Well let's take a quick look 2 years later, massive droughts affecting water levels, massive forest fires in Australia, California, and Greece, warmer temperatures, and more severe storms, so we're definitely on track. This is one of those issues that I don't like showing the results to the naysayers to prove them wrong because this is one situation where we all lose.

We are all talking about what is going to happen and what we will all have to face in the future... Individuals are trying to do stuff, like zero-waste, veganism, no plastic, minimalism... But that has a very little effect, something (a lot actually) should be done globally. We all know that, but the truth is that it is just not profitable for the people in power to become extremely eco-friendly. And that is it.

also the most important kind of regulations, as in those that affect the giant american corporations that account for hugely disproportionate contributions to carbon emissions, are the hardest to pass when those very corporations effectively control their only regulators through lobbying, threats of funding political opponents, and expensive legal teams experienced in delaying any progress

We need to put a price on Co2, that is what the left in Australia, 10 years ago, was trying to do. It should have been done 20 years ago and it would have been easier now. The longer we leave it the more abrupt and destructive it will be. When the right got back in they undid everything and took us back to square one. One of the first things we will notice is more wars, rearmament. More wars bring more refugees which in turn bring further unrest where the refugees go or as in the case of Australia, are stored. It will start in the poorer countries, such as the middle east, and spread to the others. The danger here is people will be kept busy fighting those wars and creating more Co2 to do anything about the problem of global warming. Imagine the population of the world trying to get into America. Capitalism has caused this with their protection of the bottom line, so that will have to be an early casualty. The alternative is the end of the human race. We need to kick out the trumps of this world, they are a waste of time and space, and get an armlock on big business.

This should be treated like the emergency it is. Governments are far too timid in dealing with climate change. Back during WW2 we didn't just use taxes and subsidies. Governments would mandate factories switch production to wartime production. Civilian tires were rationed to save tires for military purposes. People would be conscripted to fight in the war. Why can't we take the same approach to stopping climate change? Not enough construction workers to build solar plants? Conscript them. Given that all the labor involved in transitioning to clean energy is relatively safe it's even milder than military conscription, it's more comparable to jury duty. And not enough of a needed resource, make more factories produce them. We could build up the clean energy infrastructure much faster than just prodding the markets. I'm not saying we should abandon capitalism, I'm saying that the potential dangers of climate change make this an exceptional situation and governments should respond accordingly. Once the clean energy infrastructure is fully in place we could go back to a free market in energy. Nothing is more important than the survival of our species and that is what is at stake. Planned economics is generally inefficient. But we should risk some short-term economic inefficiency to guarantee our survival. nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2017/07/climate-change-earth-too-hot-for-humans.html

@@GabrielCarvv 1. It's celcius 2. "Global average" means, air temperature over the oceans will increase less and most of the warming takes place over the continents where people live. 4°C of global warming would translate to around +10°C in the US mainland. That's +18°F. Winters will be warmer too, summers will be much warmer, what we today call a megadrought will be normal weather. The US will experience severe desertification, especially in the Midwest where most of the agriculture is produced. It will likely not be able to support a population in the hundreds of millions like today. The problem is, this kind of apocalypse will be going down everywhere, and at the same time. The Sahara desert will cross the Mediteranean and engulf Spain, Italy, southern France; England is going to have a California type of climate, etc. (Basically, the climate zones all move polewards by a few thousand miles.) And by the way this is set to go down in our lifetimes, not "future generations". Good luck. :)

Stating that the UK has been able to reduce their carbon level to pre industrial levels is inaccurate and dangerous. All developed countries rely on the manufacturing and labor of less wealthy countries. Developing countries are maligned as having rising carbon output and food shortages while in reality they are carrying the burden of the rest of the worlds hunger and greed. So, no, I wouldn't praise the UK for keeping their own streets clean by dumping their garbage elsewhere.

The video did't mention, Agricultural failure, followed by severe food shortage, followed by cannibalism. Food shortage comes as a form of price hike and will be taken up by the people(most likely by the same people who created the climate change in the first place) who can afford to pay the high price. That would multiply the degree of shortage. Agricultural crop failure can be expected by different reasons, two days without water, three days of heat wave, one flood. You can be dead three days without water. two weeks without food. After that, anything can happen. Feed your pets and kids good while you can. You'll need them. it will start happening once every several years, becomes every few years then every year occurrence. Each time more severe than the last.
