Those packs are really neat. I enjoyed seeing your collection. I dont see those old frames here, or I'd buy one to try out. Ive been using a surplus German rucksack for 20 years but its got so much wear on it that im starting to sew up next to the spots i already sewed up. Been looking for something else about the same size and configuration. 1 big main bag with draw string closure and a waterproof top flap that actually covers the whole top. With a pouch on each side big enough for a large water bottle and an open space or tube behind it to slip an ax handle through. I dont like any of the modern stuff with zippers and way too many compartments. Padding all over them, yuk. Cant afford the Duluth packs with out selling a kidney or some guns. And that aint gonna happen. So i figure im going to have to make my own.
@MuskratOutdoorsКүн бұрын
Thanks! I really like the "Trapper Nelson" pack boards. Some have long pins that hold on a removable pack bag. I was thinking about making one also. It's funny how the computer that isn't watching you, is watching you. Suddenly, I'm getting a bunch of backpack ads on mine. I looked at some really flimsy nylon ones this morning that ranged in price between $200-$650. I don't think I've paid more than $30 for any of these.

Good morning and many blessings. Yes Gary you're a Backpack hoarder. But nothing wrong with that. As long as it's ok with Cindy. LOL The "Pack mount's" are awesome. I've been getting rid of my life recently because it's all in my daughters basement. We came across my backpack I used in the late 70's to hitch hike to Washington State from Colorado. I did it twice. Once alone and once with a friend. I was happy to hear my daughter say "Keep". Thanks for the video Gary. You and Kevin have brought back fond memories that were lost until now. You all must be amazing people to have as friends. I wish the best for you all.
@MuskratOutdoorsКүн бұрын
Good Morning and thank you very much. Stuff like that is just "Stuff", or even "Junk", to other people, but to those of us that used it, it's packed plumb full of great memories. It's kind of strange how something that is worth nothing, can be priceless at the same time. I'm glad this made you think of those things again. Yeah, I wish the Wilderness wasn't in between us and Miss Kitty & Kevin. We don't live very far away from each other, but getting there is a 7 hour drive. We could have some great adventures!

I got a passel o' kids and grandkids that come huntin season, are sportin packs, and tents, and sleeping bags, and rifles and fishing tackle that they "borrowed" from Grampa with a solemn promise to bring it back when they're done. Guess most of em won't be done with it till well after Grampa's gone. Hell, how much stuff can they jam in the box with me when I get planted, after all? Take er easy!

Iffin a miracle happens than I mayhap need to become the ol mad 😠 Jack, with #7. Wait by now it could #12😮. Back in my past even with 🐎's my 🐕 would also pack. Mostly there own food, but pack none the less. Don't believe I ever owned more than two human packs at any one time. Usually a soft back pack, and a pack frame easy changed. Today I still have two but both are soft used mainly as day pack carrying enough for three days if necessary. One of which I really don't understand why I keep it. It only hangs off one shoulder that I used a lot to bow hunt elk n such. However Today it's hard on my back so left home a lot. 🔫 collecting is another thing. Mountain man

Ha! Nope, I cover it up! I can't believe how many people don't know how to flush a "woods toilet". I don't find near as much of that here. Watching his video today.....disgusting! He was saying there was a lot of hunters there too. I haven't seen many here at all? Then I got to thinking, he is North of Boise quite a ways, but close enough for those folks to go there on the weekend to hunt. We are farther from a big city like that, so maybe that's why? Rifle season, there's a lot here, but they stay and set up a camp.
