Absolutely disgusting. I feel your pain Rusty. As a business owner myself, this is just poor in all aspects. I cannot trust PSA (who sends their cards to BCEE in Indiana for grading, so in fact it may not be PSA's fault here as far as who opened your packs, but rather BCEE - all just speculation based on recent events), but I heard that BCEE will not be grading any more Pokemon cases or packs, anymore. I was about to send in a huge order of about 100 packs, too, and now that's definitely not going to happen.

Similar to yourself, I had 100 card submission almost ready to send off but have decided that I am no longer going to use their services.

The whole reason people chose PSA over Beckett is that, for a long time, PSA was known for being easier 10s than Beckett. It got popular because it has lower standards. Rusty deserves way better treatment, but this really can't be that unexpected.

Why i have never sent a single card to be graded. PSA have so much business now they would treat Rusty like this? The guy is like their number 1 client before all the logan hype, did the customer service rep even know who she was talking to?? just look at Rusty's registry.......the guy is an Arceus. I would definitely take this further, not just for yourself Rusty but for the community, if they treat you like this, what chance does the little guy have.

Most big companies will be like this tho. I mean it’s gonna take a lot to file any sort of case against the company if they can even get a legit one. They’d rather have an upset customer in limbo than anything else. They know they will get their money since grading is so backed up.

Try filing a complaint with the BBB. The company shouldn’t be allowed to get away with pricey mistakes like this. They get away with damaging goods way too much. And need to have more footage for transparency when this type of stuff goes down. Especially to hold the employees at fault, accountable.

BBB will ABSOLUTELY help here. I’ve used them to get MY money back FROM PayPal twice. PayPal charging me and taking money without authorization, BBB is who got it back for me both times.

PSA has been a scummy/scam company from the very first card they graded. You should look up the history on the VERY FIRST CARD that PSA graded. They graded an altered card as real and authentic. I have been wondering why everyone else didn't realize this a loooooooong time ago. All the new pokemon hype from 2020-2021 got a ton of people into pokemon grading and they all just assumed PSA was the authority on grading and just never did the research on the company. (And by research I only mean a couple google searches)

I think your anger is justifiable Rusty, it's because you're passionate about the hobby and trust is a factor for us collectors. Rattle mentioned BBCE refused to show their "process" of pack grading and how shady that seemed. I'd be very surprised if there is a recording of them with your packs, I think that was a lie to try and dupe you. BBCE has graded so many counterfeit packs and now with this whole Logan Paul debacle, I don't understand why PSA is still doing a partnership with them. This further further proves that PSA is less about the hobby and more about face and money unfortunately.

I sent in my childhood base Charizard (should have graded like a 2-3), and got back a graded 8. I sent in an Evo Charizard (should have been a contender for 8-10), came back as a 5 with sooo much damage. PSA seems to be super risky to use right now

PSA f*ks up way more than is acceptable. My last submission was for 3 cards worth nearly $10,000. A sealed PLAY Promo Vaporeon that I opened and submitted. It was minty minty and got a 10. A Gold Star Rayquaza that had micro scratching all over the surface and slight whitening on the back. It looked like a 6. They gave it a 6. Perfect so far. And then the big one--an Unlimited Mysterious Mountains Charizard that was NM-Mint in my eyes. It had 3 pieces of chipping on the top. No scratches, no dings, not OC, nothing else wrong. I had pregraded it an 8 or a stretch 9. It got a 6. Cracked it and subbed it to CGC. 9.5 Centering, 9 surface, 9.5 corners, 8.5 edges. But a PSA 6 LOL

BBCE are the ones PSA contacts out for pack authentication. And Steve Hart, the guy she mentioned is the owner of BBCE. He is incompetent. Cool trainer Ryan has graded packs from them that are fake, and resealed. PSA needs to drop BBCE.

