Which nurse specialty are you in the Air Force? Which ones would you recommend, I plan on doing NECP but do not have much experience

I'm a critical care nurse. That is a hard question to answer because there are different jobs in the Air Force and one job that I would have wanted to do is flight nursing, but because I'm in a high demanding field i cannot be released until i complete my 2nd contract. So things changed drastically in the air force and what you can and want to do honestly.

I found your videos on KZbin and watched most of them, which inspired me to reach out. First of all, thank you for your service. I have always been interested in becoming an Air Force nurse, but the age limit was quite restrictive before, and I didn't have much experience. I recently discovered that the maximum age limit has been raised to 47 years old, which has reignited my interest in becoming an Air Force nurse. Before I see a recruiter, I would like to ask you a few questions, if you don't mind: 1. What tests do I need to take during the application process? 2. What tests are required during OTS, and what happens if I don't pass them? 3. What is the maximum age for active-duty Air Force nurses? 4. Will I have the opportunity to stay at an international base for longer than six months, based on my preferences? 5. I have three years of experience in IMC and ICU and two years as an acute care case manager (away from bedside skills). What field would you recommend I apply for? Thank you for your time and assistance.

Thanks for your comment. 1. no test, just one or two interviews depending on what specialty you are going. 2. 2 major tests during OTS; academic assessment 1 and 2. 3. maximum age now i believe is 47. 4. depending on availability, specialty, and need yes the possibility is there. 5. It depends on what you want to do with your career. I cannot answer this for you. although IMC has more bases, the possibility of going to a base you don't want to may happen.

Omg I’m from Reno!! So cool to see. I have 3 months left of nursing school, secured a job in the ICU. I have always had the feeling of wanting to join the Air Force. Think I might have to do it. Is there a way to get a job in critical care starting out in the military?

I am not in the military, but have done extensive research on the nursing aspect, and the only way to go into air force as a critical care nurse is to have that civilian experience as an ICU nurse first.

NPs yes, but they can only function in the RN capacity to which you already are practicing WAYYY beyond your scope of practice in unregulated and even some times regulated missions.

I’m a CCATT RN. You would have to enlist into the USAF. You won’t be an officer. I’m not sure if you would have to go back to school and go through RT Training.

If I get in the nurse corps, is there an option to go outpatient nursing? because that's my only experience

based on your experience, the recruiter should place you in a field where you fit in the best. so yes, most likely clinic/outpatient nursing.

Hello thanks for the continued support. You will need to become a US citizen first then have 2+ years specialized experience. OTS is HIGHLY competitive and if you don't have you citizenship you will already be disqualified. I made a video on the requirements for selection for foreign educated nurses! Actually I found out you just need to have a green card... Which is very difficult and takes years but the military actually speeds up the process of naturalization with those who have green card​@@genesis.kts_
