Ok. Whilst I’m from Oxford, right now I’m in California and it’s wonderful to be able to sit here and watch your films. I just had to stop watching this one to make a comment - to make sure I said what needs to be said (and not forget later on!). Honestly; you are completely brilliant at this. Your message around ‘Aunty Maureen’ was beautifully done; heart felt, honest, interesting - actually professional. Your voice/intonation is compelling, your enthusiasm grabs you (one) through the lens. Your production values are better than some proper AV people. Blooming well done to the both of you. Used to moor my boat at Anderton so went through Maureen's lock many times. She was a lovely lady who always gave my two boys a packet of biscuits when we went through her lock! We were going down from the Middlewich Branch onto the T&M once when there was a stoppage. Loads of boats backed up. Maureen saw us and beckoned us down to moor alongside her garden on the offside whilst we waited. Needless to say when the lock reopened, she made sure we were very quickly through at the front of the queue! A real character.

Ever notice the news and live videos...everyone wants to be on camera to get their moment of fame....same with the people that come out of nowhere when your camera appears. Another great vid. Alas, I find there are far fewer polite people in the world than I had been lead to believe as a child. Apparently I am very gullible! Not too many free mooring so we had to moor next to another boat. He started his generator hoping we would not moor!! Hysterical Outtakes in this one guy's ;) I so much appreciate all the hard work you do in researching the history of the locals you visit. Your tribute to Auntie Maureen was so special and I found the photos of her being taken to her final rest via a Working Narrowboat a most fitting tribute to her life. Please keep the wonderful soft piano music coming, it is a perfect fit for your vlog scenes. And . . . I would be most remiss if I also didn't mention what a wonderful job you did again in researching and presenting the full story on the Canal breach near the Trent and Mersey. I felt like you did a great service to the Canal & River Trust by expounding upon their tremendous engineering efforts that went into rebuilding this breach to the point, where one would find it difficult to see where the breach occurred. I know many people like to complain about the CRT, but you have to hand it to them, they do a pretty good job of maintaining over 2000 miles of canal and trying to stay ahead of the vandal's I'm sure, is a tough job. And as always . . . I'm sure All love the drone footage, it adds so much to your videos and is so appreciated. Great work guy's . . . what the BBC would pay to have you on their team!

Another Happy Friday Vlog! Here in California, your vlogs usually arrive at 8 in the morning and it is a delightful way to start the weekend. Also, I’ve been in the television business for over forty years and it’s true, set up a camera and people inevitably show up. There is many the time I have taken my tent into the American wilderness, and chosen the most remote site in a campground, and then someone arrives and sets up camp RIGHT NEXT DOOR (when they could have chosen 20-30-40-50 remote places) and turns on their radio! The question is really whether people "don't even think about the ramifications" or whether they do it deliberately. Some people theorize people prefer to be near others when in the wilderness. I agree with you: if you can't decipher the "I have parked here because I don't want immediate neighbors" you're not really pulling your weight in the community. By the way: the quality of your canal-side photography just keeps getting better and BETTER. And I LOVE any & all train footage. Especially slow trains being overtaken by fast ones!

Great vlog lads. I love the history lessons. You're absolutely right about the moorings. If visitor moorings are busy, then you should moor up as close as possible to allow the maximum number of boats to moor there. When it is quiet, though, it is just plain rude, and even a tad creepy, to moor up right behind someone when there is loads of space. I've just watched Emma (Narrowboat Girl) and her Mum go through Wardle lock. They must have been right in front of you! 🤣

Hehe! I don't know why he stood there but I was there before him and he just lingered for ages 😂 Dillon's arthritis causes him to walk like that but it doesn't stop him enjoying running about, albeit for a few minutes, and then aching later 💜 Happy Christmas to you! 🎄

@@FoxesAfloat I suspect it's just curiosity. Maybe have some business cards printed with the channel details? When someone is hanging around that close, give them a card and after a few pleasantries, say "Sorry, but I need to get on with my filming..."

Would it be out of line to helpfully move their generator into the canal water? It would make it more quiet and also help to clean it for them. Plus, it'll be cooled down for safe stowing away when they're ready!

Merry Christmas guys. I have been following your complete experience from the start as well as other narrowboat vlogs. I must say, you boys are the best by far. Great content, filming / editing, the good, bad and the ugly of life without the drama other seem to believe needs to be in these vlogs. Two enjoyable guys sharing their thoughts and life who just happen to be living on a narrow boat. Looking forward to the next one.

On the reversing all the time, when I started work in outback Qld in the 80s I had a boss who told me he had hit a larger than usual pothole in a "road", which damaged his gearbox and left him with only reverse - so he drove in reverse for ~30 km to get help. A surveyor I knew had an imported car in the 60s which selected reverse by a lever, which meant he had four gears forward and four in reverse, so he used to drive backwards - in flat open country - at 60 mph. Another great vlog - thank you.

what happened to the kayak then? Peter here, in Ocala, Florida. i met maureen as a kid and she explained how on my own windless that I needed to mark how any years i had owned it with a notch for each year on the shank.... i think about this a lot, i dont know why, then i just discover this video!!! Interesting, she was amazing when she spoke to me, i remember it clear as day! She also told us about how boys when she was younger would try and jump the locks, the brave ones would jump them when they are empty. Come to think of it I remember how I met her, we were moored near the lock and I was fishing with my sea searcher magnet in the lock and she came out to tell me that I wont find anything in the lock... Ha ha.... now I know why! what an interesting thing i discovered tonight about one of my memories.
