Millions get these stents inserted in their coronary arteries and get back to their normal lives. How many have or are having problems with their stents and how many are or have not suffered any complications for years and years?

Totally agree. Was in ER wanting antibiotics for chest cold b/c urgent care told me to go to ER d/t my age. My heart enzymes became elevated in ER, my cardiologist ordered stress test which showed left side blockage. He then did an Angiogram which showed 70% blockage. He inserted something inside blockage, which hurt, and asked me whether I wanted a stent. I basically said it was up to him. Didn’t get stented and I am glad. I basically get heart medications from four different classes of heart medications and have no chest pain. I am 79 years and walk a mile every day and have excellent LDL, HDl and cholesterol.

I’m 33 and got a stent last year. Today chest pains or discomfort isn’t in my life at all until i smoke a tiny bit of weed after not smoking for a long long time. All of the sudden i feel symptoms like chest discomfort. I believe being a heavy smoker of weed & an unhealthy diet was what got me a heart attack in the first place. These days i eat fruit, do heavy lifting jobs, hike & walk normally… Just wished i can smoke weed socially with my friends like i used to. I sometimes believe it’s the stent causing those issues because before the heart attack, this was never a thing. 😢

Why would a stent collapse and migrate 3 days later? I would really like to know. The hospital and heart doc are refusing to discuss any of what happened. The hospital told me “go get an attorney”. I believe that they caused some kind of damage to my artery, that they over inflated my artery, or placed a stent that was too small. The hospital has never provided any of my current health care providers with the Cath procedure video or any other diagnostic imagery after numerous requests. There is something truly rotten about all of this. If this was an accident or negligence it’s now malpractice that they are trying to hide what happened. The hospital never billed me or my insurance a dime for my 4 day stay in their hospital. The billing just poof mysteriously never happened. If you have any advice please let me know.

I’m in this situation now. I have 3 blockages. 2 on major arteries. They couldn’t see through the calcium so they need to do an angioplasty to see exactly how much the narrowing is and decide from there.i agree with a lot of what this guy says but he hasn’t mentioned the LAD. This one need treatment. If you have a heart attack on that one you’re not going to make it to hospital. If I’m told this artery is 70% + blocked I abbé to take my chances with a stent. I’m terrified of the procedure and dying but I don’t think you can mess about with the LAd especially. I walk 10km a day and have been doing so for a year. I wy healthy (now) . It’s a shame but I need to hope things work out for me because by this time next week I’ll probably be in recovery (hopefully, please God)

interesting. My sister-in-law just had 4 stents put in and 1 seemed reasonable because 90% blockage (perhaps bypass better) but the other 3 stents seemed like a money maker move. Now my husband is going to a cardiologist, no symptoms, simply because his brother and sister have now had issues, and I am looking at alternatives but not interested in meds because that just introduces other issues down the road and meds are not a cure but a bandaid

The problem is is the medical industry!! they want to support their selves and the doctors and hospitals anyway they can, so if you fall down and break your arm yes go to the hospital if you're having massive chest pain yes go to the hospital get some tests done to evaluate what's wrong, a person's got to use their self awareness and Street smarts to recognize the sales pitches that a lot of hospitals throw at them but when it comes to operations like stents yes they can save your life and so can getting your broken arm mended back to heal. .

I had a healthy lifestyle only vice was ice cream exercise walk bike thousands of miles caught COVID January 2020 recovered without meds a year later started having small ischemic strokes that no one recognized then started getting numbness on the right side of my body, started taking low dose aspirin cleared that up but blood pressure continue to rise. Hospitalized in March and they did all sorts of imaging tests found nothing put me on a statin plus low dose aspirin and said I was good to go with no other problems. Got the J&J covid shot in May and in December, without any symptoms, I have a heart attack. Had a stent inserted in my LAD 99% blockage and in the process developed blood clots in my lungs and two in my left leg. 3 weeks later I'm in for a checkup and hospitalized again on three different blood thinners to clear the clots out then start a long slow recovery process slowly clearing my lungs. I never smoked anything. Unfortunately my heart ejection rate is now 40% from the blockage in the LAD damaging the heart muscle. Yes I did have some pain in my heart from the stent I believe since that's all they did. Unfortunately each of the statins they tried I suffered from all their side effects including kidney complications. My issue now is that I'm physically as fit as ever but my heart can't keep up, even after eating I have to take it easy as my heart works hard to just digest the food with a heart rate of 90 without moving around. And yes I did give up ice cream. Now I wonder if the stent was needed and if the unusual blood clotting was caused by the vaccination since I also developed a floating clot in my upper left heart chamber which required constant use of blood thinners to eliminate and when stopped for 38 days came back, now on eliquis.

I just had 2 stents put in for 80% at my LAD proximal and less but at the mid as well. I am 55. When my father was 55 in 1988 he was diagnosed with 90%+ blockage of his LAD. He died of a heart attack at 63. In 1988 bypass was the option and it was very dangerous and offered on average 7 years of life expectancy; he lived 8 years through diet and meds. If I had done nothing I would be looking at a 15% annual risk of a heart attack, but post stent with diet changes it is less than 5%. No guarantees, but do understand that your parents are a strong predictor of your outcome.

Listen to your body and don’t wait for that massive heart attack that might kill you. If you easily get out of breath walking or when doing anything physical, or just feel tired all the time for no reason get your heart checked out. Clearing heart artery blockages with meds or lifestyle changes alone takes supreme effort and a long time. This method is not a quick fix. Getting it fixed with stents and then modifying your lifestyle might just be a better outcome. You need to trust your cardiologist is not doing it just for the money of course.

Hi Doctor. I had a heart attack last 30th May 2023 very recent. I'm from UK 🇬🇧. A stent was put in one my arteries coz it's 100 % block. When i was in the t recovery ward I was told by 2 different cardiologist that my other 2 arteries are 70 & 80 % block and the best treatment for me long term is double heart bypass surgery. Im 50 yrs old male. Then, 3 days after they came back and said that i will no longer going to have a bypass surgery for now. But instead the doctors decided for me to undergo ETT stress treadmill test and decide from there. I passed the ETT test and no longer requires further treatment for now particularly bypass surgery. I never really had a chance to speak to my cardiologist about the risk of having 70 -80 % blockages in my 2 arteries. It means i only have about 30% opening left in my arteries which is very scary. Why is it they're are not gonna treat it with stent or surgery? 70 - 80 % blockages are very risky isn't it?
