Nirvana's Unplugged set is what introduced me to Bowie, Leadbelly, and The Meat Puppets. I listen to those artists and feel my awareness for music I may not have otherwise been exposed to, expand. Kurt had a way of making every song he played sound deeply haunting. 🖤

Great cover, one of the best acoustic performances, in their own style but has great elements of the original.

I know how beautiful "Unplugged" is. I had it in my hands before it was officially released in my country (some mistake between the store and the wholesaler and i had it a few days before the premiere). But i can't listen to it because i see Kurt suffering. I have the same problem with Alice In Chains "Unplugged". I remember exactly watching the first time premiere on Mtv in Amsterdam, and i already knew that if i ever buy it on cd, i wouldn't be able to listen to it often.

I have similar thoughts. I hardly listen to them.

It's a great cover of a great song.

People often try to find out what the lyrics of a song are about, why some artist wore that specific outfit on that specific day, why some band decided to include a specific song to their setlist, etc... Sometimes, there is indeed a reason but sometimes, it's just a coincidence or a lyric line that sounded cool with no special meaning... I'm not famous, so no one is going to wonder why I chose to cover some song but I can imagine people spending time and energy, trying to figure out why I covered a specific song, what it means to me and why I decided to play it now... when in reality, I just thought it's a cool song, a song that is fun to play and wasn't too hard to learn...

Who cares if he didnt hit the right note in his solo, he still pulled it off and was a functioning heroin addict whos life was chaotic as hell at the time. His version was an improvement IMO on the original. He even said during the show something to the effect of "I'll try not to screw this up." at one point and was able to pull ot off without any issues. Their unplugged and AIC's were both great, and Layne was doped up during his performance as well and even had to have the video reedited before he let it be released, since he thought it made him look like he was nodding off too much.

I've never liked the MTV Unplugged album. Too few originals. In fact, I prefer the Reading 1992 version of The Man Who Sold The World. That's an amazing live album.

He hit the wrong note at the start of the solo. But I always loved how he changed the vocal solo of the original into a lead guitar part. Effective.

I always thought it was done intentionally.

@@seasonaldepression840 I don’t think so. I think this is the part he talks about at the start
@seasonaldepression840Ай бұрын
@t3br00k35 Maybe, but the fact that he brought it up beforehand, then did it is what made me think he did it on purpose.

But he did screw the song up! He totally flubbed the transition into the guitar solo! Still an amazing song, though. Kurt recovered promptly.

He did screw up. The first note in the solo was sharp!!!

This isn't classical music where you have to play a piece exactly note for note, this is a rock cover
@ChillnelАй бұрын
@@whocares_bearhaha rock needing to be in tune is laughable, the best rock has unique inflections. Metal probably uses more particular pitches lol 😂

Nirvana version has that really bad bum note in the outro solo. Ruins the whole song... Not without a hitch.
