The makeup was a type of Gyaru style a few decades back. Ken Takakura is a well known actor from a lot of older Japanese films, and considered by many to be the epitome of masculinity in his time. The equivalent to someone having a huge crush on John Wayne or Clint Eastwood from their movies when they were young. Her reacting to Okarun saying those lines and then giving his name were if a boy unwittingly quoted two lines from your favorite actor from your favorite movie of that actor, a movie that most other people have never watched, and then finding out he was given the same name as that actor at his birth. The other episodes are more 'safe.' But you will likely enjoy them.

If I remember correctly, the manga shows what the actor looks like along with that "awkward fellow" quote when Momo was talking to her friends. So, it was clear when Okarun says the same thing and revealed his name. Not sure why the anime decided to skip that visual.

She's the MVP of the show for me. She's incredibly expressive (and often absurdly funny) with the delivery of almost every single one of her lines. The way she can nail both being fierce and strong-willed AND at the same time being a bit childish and kind-hearted when she wants to is amazing, really. @@JohnBogna the line is exactly the same both in the (original) manga and in the Japanese audio. This is only an issue of the sub translation being occasionally a bit iffy. For the record the “DUBS” have their fair share of iffy translations as well. For instance a lot of Momo’s lines come off a bit more harsh/judgmental and less humorous than they should be , both in tone and wording (I.e. a surprised “You gave up really fast there” vs an angry “come on, you barely even tried”).

The first episode is really wild, and I don't think ANYONE who has seen it was comfortable with the abduction scene - which is why you're so hooked on seeing how she gets out of it. The rest of the show is a fantastic blend of comedy, action, mystery, and all of that is just dressing for the real star of the show; the romance.

this show unironically has one of my favorite voice casts in anime, like period. it's nothing insanely moving with big flashy screams and deep emotional teary scenes, but the way each VA brings the LIFE to the characters they play is something that you absolutely can tell stands apart from a lot of other shows. they don't feel like characters being voiced, they feel like actual people. it's AWESOME.

I came home from work early due to kidney stones and just started watching this series for no other reason then it was what Netflix suggested and all I wanted was a distraction from the pain and next thing I knew I had watched all the episodes and in dub (it's extremely rare for me to watch dub) and I gotta be honest the dub actually wasn't that bad surprisingly.
