To be fair during lockdown, all that everyone did was play games, Roblox is catered towards younger audiences, Fortnite is just a more casual replacement for CoD for some people in some ways, and Vanilla Minecraft is just fun, also modded Minecraft exists. So honestly if anything it's that Hypixel isnt rly so popular with the new Minecraft audience because nowadays Minecraft is something more than Hypixel, back in the day you couldnt even go a day without being suggested videos filmed on Mineplex, Hive, or Hypixel, because mini-games were all the hype back in the day. Now most hype is around modded playthroughs, vanilla smps/smps with twists (Hermitcraft, Lifesteal, etc). TLDR Hypixel is mostly dropping due to mini-games not being as popular/not being the center of attention of Minecraft anymore like before.

It never was, get off of platforms trying to sell you things and entertainment, the core playerbase was always small modded multiplayer groups of friends or singleplayer. Only children were enthralled with minecraft like it was a TV show, and they didn't actually play it.

Copium filled excuse. If that was the real reason the player count would've completely dropped off months after the pandemic. Yet 3 years later its still dropping. Also; a lot of countries have had quarantine after 2022 and yet the player count never peake again

the first day they deleted SkyClash rather than putting them to classic section and focusing their entire resource for the three popular games, which amounts more than 80 percent if not 90 of their entire network. on top of it, their entire staff team has been out of touch for years, and reporting can only go through commands at this point, and the forum access is being restricted worse than it used to be. Hypixel at this point isn't incompetent, but treacherous.

It's really sad that skyblock is the only game that gets updates. Skyblock players always say, "well yeah they update it because it gets the most players" And they're wrong, skyblock was originally really small but they just decided to focus on that for like no reason. Hypixel is ass server… it’s laggy, 15 percent of players are either hacking or way too sweaty, and that just makes everything unfair, and now that the pandemic is over, people can go outside which results in less people playing on hypixel

You're kind of right, but one can argue that is not a decline in the player base being interested, but the hype also just dying down. Minecraft as a whole is still incredibly popular, but look were it was 3-5 years ago compared to now. Dream was the front runner of youtube for a long time, Pewdiepie has a series, Technoblade was growing astronomically, but everything has slowed down. Hypixels innovation could only take them so far, they were destined to fall, and way more than other servers since most of Hypixels players were on because of the popularity of minecraft, while smaller servers usually sustain a more loyal playerbase. Also its hard to compare hypixel with its players between the months of August and May, since thats when school happens, which causes many people to stop playing for long periods of time, the summer is where hypixel shines. I think they plan on trying to innovate more, since they've already talked about integrating newer versions as mandatory for certain things (specifically skyblock) but i dont see why they cant also apply this to other games on the network, and possibly new releases.

Great video but in my opinion Hypixel not adding new minigames isn't the reason its playerbase is declining. During lockdown, no one really had anything to do and now that people have other stuff to do than play games all day, every game's playerbase is declining. Hypixel is also still on 1.8 and as most people/content creators are slowly switching to 1.9+, hypixel is getting less love. Still though, 60k players on average is crazy and that's way more than any server. Hypixel also can't switch to 1.9 but great video anyways!

hypixel is an effortless lazy minecraft server that prioritizes releasing new content over fun content and on top of this the updates take a very long time to be released so that goes to show how shitty the server is playing on it is just a waste of time if you disagree, compare bedwars/skywars to grand theft auto 5 which is a good game or red dead redemption 2 which is the definition of money well spent also compare hypixel skyblock to wynncraft with wynncraft having plenty unique and fun content while skyblock is just the same thing repeatedly over and over until there is nothing left to obtain for over 3000 hours if you still arent convinced try playing master mode 5, 6, or 7. every single player in those dungeons are obnoxious toxic and racist plus you are forced to play with them if you ever want to progress through dungeons because the gamemode forces you to

The true reason for Hypixel's decline is the same reason just about every other large Minecraft server (with a few exceptions) have died. It isn't profitable to keep large Minecraft servers maintained and updated when faced with overregulation by Mojang. This is likely why the Hypixel staff were developing Hytale. They saw the writing on the wall and wanted a game they had more freedom over than Minecraft. The last few years were different only because Covid kept everyone indoors and many notable youtubers became popular for their gameplay on the server.
