The guy is so paranoid about being betrayed by beings who were hard-coded to be incapable of even wishing to do so (Albedo's desire to kill the other guildmembers being caused by his meddling with her programming, not a natural instinct of hers). -The Washimine Clan from Black Lagoon. Those people just WANTED to die. Making a deal with Balalaika, only to turn on her for doing her job too well? Now, if we're being technical about it, Piccolo could have used the Mafuba on Cell to seal him away before he could explode. Kami knew how to do it in Dragonball and Piccolo was fused with him at that point... but techniques like the Mafuba were generally put aside in Z so I'm not surprised nobody thought of it.

So this comes to mind cause i was just watching this today but Roku from Avatar TLA Man was battling a volcano and had it in check long enough for everyone on the island to escape and to safety. All he had to do was leave on his dragon but he kept fighting the volcano to try to stop it. That led to his death and the eventual fire nation invasion. You could say Sozen betrayed him in the end but if he had left on his dragon earlier he wouldnt have had rhe chance to be betrayed
