For someone who's interested in shooting more vintage style music videos, what camera would you recommend? I personally really like the films you've shown previously of the bmpcc, but would that be too much for someone starting out?

I personally use a bmpcc 4K for all of my work. BRAW allows you do color grade your footage to whatever look you’d want, so you can get that vintage looking color. The main thing you want to look into is vintage lenses. There are some really affordable ones that have a lot of character in the image, you may want to look into the Helios lenses. Hope this helps

Mumbo Jumbo, I am shooting on a pink Nikon Coolpix S3000 that I got as a gift in 2010 when I was 8 years old. At first I only used it because I found it a bit funny that my blurry childhood vacation photos were on the same SD card as pictures of me and my college friends. As I've gotten a bit more into using it, I actually find it to be a lot of fun. It's small and easy, I don't have to worry about lenses or really much at all. I actually don't even mess with the modes or settings ever. I have found that the photos on it are so much happier. Maybe the camera is nicer than a phone, or maybe people are just laughing at the sight of a 20 year old with a little pink camera, but it's a hoot. I'd like to shoot film, but don't really have the budget to develop it all the time. Low stakes, lots of fun. Plus, you get the pleasure of using Nikon software from 2010 to upload the photos. Highly recommend :D (cool video!)

I shoot video on either an LG G4 or my Samsung Galaxy G6 Active, and I exclusively shoot my heavy bag workout sessions on them. Which I then upload to Facebook and then only show to friends because I don't want to give away too many secrets about the location I'm shooting footage in. However, when it comes to using capture devices as footage cameras, I have an Elgato HD60 which captures footage from my laptop at 1080p 60hz, and then Saria uses this setup to stream her avatar while she streams games to Twitch. It's pretty organic and divides the load of rendering a whole 3D environment and avatar from Second Life and ensures that's only taking up CPU and GPU load on a spare machine. At some point I need to purchase a miniPC with USB 3.0 so we can do this render the other way around for artwork. Sometimes what's necessary is a nice desk setup and not a powerful computer for rendering.

I have a Google Pixel 4a which not a lot of people would choose to film with but becomes shockingly capable in good situations and takes awesome photos (especially when paired with a camera app with pro controls and camera2api). For any more professional situations, my EOS 250d works okay but unfortunately has no raw video and really is best for photography. Finally, my EOS M (yep the first one) is modified using Magic Lantern which gives it the ability to shoot raw video in up to 5k anamorphic which is really awesome and produces the highest quality footage. Ironically, it is the oldest camera I own 😂.

Dude magic lantern is literally magic. I got to experience it with my old 1100D but it's just clearly not powerful enough for higher quality video. I really miss it on my newer 800D

@@bryan.w.t You are so right, it was mind-blowing when I first saw a before before and after. Literally one of the best things I've ever seen 😂. It definitely isn't enough to compete with the newer Pocket Cinema 4k that has a great sensor to begin with, but mind-blowing considering you can find the EOS M for just above $100!
