Thanks for the animated video.I've suffered many years with dandruff & other scalp issues.I still deal with dandruff, but much less.I read somewhere, that junk foods contribute to dandruff.I read that a lack of water, can make dandruff worst! I believe that a poor diet, can also make dandruff worst.I push myself to drink more water.I have yet to drink as much water,as I need.I'll have to think of sneeky ways,to get myself,to consume more water.Washing hair with hot water, may cause more dandruff.I say, that a balanced diet/life is the answer. If you see a bit of dandruff, nip it in the bud.

I had dandruff til 16. Then i started eating well (before mostly junk food. From then started eating more fruit vegetables, therefore introducing vitamins fibers and minerals, and cutting some sugar). Dandruff disappeared (and so constipation. I used to evacuate once in 3 days, so i solved that too). Then, at the age of 20, during a bad anxiety/depressing period of my life, dandruff started again. This is my experience. Eating well solved my dandruff first time. If you have this problem, and eat not well (mostly unhealthy like i did) you cam try a better diet (also for havimg a better health in general)

I agree, the last 2 months i started eating healthy food and lifting weights with cardio, dandruff started going away and in just 1-2 weeks, it stopped . but then i got depressed again and started eating sugary snacks. in just ONE day dandruff returned. :)))))))))) it is mostly the food we put in our system. sometimes you think you're eating healthy but you're not. also it is most likely your body is lacking some of the nutrition it needs

Fellow people who don't have greasy hair, but often get dry scalp: do NOT use Head and Shoulders. Its intention is to remove dandruff, but not for dry scalp dandruff. You'll have an even drier scalp which will cause much more shedding. Instead look for more natural products like Aussie or Hot Six Oil, or diluted Tea Tree oil.

For a couple of months, my hair created dandruff. My mom says i never had dandruff before, and i know i never had, but now i have. My mom is suffering from dandruff because of a fungal disease from her childhood but, now i am suffering from that, too. I'll use some natural stuffs like homemade apple vinegar with water and a little baking soda. I don't use shampoo because that caused a lot of hair loss, so i am using natural Laurel soap, and a spray made of cloves tea. I thought that caused dandruff but now i learned what can cause that. Thank you

My 5cents for those with seborrheic dermatitis and frizzy hair: - Use warm or cold water, hot water can irritate the scalp and it opens your hair cuticles (it will dehydrate and look frizzy) - Leave the shampoo work for at least a couple minutes, meanwhile it is important to massage the scalp to stimulate blood flow (which is why it is ok to wash your scalp daily) - Avoid products containing silicone on your scalp!!! Many cases of dandruff are actually seborrheic dermatitis or folliculitis, and silicone will worsen them. The fewer products you apply when washing, the better. - Panthenol comes in many antifungal shampoos and it is enough to help condition your hair. - Your hair is frizzy and you can't stop using conditioner? Then use white vinegar mixed with 1/3 gallon (1L) of filtered water in a ratio of 1:7 to rinse your hair at the end and you will instantly feel how it relaxes (water with higher acidity will help close your hair cuticles and make it look smoother and less prone to breakage) - Damaged hair that needs treatment and dandruff? You can use 1-2 drops of argan oil (it is expensive but you only need that amount), massage the oil in your hand palms, then distribute it to your hair once it is dry without causing friction, and then use the tip of your fingers to massage the scalp. - And most important: let the sunshine on your scalp daily, not only you will enjoy an anti-inflammatory effect, but also has antifungal effects.

