Around 40 years ago it would have cost a lot less. Inflation has certainly made the Jamaican dollar not as good as it was back in the early 1980s. But it is good to see that people are adaptibg to a fistful of dollars. Very well executed. Well done. I went to school on the Red Hills road for a year and then to Meadowbrook high for a few months before returning to the UK.

Roch I didn't know Jamaica had a 5000 dollar bill,I knew about the 500 dollar bill So in 2018 I was in Jamaica,6 of us at Rui,I taught I was tipping the waiters 500 dollars Jamaica which is like 20 usa to me I feel terrible staying at these expensive places and knowing the workers are making about 1usa an hour so I tip well to feel better. The expression on the waiters faces startled my grand daughter lol I notice it too but taught nothing of it,so she said grandma let me see one of those money and gave her one She said grand ma do you know this is 5000 and not 500 I was like ,they have a 5000 dollar bill,all the bills were 5000 and not 500 Lesson learn,they both look so much alike,when I finally got a 500 dollar bill

500 jamican is a 3 dollar tip
@kimberleyb12393 жыл бұрын
If i remember correctly it is quite distinguishable. The difference is in the color of the note. 500 is brown or some earthy tones and 5000 is a mix of brown/blueish/purple hues. But they should by now make the 5000 more distinguishable. Make it a full blue or something.

When I travel with hubby or friends locally or internationally we always hit up the local supermarket for snacks and grocery we can cook (if there is a kitchen) to keep the cost down so we don’t have to eat out everyday. On a trip to Italy we made curry chicken one night while in Rome 😂. Plus you find snacks and food items to take home as souvenirs for super cheap and some of these same items you end up seeing being sold at the airport’s duty free shops for 2 to 3 times higher prices.
