I can't believe I have to add this but, this isn't racism against white people, that's not the underlying principle at play. Sellers in open markets around the world will charge based on how wealthy they think you are and how familiar with the environment they think you are. You're free to hassle for a better deal too obvs (O_0)

Manufactured Consent market people only charge foreigners more because they can get away with it. It's not about respecting their fellow countrymen, it's about knowing that locals are aware of how much things cost and won't be willing to pay a higher amount. Go to most markets in the world, if you look or sound unlike a local, expect to be charged more. Even shops with fixed prices have overpriced keychains, postcards,etc targeted at tourists, who are willing to pay extra. Most people do understand this when they go abroad.