This reminds me of the time Rhymstyle sent a Rayquaza secret rare from dragons exalted to PSA. It was pack fresh and they didn’t grade which is bad enough, but they also sent it back to him not in a penny sleeve or a fucking card saver. A card worth hundreds of dollars they didn’t even properly encase. Even worse he sent it back in and they graded it the 2nd time

Rusty, you are a much bigger man than myself. Thank you for sharing these words of wisdom and I agree for the most part. I would have long ago been done with PSA if I had the mistaken grades and such that they did you wrong by. I have brought your opened packs up in quite a few live chats and comment sections of other poketubers. The whole situation disgusts me, so I can only imagine the restraint and patience you have. Good Luck with them and in all you do. You are a beacon for this community, a light in the dark for those wanting to learn about pokemon, and a truly good person. You downplay all you do, but I believe you know that you're widely respected by many, many collectors. You have accomplished what most of us aspire to, while maintaining your dignity, honesty, and love for your family above all else. I'll end by saying I think this is very petty on PSAs part and they should own up to their mistake by making it right with you.

That footage would be “lost” so quick. They’d never let it come to light sadly. And whom really knows if they even have a camera directly over where customers orders are being unpacked. But the huge downside to legal action is what Rusty himself said. He didn’t record packing and delivering the items to the post office. So their argument would just be that he opened them. It’s sad but it’s just a lesson for us all to learn from.

@@alexhill2495 no I don’t think that’s it. I was talking more in the aspect of having to video record your steps so you have a fighting chance when things like this happen. You may not need it 99/100 times but that 1 time you do you’ll be glad to have it. It’s sad that it comes to that but imagine if Rusty had videoed himself opening the box, weighing the packs out, packaging them up, and delivering them to the post office. Then he’s got all of the evidence on his side and would have a leg to stand on. Obviously he couldn’t have known something like this would happen. But that’s where we learn as a community and put safe practices into use. That’s all.

First off, love your positivity man. As we are getting older it’s getting easier for me to see clearer and more level headed. Kind of reminds me of road rage or something haha. I just don’t get as mad anymore like I did when I was 19 or whatever. We have things to lose now and it just isn’t worth fighting and stressing out over. After hearing this and the recent BBCE issue with the sealed case I think we should all step back and rethink grading packs with PSA until they properly address a new process or something.

Sorry to hear about this Rusty. I'm a big PSA loyalist as well, but stories like this and the recent BBCE drama really make me question my posture heading into the future. There is also a part of me that thinks that if you care to make more noise about this, they will make it right. And that is mainly because it sounds as if that last conversation completely missed the point/idea on the concern that you raise. Such a shame, but sometimes its the only way to get anything done.

Thanks for the follow up - my impression when I saw them is that it’s possible they just weren’t sealed all the way when manufactured. It doesn’t make a lot of sense that they would only open the charizards and that they’d open them all like that, and they all looked very similar.

😡 I'd be mad to man, I think the Icing on the cake is them repeatedly offering the grade fees...that's like getting your food order wrong and instead of them fixing/replacing your meal, they say they can only give you the tax from the purchase back and leave you with the wrong meal

For high value items like that, record yourself packaging the items, sealing it, and put a signature date on the tape. Put the label on as well. I’m an eBay seller, and I do that with all of my higher value items. You have to have proof nowadays on your end to protect yourself

I gave up on PSA after they damaged cards and didn't grade certain cards I got from packs for ," trimming". My dad started grading cards in 98 and I started getting cards of my own graded in 2016. After 2019 orders started getting longer and longer. Four hundred and fifty five days for a 25 card order and then I get upcharged for several cards. I've moved onto SGC and they've been amazing. I got a few submissions to HGA & CGC and they've been good as well. The PSA & BGS backlog is just pure insanity at this point. Goodluck rusty

Man your outlook is incredible, I feel so much pain for your loss of those packs, but you handled this perfectly. Lawyering up may be expensive, but making videos like this and good PR can definitely hurt them in the long run. I was debating submitting a bunch of cards to PSA, but now I think I'll be using CGC or Beckett.

You’re a really good person. We sent in an autographed photo that the PSA sticker was damaged on. They scratched the whole surface of the photo and ruined the autograph with whatever stuff the person hand on their hands. My husband was so upset. It took me months and many calls but they only us half of the declared value back. The customer service rep pretty much told me that they damage so many items that they had backlogs of claims of them damaging things. We had a case of cards we actually wanted to send in to be graded but after that experience I’ve been too scared. They tried to tell me the damage was from me. The hand print on it was way bigger than my tiny hands.

