Agree with you. We need to reduce the internal barriers and refine our own. We import most of our gasoline and diesel from the US when we could refine our own. Why would Quebec import oil from the mid east instead of western Canada?

Create what jobs for Canadians? The Canadian government would bankroll it with your taxes, our deficits would go up even higher (we just finished building a pipeline for them, did your life get better?), and we’d pay interest with that deficit financing for decades, from our taxes. The oil companies wouldn’t even say thank you, and Smith would still cry about how unfair Alberta is treated. The government may as well skip the construction project and give that money to Canadians directly, we’d see more of it.

And get the Texans pushing our product internationally with a cut? Could be huge. Morally bankrupt humans. Makes me sick. I’m entering 2025 with over 20,000 W of solar panels. We have two electric cars and I have no fossil fuel connection to my house. I am beyond oil . Oil might be embodied in some of my plastic, but at least I’m not burning it.

I ripped out my natural gas to my house in 2013. Installed 3.35 KW of solar PV on my garage in 2015 producing 6,000 kwhrs annually. I focussed on high insulation in my attic R80, walls R20, floor R20 and refurbished and tightened all my old windows.

Good for you, I’ll stick with my Toyota gas cars for now. I fix my own cars and drive them until they go to scrap yards. You use far more oil than just plastics btw.
