No I totally agree that our design out the back was pants! It got us a cup of tea in your lovely camper. We have our brand new long wheel base van and it’s just been fully insulated and leisure battery, lights and carpets. Rich is now looking at designs to build our C shape bed system. Only thing is no pop top yet. Thinks he will get away without! You met me, what do you think? 😂😂😂. Loved this video and hope we see you next year. Maybe somewhere closer. We owe you a cuppa ☕️ xx

Hey Catherine... I'm sorry I didn't mention your names! I really enjoyed meeting you both on the NC500 - seeing you guys made me feel 'not so solo'... which was so nice! Yes, hope we can meet up again next year... may be in the Lake District or Northumberland? Im thinking of trips to both areas. There's a route called the Northumberland 250... but not sure I'm up for another 'road trip' as such! Wow.. your van is coming along... I'm not sure what a C Shape bed is, or do you mean U shape... Im sure Rich has it all sussed out in his head... but you know what men are like... he needs to chat to you about it and listen to your suggestions as us women can come out with 'game changing' ideas - coz we often think 'outside the box!" and are often more practically minded. All I can say is that it's nice to be able to stand upright in your van, when you get out of bed and a pop top offers extra space to put things when parked up. Lovely to hear from you... keep in touch. Big hugs to you both and thanks for watching this vid!! 🤗🚐xxx

Ive owned various types of Campervans since 1977 ...a Fiat Amigo ,a Toyota Rio Grande , a T25 and last but not least a good old VWT4 Trident Autosleeper with a 1.9td which I love and like you quite rightly say its well kitted out however I have added a Dual Solar Panel which is situated on the roof where the luggage rack is situated and a decent stereo with speakers in the doors...luckily for me it already had an Eberspacher Night Heater in it which is brilliant to say the least as I use mine 365 days of the year not only as an everyday vehicle but if I go up on Dartmoor for a walk I can cook a meal on return and have a brew too !!!! Ditto if I go down to Beesands for a swim !!! Ive taken her several times to Wales and Cornwall and I'm hoping to go to Ireland in the near future when I've finished having countless appointments at Derriford Hospital !!!! Everything works 200% ie my 3 way fridge as my Autosparky went through my Electrics and the A38 Caravans at Landulph nr Saltash Cornwall have been right through the Gas side of things for me too who I highly highly recommend!!!!

Hi Hugh... many thanks for taking the time to comment, I found it an interesting read. That's one thing I need to do... fit a decent radio with good speakers in the door - the present speakers aren't good, simply old! I presently use my JBL speaker connected to my iphone at mo and put the speaker where I want it... so I've worked around it - as you do! Yes.. I'm thinking about Ireland too! May be next year.. depends on various things. I'm looking at fitting power steering to my van, as it doesn't have it.. and it would be quite a nice addition... that's my next big job as well as getting the fridge fixed! Thanks for watching TWorld and taking time to comment.. Best wishes, Teresa 🤗🚐

We bought a 30 year old vw a couple of months ago, we got it for a very good price but have yet to use it as our old dog was poorly and has just recently passed. We intend to use it a lot next year for short getaways. I know you disconnect your battery over winter, we have the luxury of being able to keep ours at home but wondered if you worry about yours standing over the winter months without starting or running it? Hubby had to jump start ours today and it was having a right ol splutter🤣 Love it, love the layout we have, just a little concerned about reliability going further afield. 😘

Hi Jorose, thanks for watching this video and writing to me about your camper. Is your van petrol or diesel? Mine is petrol, and I put E5 in it... bit more expensive, but she runs loads better on that. I'm always anxious about whether she'll start, not sure why as she always does! Even after being in storage for 6 months and I re-connect the battery, unbelievably, she always starts. Amazing really. With regard to your van, you may have had to jump start, because you've got the battery connected... and I'm wondering if you have something that is drawing power from the battery whilst she's stood. The clock will be, only minimal... but also you may have installed a new radio or a cradle for a mobile phone, which will be taking power, even if you think it's off. That happened to mine, when I had a new radio fitted and new phone cradle. I couldn't believe it, but both items, though 'off' still have something going on in the background, specially if it's a relatively item. Otherwise, she may just be spluttering because she's damp, spark plugs may need re-newing, when was she last serviced etc? Give her a good run out, charges the battery and warms her up. With regard to reliability going long distances...if yours is a T4, they are work horses... they keep rolling. Mines now hit 103k miles, and just done the NC500... I'll go anywhere in mine... Im in GreenFlag if she breaks down. It's about having a plan IF she breaks down, then you don't need to worry about it. Just check all the bits that could go wrong.. cambelt, clutch, gearbox etc.. Any advisories on the MOT... always get done. Older vehicles are totally mechanical... by that, I mean... things can wear out, so just try to keep an eye on anything that you think could now be needing replacing... Hope this helps... happy travels next year and so sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. I lost my Millie in 2019, they are so part of your life and life style... so my thoughts are with you. Best wishes, Teresa 🤗