Good lesson to know when to move on sometimes. Unfortunately you're not going to win as you mentioned you have no evidence and they won't share theirs. There are multiple publicized instances of PSA failing to honor their Financial Guarantee of Grade for cards that are clearly 7-8 quality at best in a 10 case recently. PSA knows people will continue to use them regardless of the treatment. Maybe some day that won't be the case but for the foreseeable future it is.

About 2 years ago I sent in a base set Charizard that I pulled myself. It was prestine, even better condition than my 10 that I already owned. It came back an 8.5 and a pretty large scratch on the holo. I fought it, even had video proof of me opening the pack with the card, showing the overall condition and putting it in the card saver. Was told the same thing, they reviewed the footage and claimed it wasn't a fault of theirs, end of story. I'm still tore up about it as I pulled the card myself, very irritating.

One possible explanation is that they blew open in transport by the postal service. You see air fright does not get pressurized, so the air pressure inside the packs is considerably higher. If you look really close one of the packs did not even look fully opened, just partially, so this may be an explanation.

Lawyer up. Not only can you force them to show footage and get compensation for the packs and possibly lawyer fees, you'd be compelling them to take responsibility and think twice about dealing badly with customers in the future.

So sorry for your situation. Literally hit me hard having some of the same cards I've been holding for years. I have never trusted PSA and this is literally my worst nightmare and the sole reason why I haven't graded my vintage collection that includes many 1st edition Neo Genesis chase cards. It's been like this years ago with the bait and switch sports card drama as well and I genuinely wish people would stop supporting them because this has happened multiple times to many other people. I know people want the highest value and documentation for their collection, but it's scary when something like this can happen.

Never send them back, they’ll really try and get over on you. I tried to do the right thing when they sent me back damaged PSA 10’s. Rep agreed that they were damaged from handling and encapsulation. Sent them back same as you, I put the declared value equal to what fair market value was on the 10’s. PSA calls me back, offers me $10 grading refund per damaged call, then offers me my previously declared value which was not based on a 10. I said that’s not right and they scoffed and said that’s all I’m getting. Asked to escalate it and they said ok but the deals off the table and I might not get any compensation now…. Beyond ridiculous.

I lost all my trust in PSA since they graded all the Unlimited Base Set cards from butticards (austria) on which he printed a 1st Edition Stamp with an UV Printer as authentic PSA 9 1st Edition cards. I really dont know how many 1st Edition cards with a fake stamp are in PSA Slabs... Only going with beckett, sold all my PSA slabs.

Kudos to you for being so positive about such a crappy situation. I think how PSA is "handling this" (aka choosing not to handle this) speaks volumes about their company and their commitment to their customers. Sometimes actions speak louder than words and their choice to NOT take action is pretty much all we need to know about them.

Thanks for the update Rusty! Man.. this seems to be PSA's new playbook. Last year, I had two cards that appeared damaged. I contacted PSA, and got the same run-around. I also spoke with Nanette, and got the same offer, just a refund for the grading fees. They also claimed to have video of my cards, but wouldn't share that. I should have taken photos before mailing them, but even in that scenario, I figure PSA would claim they must have gotten damaged during shipping. Gonna cost them a lot more in bad publicity now!

Never cared for PSA or their slabs plus they rarely use half grades which is a more accurate system of grading...personally I go through CGC and of course Beckett is another established and prestigious company to go through...it's a disgrace that we put our trust in these companies and insure our products and something like this happens carelessly without taking responsibility for their actions and why we have insurance in the first place on valuable items such as thousands of dollars in sealed Pokémon packs...keep your head high Rusty and always look at the bright side and be grateful for the things we do have in this world and keep on doing what you do best for the community...we all love and appreciate the time you spend creating the content for us viewers!

Today there is very little loyalty in business. Especially the larger it is. You can be a customer for one day or twenty years and the service you get in special situations is the same.

