The education system is NOT the system to be tackling at home issues with kids, PERIOD! Furthermore, at home issues involving physical abuse, drug/alcohol/religion far outweigh how many trans kids are being displaced from homes. There's only so much you can do about household issues.

Appalling. I am honestly in shock, and I cannot understand what logical argument can be made against Smith’s policy. Children do not know what’s best for them; parents must be involved with their children's decisions until they are mature enough to make their own choices. I remember when my kid wanted to be called another name, I noticed because he started putting that name in his drawings. I actually was not pleased that the teacher hadn’t mentioned this to me. Most parents are loving parents who want AND must know what’s happening with their kids. We know them better than anyone. After I asked him, the answer was simple …as any child, No, he did not want to be another person. He explained that he just thought it sounded cool, like McDonalds the burgers. I kindly made him understand his real name and why it is just not possible to call him McDonald’s - he used his real name from there. He is just a kid!!!!!!!!!!!