Well - a lot of possibilities. Almost 20 years as a barber, so I can tell you. Some possible reasons include dry scalp, irritated scalp such as from allergies to haircare ingredients or chlorinated water. Alcohol in dry shampoo and hairspray is a typical allergy that people can develop. Not drying your hair is a very common cause. Warm wet scalp grows yeast that causes itchy scalp. Chlorinated water helps create buildup on the scalp too by forming a film. You shouldn't use harsh shampoos. Use a baby shampoo that isn't a 2-in-1... just a simple baby shampoo. It won't cause irritation and it will leave hair squeaky clean and get rid of build up without over drying. Very gentle, very effective, and inexpensive. Try to filter water. Dry your hair as much and as often as possible. Avoid putting conditioner on your scalp. Just on the last 3rd or so of your hair (ends).

actual tips? - Don't use head and shoulders if it doesnt work' ( I use baby shampoo ). - Lather your shampoo until bubbly then apply to hair gently ( ROOTS ONLY & not with your nails ). - Wash it off, then apply conditioner to your ends only. ( it damn helps ) - Then wash, don't leave hair damp and don't wrap your hair with a towel please. -If using blow dryer try not to make it hot, cold is better ( ye, ik it takes time ). -If using a comb afterwards then use a comb that won't make use hair hurt. ( I use a paddle brush/all purpose comb ) Like if this worked so people can see it :)

From my personal experience, dandruff can also be caused by environment. I never had problem with it until couple of years ago when I started working in a company that works directly with copper. I wasn't aware of the cause & I've tried many different products to heal my scalp, until I finally found shampoo that fits me. Firstly I was using a medical anti dandruff shampoo that's not allowed to be used all the time, but I'm problem kept coming back. Then I finally found regular anti dandruff shampoo and now my scalp is fine. I noticed the cause of dandruff in my case was from copper is because when I was free of work for a whole month, my problem would disappear.

I think a helpful analogy is thinking about a garden. What happens when you have bare soil? Weeds are the first to arrive. People see them as annoying, but really they serve a purpose to protect the bare soil. over time as a more diverse group of plants come in, they will replace the weeds to return to a healthy, balanced, diverse ecosystem. Yeast in your body is the same. If you are lacking the balanced microbial ecosystem, the yeast will come in and take over to protect the “bare soil”. So really, the answer to dandruff is to restore a balanced microbial ecosystem, not fight and destroy the yeast. They will just keep coming back. The million dollar question is how do you restore a balanced microbial ecosystem in and on your body. The things that have been most effective for me, after trying many, many things, were the basics. Sleep well, eat well, be active, get sunlight, reduce stress.

That kind of dermatitis can be easily resolved with sulfur/peptides combination and is perfect for people who also had a hair transplant. Skinlyte has a soap that is loaded not only with collagen but also keratin peptides. It is called Hair & Whole Body Bar. It is fast absorbed because it has an enhanced binding enhancement technology which produces a water molecule that hydrates skin and hair. It repairs, rebuilds and strengthens hair and skin. I got it at Amazon and I am impressed with new benefits I discover every time I use it. I noticed many improvements in my hair, skin and nails. What I like best about it is that it's all natural and without harmful chemicals such as synthetic dyes, fragrance, SLS or preservatives.

You just said the opposite dandruff is because of oily skin & scalp as they mentioned more sebum causes this & it has nothing to do with diet I'm facing seborric dermatitis since i was born , the only way to treat this is be in touch with a good dermatologist & treat it using products like salicylic acid shampoo ketakenozole etc & control everyday stress tension

Making a common mistake…. I’m a barber, and a TON of people use Head&shoulders when they don’t need to!! 80% of people have dry scalp vs dandruff. If the flakes fly,it’s dry scalp. If they stick to your head, and are yellowish in color, along with a distinctive smell, you’ve got dandruff!! Use dandruff shampoo ONLY in this situation. Use for 2 weeks max.. then get it out of the shower!!! Using dandruff shampoo on dry scalp makes the problem worse!!! More dry flakes

@@shawnstone4949 I have incredibly dry skin, and by what you explained and in my own opinion, I have dry scalp. I’ve tried all dandruff remedies and *nothing* has worked - which explains it all! Please tell me you have some advice on how to get rid of dry scalp! I truly wash my hair very little as I’ve trained it over the years and I’d say my hair is in great condition. But my scalp is very dry.

