Mary Loves Makeup77 I agree. They both have their great qualities. Admittedly apart from cool rider and reproduction I think the songs in grease 1 are better but the stories in both films are very enjoyable to watch. I probably watch grease 2 more though!

Oh my God that's so funny you said that, Reproduction and Cool Rider are far and away my faves in the film too! I agree with both of you. Grease is superior, but Grease 2 is enjoyable. I avoided the later for years due to it's poor reputation but really liked it when I saw it.

I LOVE Olivia! The Grease soundtrack was my first album in the 70's as a child. I wore out the Xanadu album when I was 8 years old. Physical I also played to death. I did enjoy Grease 2 as a little kid. We had cable and it was on all the time so I saw it a lot. My mom used to make me laugh by saying ,"It's Michael! It's Michael!" from other rooms while it was on. I liked the music and it was fun for a little kid. Though Xanadu is my guilty pleasure. Best soundtrack ever to me.

Grease was far better it was my childhood movie I was four when it came out I wanted to be John Travolta I was in love with Oliver. As for Grease not that bad of film not sure why it flopped so badly I liked quite a lot of bits in it Maxwell and Michelle had great chemistry like John and Oliver did.

Grease was a much better overall movie than the second, but Grease 2 hit a lot of people on a more romantic and personal level. Even though there were significant flaws in the film, the director was able to capture the dreamlike relationship between Michael and Stephanie so masterfully, it forces most viewers to overlook everything else that was wrong with it. And she does it effortlessly from beginning to end. The fantasy is so captivating, you’ll even find yourself singing along with songs that would never be able to stand on their own outside the film. It’s really quite amazing.

Well, then that’s your personal opinion, because every review I read said Grease 2 to had a terrible soundtrack compared to the first movie. The only song they said was any good was “back to school”.

The original film cost 6 million and took nearly 400 million at the world box office. Grease 2 cost 15 million and took 11 million at the world box office. The original soundtrack for Grease hit 1 in the UK and the US for months and throughout the rest of the world. It yealded number one hits such as Grease, Summer Nights and You're the one that I want. Each of these songs sold millions of copies. The soundtrack for Grease 2 didn't even dent the ot 100 in the US or the UK, or anywhere else in the world. The lead single 'Back to school again' failed to generate airplay and stalled at no 63 in the UK and 71 in the US. It's clear that millions of people didn't give a fuck about Grease 2 actually.

Sorry, but you're deluded. No one liked Grease 2 apart from a small group of people. Most of them are on this board. Grease was number 1 for months and Grease 2 didn't even chart in the entire top 100!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No one liked it and it's one of the biggest flops ever. It is totally nowhere near being close to even equalling the brilliance of the original classic film, which was also the biggest movie musical of all time for over 30 years.
