North East india is not just about food, fashion, scenic beauty, etc In North East India you will find: It's the largest producer of tea in the country. The only river island Majuli is found here The best silk, oranges, limestone, muga silk, Orchids (350+ variety) hottest Chilli, is found and produced in this region. The only floating national park is found here. The historc Assam Rifles, Assam Regiment and fierce Naga Regiment is from this region. The 2ng largest natural Golf Course is in this region, so is the wettest place on Earth. The living root bridges in the country are found only in this region. The form of matrilineal society is found in this region. It is also a dowry free form of society and women are respected here in this region than any other parts of the country. Numerous palaces with a lot of history is found in the NE Region. It is also home to the only one horned Rhinoceros in the world. It is also home of Lachit Borphujan, one of the greatest general whose heroism culminated in the defeat of the Mughals and stop their expansion into the NE. Numerous soldiers from this region had given up their lives in Kargil, Kashmir and other frontiers and they all died not only for the NE..but the whole country as a whole. There are so many more unique features, history, cultures, etc that one will find in the region. Every state has their own unique identity but what binds them all is the flag that flies in ever State of the North East and that is our tricolour, the Indian flag. On a parting note to all Indians...it doesn't matter if you have visited North & South America, Europe, African Subcontinent, Whole of South East Asia, and even the Poles, etc. You will always be poor if you don't know the geography of your own country. To my NE brethren, please add any more unique feature that you know of from the region in the NE you reside. Forgive me if i left out anything else for I can't remember all of them.