@@chelseebarber3903 So.. you have several options.. first one being finding a hydrating shampoo. Best out there in my opinion is Redken All Soft. If that’s not in your price range, some L’Oréal shampoos are good for store bought. Other than that, try out a little coconut oil in the evening when you get home. Smal amount, rub into scalp, especially dryer areas.. let it sit… then give it a rinse for the night. That’ll get the excess out. No need to wash til next day. Olive oil works also, but is way more expensive. Give it about a week to hydrate back up.. and you should be flake free…. Winter time doesn’t help, especially if you live in an area that’s dry

You could use a shampoo with KETOCONAZOLE in it. I used to have a LOT of dandruff, like the amount of dandruff that would look like a snowfall on your hair. I started using a shampoo having ketoconazole and it helped me very much.Within a month, dandruff was negligible. You don't even have to use it everyday. It's like 2-3 times a week. And after the dandruff is gone, you can use it even less frequently, like once a week. I used Scaple+. But you could try any shampoo with ketoconazole.

If you have problems with dandruff, use Nizoral, it works really well. I had a dandruff problem that was so bad I was losing clumps of my hair daily. I used Nizoral and my hair stopped flaking after three weeks, I still use it regularly to prevent relapse and have never even had dandruff again. I hope this helps

NO. I think it's more strange that scientists talk and research on galaxies and blackholes some million LIGHT-YEARs away (which probably aren't going to affect our lives for millions of years to come) while they don't work together to solve hot unsolved diseases like Dandruff, AIDS, or cancer, etc. Maybe 1 or 10 brains can't solve the problem. But what if you put 10000 scientists in a single team ? I think they can . People's hair and confidence is on the line, and that's more important than blackholes (I think)

Its interesting how they just stop at "use anti-dandruff shampoo" - I dont think it's only genetic. I used shampoo that my dermatologist gave for a few months, and then I got so tired of using this medicated shampoo, I started using all kinds of fruits that I normally eat. I applied orange juice on my scalp, banana, avocado, aloe, mayo and what not and then I noticed I don't have so much of a dandruff problem anymore. I think shampoos are not the only solution, just the shampoo industry wants us to believe sadly.

Nizoral(ketoconazole) shampoo works perfectly for me. But you are supposed to use it only twice a week or your scalp will become resistant. I hot oil massage my hair and keep for 2 hours before shampoo, you should let the shampoo sit for 10 to 15 minutes and then wash off. I only did this for 3 months and Im fine now. i oil and wash my hair every alternate day with normal shampoo, it helps to keep the dandruff from recurring for me. The result will vary from person to person especially women who could have underlying hormonal issues. But you should always try medicated shampoo first instead of putting juices on your head.

I used to be a barber and ive only seen 3 things that work for dandruff or dry itchy scalp from dry skin in winter. 1. When you shower wet your hair thoroughly, Take a handful of Epsom Salt and put it on your head and massage the salt into your scalp GENTLY careful not to get into your eyes. Wet hair again and shampoo throughly with a MEDICATED shampoo. 2. Do NOT use the same shampoo for over 2 or 3 weeks, SWITCH out to a different shampoo often. Your scalp becomes immune to the same shampoo over time. Don’t use the MEDICATED shampoos all the time either every single day, switch often. 3. DO NOT touch your scalp with your fingernails, fingernails carry bacteria underneath them and can infect your scalp when scratching.

Salicylic acid shampoos and conditioners are my dandruff weapons of choice because SA penetrates through the oils, chemically exfoliates the scalp and kills the bacteria. Head & Shoulders type shampoos rarely work long term for me, but the zinc is good for soothing inflamed scalps. For your health. ;)

If you have bad dandruff try getting a scalp massager for the shower. It's a plastic "scrub brush" with silicone bristles. I bought one 2 years ago and honest to god it helped remove the dandruff. I went from "snow fall every day of the year" to maybe 1 bad dandruff day a year. I don't use it every time I shower, maybe every 3-5 times, but it's a HUGE HUGE HUGE help.