@ thanks so much , it’s a diesel and T4. Nothing new installed, I think it’s maybe because we’ve let it sit too long between starts and run outs. No advisories on last mot in July but I love him(Stan the van, after my dad) that I want to look after him. He’s stunning for his age, it’s just I get worried about reliability with an older vehicle but wouldn’t swap him for a newer model like yourself, as he has a lovely warmth about him that I can’t wait to cosy up in on a evening. Take care, Jo xx

I didn't realise you brought your camper in 2012! I brought mine in 2018, and although I do use it as my car, it's taken me really until this year to go further afield in it. I still need more practice! I had a nerve racking trip to North Devon and also the Forest of Dean (actually not that far..) In the borough of Torridge, which is Westwardho! and Appledore and Bideford, you can pay to stay overnight in the car parks, you might those. Did you find it took you some time to build up to using it regularly? You seem to have done lots of travels this year. I agree it is a lovely camper to be in. Such a nice space, it always feels good.

Hi Heather, thanks for watching the video... and taking time to comment. I think you're doing really well to use your van as your 'day' van, as without power steering (petrol version) it's not always easy to manoeuvre and park etc. You'll always come across various situations that push us outside our comfort zones, but the satnav is a God send. Yes... it's taken me all these years to get to the point where I think I would go anywhere in the UK... and I'm considering Ireland next year.. but also I'd like to go back to Northumberland and explore the Lake District, which I'm yet to do. I think the more you use it the more you get to know it. Even now, I always feel anxious and excited when getting it out of storage at the beginning of the season... but once I'm sat behind the wheel... this NEW person blossoms and I get 'back in to it'. It simply brings out the best in me.. not sure how!! So, Heather! Happy travels... we must meet up, I've forgotten where you live... but let's do it next year! Teresa 🚐

Like you i would only ever have a Volkswagen....and like you again it is the best thing i've ever bought. Also it's just for one...we have a lot in common🙂 Did a lot of research at the time [2007] to find my ideal 'van...layout, storage space, practicality, reviews etc. Lastly if still unsure do what i did....hire a similar vehicle to get the feel of it. Somewhat out of my comfort zone, i hired a 1992 Trident in the Lake District and drove up to the West Coast of Scotland...only issue was the 1.9D was a bit sluggish on the hills so opted for a 2.4D which i still own today....17yr and counting.

Glad you're still enjoying your 1992 Trident - happy travels Geoff 🤗🚐

First video of yours I have seen and some really good information there. It’s worth knowing exactly what you want. I’m looking for my first camper soon to get converted. You my dear lady have an infectious smile and personality. Best wishes. Jonathan

Hi Jonathan, great you've found my little channel and thank you for taking time to comment... I wish my channel was as infectious as my smile and personality... may be it wouldn't have taken 9 years to get 2000 subs!!! No! Seriously... thanks for your kind comments and do look at the playlist, where there are lots of other uploads that I hope you find equally as interesting or amusing... best wishes Teresa 🤗🚐

@ you are very welcome and I will look at previous videos. I’m leaving the police soon after 20 years and can’t wait to buy a camper van and go travelling. 2000 subs is amazing regardless of how long it took you. Just subscribed. Il keep watching and maybe one day I may see you on my travels.

Great video as always...a big factor is cost..campers and motorhomes a ridiculous price since staycationing took off..yours is prob worth £10 15,000 now I bet.....I was looking into a buying a van ,an converting it my self..but most basic vans you have to pay VAT...and they are business road tax and insurance, unless you can get it re registered..so buying decent van, cost of converting it..tax n insurance..your still talking £10,000 plus so your £7,800 money well spent in 2012..👍
@teresasworld3374Ай бұрын
Hi Robert... thanks for watching and commenting. Yes, I agree, I was going to say that by the time you've bought a van to 'do up' as a project... if you add up the cost of the materials and the time etc... you may as well buy an older VW! But then, I wasn't sure if that was correct fact to state! 😂 Yes... after getting the wheel arch done and new windscreen and rust in the gully sorted.. I'd want £15k... and of course, she's famous now!! 😂🚐
