Hi Susan! I have been following you for a couple of months. I joined Monet Cafe and have watched so many of your videos including this one. I've tried a number of your tuitorials and have learned so much. I love your style and especially love your comments on your faith as I am also a Christian. I just joined your patron and I'm looking forward to that. I am an acrylic artist but really enjoying pastels thanks to you.

Wonderful Janet! And I’m so happy to have you as part of the Patreon family! Bless you sweetheart! And many of the principles in my lessons apply across other mediums as well. I actually have a video coming soon where I combine acrylic and pastel! Thanks again sweetie and bless you for your support.

Hi Artists!! This painting tutorial is easy to follow and it's also encouraging to know that there is a set of soft pastels, Paul Rubens 40 Set, that is very affordable and a great quality. !! amzn.to/39KmGT0

As always, I love learning from the color choices you make to make the painting your own, not just a replication of a resource photo, and to see how you place color to show the influence of light on objects. For instance, adding the orange light flowing behind the trees that are closer to the viewer gives such a sense of depth and makes me want to walk to that space. Watching one of your videos each morning has become my daily inspiration, encouraging me to spend more time in my studio. Thank you 🙏

What a beautiful painting! As always, your art is absolutely gorgeous, Mrs. Jenkins. I love watching your paintings come together from start to finish, they are such an inspiration, and have such a sweet atmosphere about them that make me feel very happy. 🥰 I loved the music, too, such a pretty tune!

Wow. I am going to give this a try real soon. I have never used pastel but I recently got a small set. I am so glad I found your channel, because you have a lot of useful tips. Thanks for making your videos so comprehensive. I plan to watch this one again so I can follow along with my own pastels with you. 😁👍

I'll admit, my first response at the very beginning of the video was, "Define 'affordable,' Susan." 😆 But it turns out these really ARE affordable! Amazing! Thank you for sharing this.

I know, right!! Surprisingly inexpensive for the quality.

Fascinating to watch! Thank you. So interesting to see how long you continue to add detail. When you do it, it enhances the finished artwork so much. When I do it, everything turns dark and is overworked! Sigh!

Hi Susan! Great video. Very informative AND entertaining. In reference to your comment about Clairefontaine's Pastemat: the surface doesn't actually use sand, but I think it is some sort of cellulose or celluloid composition. In any case, it is a wonderful sutface for lots of different media. I love it for oil pastel and colored pencil.

Dear Susan, Your mastery of impressionist colour is amazing. One day I want to be great like you! Can Australians buy from your Amazon store?
@monetcafe2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much sweetheart!!! And as long as the products are available in Australia you should be able to buy through my Amazon Shop. Just be sure to check the shipping costs obviously. I know that many of my patrons from my patreon page that are from Australia share with me the extreme costs of getting art supplies :(

Hi Susan! I have a difficult time picking the colours for a painting and it's difficult to see the colours because I'm used to realism. I just don't see all the colours that you do. It's so hard!! I have numerous sets and I just can't do it correctly. It's very frustrating. What do I do? Thank you Susan!
@ElizabethBattle2 жыл бұрын
I think Susan mentioned that it helps to think in terms of value first, then color. Once you determine the values in your painting or reference, you can choose a different color than what you see as long as the value is the same. You can choose a color that adds more depth or contrast or mood; as long as it's the same value and is true to nature, other colors will work. I hope I have that right! 😊
@missdeesaccount2 жыл бұрын
@@ElizabethBattle Thamk you so much!! That makes it much clearer. Enjoy your painting Elizabeth!! Thank you too Susan!! Take care everyone!!

Out of curiosity, we're you able to find out whether these pastels were available open stock? Apologies if you'VE already addressed that question in another video but I haven't seen other new ones show up. (Yes I'm subscribed.) Thank you:)

Hi Lynxie… Doesn’t appear that these are available in open stock. FYI…They do have another set of 35 pastels that they’ll be sending me soon and I’ll be doing another product review tutorial.

Is that popcorn like pipe foam pastelers used for blending? I have never seen the pipe foam but I know what packing popcorn is.
@monetcafe2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it’s actually quite similar. The type I have is a bit softer than pipe foam insulation, but it works great.

I thought you might be interested to know that on Amazon Sennelier has a box of half stick 40 count for $40 which they run constantly. You just have to watch for it. Also Sennelier has the half stick 120 count for $120. Again you have to watch for it. Tfs
@monetcafe2 жыл бұрын
Yes!!! It seems that You can find some pretty good prices on Amazon for Sennelier pastel sets. I’m often sharing this with my patrons on my Patreon page. The 120 half sticks set called the Paris collection is such a great buy.
