In the US, hurricane loss prevention measures have made huge strides in the past century, making similar storms far less deadly (by more than an order of magnitude) while material losses have increased by at least as much, due to increaed population and development - more "things" in the path of the storm. In some cases, this increased development has also had direct impact by reducing water evecuation paths, leading even more "stuff" into the path of destruction, but fortunately loss of life has been reduced to a small fraction of what it would have been 100 years ago, notwithstanding population increases of over 100%.

What caused it? Back in 2011 we had a big earthquake in Japan, it changed the tilt of our planet and our planet is going through adjustments from the changes. The sun hasn't set in the same places it did before since then.
