Up in BC you can dive with the salmon run at Campbell River!

@@theorangescubadiver Yeah - I also have always wanted to river dive during a thick salmon run in the PNW. Wonder if we have missed our chance for this year? Was peak time last month?

@@curtisjohnson6735 Not sure! I'll have to look into that.

Not too late! Different species of salmon will run at different times and it depends on the river. Generally until the end of November. You can check with salmon enhancement or stewardship groups in your area. They might be able to recommend a good place to get in the river that won't interfere with spawning. 🤿

Queen 👑 and protector, rescuer Abby 🐕❣️ When she sees you go under water her instinct is to save you. What a sweetheart 🥰 I love you 😍 adorable Abby dog 🐕 ❣️ Looks like you had a great time and made some new friends! I’ve never been in the Snoqualmie River and been here over 20 years! Been to the falls many times. Beautiful area, and thanks for the clean up. People really need to go by the motto, you pack it in, you pack it out…leave no trace.

Another unique dive... thanks for sharing... 👍⭐ I have to dive vicariously through your vlogs... Only warm water locations for me... 2mm-3mm colorful shorty wetsuits... Enjoy the ocean depths, sea creatures and set a fashion statement all at the same time! 😆 I KNOW.. I KNOW... ONE HAS TO BE ABLE TO DIVE ANYWHERE AND ANYTIME TIME... 🤔... NAH! 🤣 Buena Suerte y Vaya con Dios!

I get it! Warm water diving is much more comfortable, but I just do what I need to do to get in the water😁

cool... i did tonnnnns of river diving when i was learning how to dive and also becoming an instructor back in the day. if you're ever passing through southern Oregon, about 45 min east of Grants Pass there's a killer dive spot on the Illinois River. really great, cool features, lot's of fun, can even get down to about 60' in some places depending on the current river volume! I used to take my students there for check out dives, so it's pretty manageable stuff and (relatively) low consequences :)

You said that you decided to not do it in side mount but I've found it easier to get in and out of my kayak in sidemount than I ever did in backmount. You just have to keep everything tied off when paddling around.

Shallow rivers…free diving for debris feels efficient. Cautiously unwrapping nets, lines, bands, plastic bags from coral or picking up lots of tiny debris….scuba! River cleanup crews should also time their efforts to avoid frightening salmon especially adult, endangered chinook.

That is an important point. We need to be mindful of the environment and wildlife while cleaning up.
