I hired a boat called Wenlock from the Union Canal Carriers yard a couple of years ago. In the background at around 13:53 you can see a very small rusty listing boat, which is one of 3 micro tugs which were used by UCC to tow work boats while the Braunston tunnel was being repaired in the early 80s. They were small enough to be able to turn round inside the tunnel. :) The one in the background is called Mouse, the others were called Mole and Frog.

21:13 - Right there you passed the site of one of my best and most vivid memories on the canal. In 2002, we were coming up from Milton Keynes way and did the Long Buckby flight with a wonderful couple from MK (this is what I love about the wide canals - meeting people as you go up the locks together). We got along so well with this couple that we agreed to moor and have dinner together. We moored right at this spot and crossed the bridge (Bridge 6) for the half mile walk up the hill to Welton, where we ate at the White Horse Pub. We think about that day and those wonderful people to this day. Thank you for bringing this memory back to mind.

Man as soon as you did a overhead view of the marina the first thing that popped into my mind was “OMG that could be a narrowboat country club or spa with just a few more amenities…. But now the whimsical side of my mind has an idea….. instead of wasting all the pier space with hot tubs…. How about self propelled hot tubs? Take a 40 ft narrowboat hull and nose to tail put in a bunch of hot tubs into is and have someone in the marina just do a circuit and then a short cruise up and down the canal

As a truck driver in the late 80s l delivered the cement used in the restoration of Braunston tunnel . The pallets of cement were dropped straight into the boats from my truck , the boat would then be taken into the tunnel where the lads would work on the brickwork . I arrived one day to a commotion , one of the boats had sunk right in the middle of the tunnel and the lads had to swim out in freezing cold water . They both had hyperthermia but survived thankfully .

I know this is an older video but before this one, I’d been watching you from 2 years ago in Manchester. I clicked onto this video and I couldn’t believe how much weight you had lost. Before it was even mentioned, I was pausing and going back to check the video dates. You look amazing in this video, and years younger. 😂I was just thinking about that jacket being loose on you, and the next thing I know that exact same thing is being talked about 😳. It was a very funny and weird moment, it was like I was there and we were all chatting - that or you can somehow read my mind....from the past 😳eeeeek. 🙂🐿🌈❤️
