Bryan, you’re a madman! I completely understand - I had the evil green palys and though they were actually quite pretty, they overgrew EVERYTHING. They were the ones that ended up making me sick but I don’t have them any more, thank goodness. You did good - I think the new rocks look excellent! 👍🏻👍🏻

I like this new look a lot. For months now I have been toying with the idea of getting some new rock and trying to make a legitimate aqua scape that I can place coral on. You just made me want to take the plunge...lol
@ThaBiznessReefTank6 жыл бұрын
Do it! You wont regret it. I sure don't. Now Im just waiting on the new rock to turn the same color as the rest of the reef.
@Cherub726 жыл бұрын
i like the rock work, crazy you didn't cycle it first but the brownness will pass. Anything to get rid of those nasty palys though! congrats
@ThaBiznessReefTank6 жыл бұрын
Cycling it first would have taken to long. There is probably 120 lbs of years old rock left in that I thought would take up the slack. Didn't see a cycle

Dude, new scape looks amazing! And we've definitely all been there... A few years ago I threw out over 100 lbs of nice rock that was covered in those same stupid Palys..best decision you'll ever make!

Awesome!!! Better flow now. Minimalist is usually my go to on a 6 foot sps tank... where is my sps frag pack tho???🤔
@captivebredcanada6 жыл бұрын
We've all been there. At least anyone in the hobby long term. I'm looking at these tiny purple clove polyps which are similar to the blue ones and debating gluing over some now. Usually like you I just pull a bit out at a time and keep it under control.

Big tip - make the structure outside the tank and let it sit for a day or so.
@lillybain87996 жыл бұрын
Cheers for the tips I will do that, make sure it’s nice and steady ✌️

Tha Bizness Reef Tank the new aquascape looks good. You mentioned letting it set for a few days but did you have any concerns about phosphate leaking from the new rock if it hadn't been cured for a few months? (Newbie asking)
@Ellery-USA6 жыл бұрын
I hear ya dude - in the same boat. I scrubbed all my rocks of palys and mushrooms and 10 years later they are back. Thinking about restarting again after 12 years of running.
@ThaBiznessReefTank6 жыл бұрын
In one case I even muratic acid bathed some rock and trash palys still came back. If they were named zoas they would have died when they hit air or alk changed.

The tank looks good. It looked good before but I know how it is to have something in your tank that isn't bad but bothers the crap out of you. Be careful in the future not to expose yourself to palytoxin.
@ThaBiznessReefTank6 жыл бұрын
Palytoxin is definitely a issue. That's the reason I decided to replace the entire area instead of continuing to pick with tweezers. Little by little I removed the rock to cut back on exposure. Gloves required!
@anniejefferson76146 жыл бұрын
Be careful. Brs rock will cause a cycle/crash if you don't cure it.
