Fun fact about Mexico: when Anschluss happened, Mexico was the only member state of the League of Nations that protested Germany's move to occupy and incorporate Austria into the Third Reich Their protest fell on deaf ears, because ofc it did, it's the League of Nations, but as a symbol of gratitude, the austrians named one of the squares in Vienna Mexikoplatz after the war

Something that doesn't get mentioned is the manpower of Mexico supplementing the US. Perhaps predictably, Mexican workers were brought from Mexico to work in the fields so the US wouldn't suffer any food shortages. Moreso than this, Mexican army personnel helped fill the ranks of the US Army with several Mexicans receiving high military decorations up to the medal of honor. Mexico did quite a bit during WWII and their efforts seem to be underappreciated.

Plus 250,000.00 men join arm forces taken to Europe.supplied more strategic raw materials than any other Latin American nation, including zinc, mercury, copper, graphite, cadmium, and lead. Good Job but I have to disagree with you on the 30000 Japanese put out of action. The US Army ground forces including my uncle a member of the 1st Cavalry division fought at Manila in 45 and it was the ground forces that contained the Japanese in northern Luzon, not the squadron. My dad was a veteran of Okinawa too. My wife who is Mexican born says in Mexico they claim that without this squadron the USA would not have won the war! which is so laughable, even she laughs at this! But I did recently see a real 201 squadron patch for sale at a militaria show for 2k
@JohnnyJohnsonEsq2 жыл бұрын
When I found that number I took it to mean part of a joint contribution. I think it was almost 280,000 Japanese troops that fought in Luzon and when you add the squadrons strikes in Taiwan it's not an unreasonable number. Sometimes if you just hit a bridge or shipping you can "put out of action" thousands.
