someone doesn't agree with you, that's not a bad thing, everyone has different ideas and opinions. Organized religion are people. They are created by people, run by people, used by people. You don't get to separate the two, sorry. No matter who you are, no matter your faith, you agree that the majority of children on earth are being lied to by religion. We all agree that most children are being harmed by religion, many believe ruining their eternal life as well...because there is no one group of humans on earth who agree on a religious doctrine and are in the majority. Religion hurts people. 🤷 This is some "don't complain about guns" scramble crap after another mass shooting. In reality, guns are a business, just like religion. As a Christian, with Autism, Anxiety, and Depression, I do believe in God and that God can and still does miraculously heal people, in fact, I was miraculously healed, but I am unsettled by saying you were "cured" of Autism and it's inclusion. It is not biblical telling people that if they just believe enough or pray enough or pay certain people, they'll be miraculously healed, or don't need to see a doctor. That's a belief held by a lot of cults. There are a lot of scammers too. Just cause God can, doesn't mean he will, regardless of how much you pray, pay or believe. I was born with severe Epilepsy and after decades of prayer, right when we were considering brain surgery, I stopped having seizures. I haven't had any since and most likely never will. It's been more than a decade since I've had one, and the doctor couldn't explain it, and said that it never happens. It always gets worse with age, never better. But I know plenty of great people who have been praying just as long who haven't.