Thank you for this video , Rusty. This is appalling. Adding to the fact with the recent scandal involving the BBCE and how PSA has their packs authenticated from them, this is not going to sit well with a lot of the grading community. Hopefully the resolution is swift. You have MAJOR pull here as you are looked up to in the community.

BCEE has even admitted that some fake/resealed Pokemon packs have made it through their own grading process into PSA slabs

Is it possible they were opened in shipping? This isn't the first time it could he heard of that some handsy postal worker got into the packaging and opened the packs hoping to get something good. At that point, it could be neither your fault or PSA's fault. I've seen quite a few horror stories on Reddit of people sending cards or ordering things online and getting opened stuff or having things missing from sealed product. Either way, this is a sucky situation but the only thing to do now, since PSA doesn't claim responsibility is to sadly just cut your losses. Keep on keepin on, Rusty!

Sometimes if packs are shakin up violently a lot during transportation or something, the cards can actually split out the bottom like this. Which would make sense of why they are all opened the same way, and why PSA claimed they had no idea about what happened.

I had 2 metal charizards with PSA in house when they announced they wouldn't grade it anymore. I challenged them to refund everything to me including the shipping fees I had to pay to get it to them in the first place and if they didn't then I would report them to the better business bureau and the attorney General. Eventually they sent me a check in the mail for reimbursement. I had nice people who were patient with me. I definitely let them know I was mad though and maybe it played a part. What really made me realize how fucked the situation was tho, was knowing that PSA probably wouldn't have done anything if I didn't go an angry customer reach out anyways. If PSA did, they probably would've included the shipping reimbursement for every customer in the original announcement. Sigh alas good ol PSA.

It's amazing to me the amount of people who will continue to stick up for PSA no matter how bad their customer service is and how bad their grading is. You're a great person with a great outlook on the situation and life itself. It stinks that things happen like this to good people. I would absolutely love to see SGC takeover the market from PSA but unfortunately I don't ever see it happening 😕

Rusty is a pro at this. He’s definitely not sending heavies to be graded. So I’m gonna say all packs were weighed out. Heavies we’re sold off or kept and the light packs were sent to grade as he said he opened the box.

As my situation is truly bad and my current struggles 😪 I feel that there is hope and life could always be worse. And right now my life is truly not in a good spot. From my wife having covid and us loosing pur apt 2 weeks after Christmas to a house fire to now my family and I living in a car trying to get back to the top. You have to understand PSA sister company with PCGS we are talking billionaires especially on coin collectors but wow 🤩 you have several top registry sets and your being treated like this ?! Wow not good !!!! I would call PCGS or collectors universe ! I also have a top pop registry set with PCGS and by no means would I take this BS you need to at least consult with a lawyer bro !!!! And your humbleness is amazing I’m so grateful I just found this channel I was really mad at Leon heart but you made me see a lot of positives in life thank you for that ! Mate, I’m not going to lie I have just solely subscribed to you based on how you have handled this situation. I agree, it’s not your fault and yes, PSA should be doing more to at least prove/compensate a large chunk of the losses at hand. But as a grown ass man, sometimes it’s hard in life to say “you know what, it’s not fair but sometimes that happens” when you already have whatever lifestyle you’ve lived through, got or are going to have and for that mate… I respect you as a human being. Man if PSA won’t accommodate someone who has done so much to push PSA grading of Pokémon cards good luck to all the regular Joe’s who submit to PSA. I’ve been saying this for awhile now that PSA has gotten too big to fail or take any hit in market share when they screw things up. Increased prices, ridiculous turn around times, poor customer service… they really don’t care because too many “big” collectors only collect PSA master sets… it would take a huge shift in the market for them to change or do something. I for one will not be grading with them soon I’m still salty with turn around times and ridiculous submission costs.

I record packing the boxes, writing my initials on the tape on the box and a video of dropping the box and with the marked tape at the USPS. Also video myself opening any incoming tcg product whether eBay or Amazon(sealed product). But that’s because I’m a freak. It actually saved me on a damaged MtG box that got damaged and opened in transit since they don’t regularly take returns in boxes.
