From my own 11 years of non stop research on tinnitus I would say this doctor is the most knowledgeable person on this topic of anyone I have heard. My conclusions on tinnitus very much mirror his conclusions. There is still tons of things to discover on this profoundly mysterious problem, but Dr. Golenhofen is absolutely on the right track. I would listen to a 100 more interviews with him.

Oh man when he started talking about how it changes a lot -- that's me! I started having tinnitus about 4 months ago -- ENT says it's TMJ. No major physical trauma or dental work, although I have extremely intense anxiety problems. I also have a long history of serious neck tension. Also have the sitting a lot for work, working on a laptop. Sometimes my tinnitus is screaming, sometimes it's gone, sometimes it's baaaaaaaaaarely perceptable -- sometimes it's all these things over the course of the day. Makes it hard to habituate! Heating pads, relaxation techniques help, but not in a precise way, so I never know what's going to be happening in my ears one day to the next.
@jasond47522 жыл бұрын
How are you doing now? Did you figure anything out or make any progress? I believe I have this type of tinnitus too. It's constantly changing, some days are pretty mellow and easy to tolerate and others are like you said, screaming. I can increase the volume with many different neck movements and also jaw movements. Even when I dry my face, just the little bit of neck muscle resistance required makes the volume much louder and sharpens the high pitch tone even more. Mine is predominantly a high pitch sound in one ear but there's also another sound that bounces all around, panning left to right, sounds like electrical currents, completely random, no pattern, so it's very hard to get used to. I just wish there was more support in the medical establishment for this. Other than these few experts on youtube there seems to be no support in real life when you go looking.

Doctor Thompson, Thank you for this video. I have had my tinnitus since Dec 2022. I researched the hell out of it and found the information on Somatic Tinnitus as well but this video fleshes it out in more detail and really confirms what I have read. However, to kind of point out an issue with this video, to see an ENT doctor in the US is a joke (or at least in Los Angeles). None, I have been to 4 of them, will take somatic tinnitus seriously. To the point, they will not recommend anything or refer you to anyone. I knew more about this subject than they did. Do you have any recommendations of true ENT doctor professionals in Los Angeles, or California in general, who will do their job to the best of their ability? I have family in Mexico and friends here who said the doctors in Mexico far exceed the doctors here. So if no recommendations, I may have to venture south but I was hoping I can save a trip. By the way, will be starting your Treble Health Treatment starting this week. Thank you so much for helping any out in this community!

What I find so frustrating about this is that Dr. Golenhofen never discusses how he treats somatosensory tinnitus, nor do you. Why would you do a 9 minute video without asking him that? I posted a comment on here a while back, and you responded by telling me to contact your office, which makes this seem like you're only trying to get patients to your clinic. I would travel to your clinic tomorrow if you can just answer this simple question: HOW DO YOU TREAT SOMATOSENSORY TINNITUS? As I said in my previous post, I've read studies online - some going back years - that suggest trigger point injections can help people with tinnitus caused by cervical instability. For all the people out there that you're supposedly trying to help: DOES YOUR OFFICE OFFER TRIGGER POINT INJECTIONS FOR THIS TYPE OF TINNITUS? IF NOT, CAN YOU PLEASE POST THE NAMES OF DOCTORS THAT DO?

Hearing fine, ears look great. I have noticed that when I touch certain parts of my jaw, ears, face, the tinnitus will stop, and then when I release that area the ringing will come back. I have been telling my husband, what if its related to a bad tooth.(which right now I have) I am very curious to see when I have my dental procedure if this may be what's causing the ringing. I've always suffered with tight rigid muscles in my neck and shoulders after that. I have tmj as well, my jaw clicks at times. I was in a car accident almost 7 years ago with whiplash injuries, after this car accident my tinnitus changed. I used to only occasionally get a ringing in my ear that would go away after a few minutes and now it's constant and doesn't stop. I have herniated discs and arthritis in my spine. Oh well I've gotten used to it.

Thanks for this video 🙏🏻 I had Tinnitus in my left ear and at night At night I clench my jaw very hard. Since yesterday also my right ear started ringing 😢 Is it possible that this is because of the jaw clenching at night?
@treblehealthАй бұрын
Thank you for your question! Jaw clenching at night can contribute to tinnitus, as it can strain the jaw muscles and impact the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), which is connected to the ears. If your right ear started ringing recently, it’s possible the clenching is a factor. Consulting with a dentist or TMJ specialist might help address the issue and potentially reduce the ringing.

Question, is clomiphene a common cause of tinnitus? I’ve read that it’s ototoxic but I haven’t seen much evidence from people saying it causes tinnitus
@treblehealth2 жыл бұрын
According the the American Tinnitus Association, Clomiphene is listed as a medication possibly associated with tinnitus. They share that just because a drug is listed does not mean that you will automatically get tinnitus, or exacerbate existing tinnitus, as there are numerous factors such as your own body chemistry, your sensitivity to drugs, the dose you take, or the length of time taking the medication, etc.

I have tinnitus for a couple of years and doing better over time. But not having the head sound would be better of course. I do have a question about this and the previous video with Michael Gollenhofen. So my unilateral tinnitus started really suddenly. Tests shows hearing loss in the high freqs in both ears. MRI and other tests done and luckily no other things found. The hearing loss doesn't feel like it came sudden, but for me it happened over several years. The ear with tinnitus is about 15 db worse. So the quick conclusion is that my tinnitus and hearing loss are connected. But. Unilateral tinnitus and sudden onset also sound like a symptom with somatic characteristics if I hear this video. Would my ENT be to hasty with the hearing loss / tinnitus connection? And if so, what can be done to find the somatic cause?
