Billy, I'm glad you addressed some of the comments, I don't understand why people think it's OK to tell you how to do your projects or even tell you you're not paying someone enough when they aren't the ones doing the work or paying your employees. You are doing a fantastic job with every project. People have no idea what goes on that you don't show. Keep up the excellent work!

Well, I understand you wanting to rant at dome of the comments. Only you know how much you pay your staff and it's no one else's business. It's clear to see you open your home to friends and family, and we can all see what a jolly environment you make for everyone. As for how you chose to decorate the convent or not decorate, the convent is up to you. It's you who will be paying the bills and no one here in the comments. We are here as guests because you have invited us to share this journey with you, and guests should be polite and respectful. Wishing you every success in all your endeavours. 😊

Our over 100 year old home 3 storey plus a basement ( built late 1800 .s ) would bang and creak on its own … pressure release from the timber’s , old nails popping or joists releasing some pressure … being a wood construct within a rock walls makes for great accustics ! Like living in a piano !!!

Too much wood? Who cares what another person would say about too much wood for the project? Its your vision and its practically perfect in every way! Having a USA Southern senior woman fall in love with the project and faithfully watching the progress says something. So what its too much for someone else's liking? Its not their property, not their project, not their concern. Whatever creative gene runs through the Petherick family sure shows something extra. Please tell Michael to show us his progression on the chateau downstairs kitchen. I would love to see that too. All the best.

You just know that the people saying “too much wood” are the kind of people watching those upcycling channels where they take antique furniture and smother it in some overpriced grey or swamp green paint from a pretentiously named company and pretend that they’re so creative and unique despite hundreds of other people destroying furniture the same way 😉

We live with at least 3 "haints" (southern USA for "ghosts"...lol) in our house. Only one is actually attached to the house as it's not all that old. One may be attached to the land rather than the house. And one is probably a family member. I was on the fence until I moved in here. EVPs, lights turning on & off (witnessed by others and literally on cue), items missing that turn up where you KNOW you looked and you're the only person in the house at the time. Thankfully, all benign. Our version of "coexist" is different from most! 😁

As a paranormal investigator, my suggestion is put the recording device on each floor in random places. Put it where most daily activities occurred when the building housed people. That's where you'll find more recordings that pick up sounds and voices. For a camera, use one that has night vision or all spectrum.

Billy, Alex, Yanis, and all of you working on the convent - Hello from Birmingham, Alabama! Everyday I look forward to seeing another video of the work that’s been accomplished. Even though I can watch it on my phone during the day, I force myself to wait until I get home so I can see the work on my (much larger) television. Watching the work reminds me of a time when I worked on my own old home. Billy, your comment to preserving the structures and history while modernizing it is wonderful. The kitchen is awesome! I can’t wait to see what you and your brother (and everyone else) do with the kitchen at the chateau. I’ve never heard of too much wood in a library. Keep doing what you’re doing. Your instincts have been spot on so far. While many of us live vicariously through the videos and have our own ideas, we aren’t the ones directly funding it or having to live with the work. Keep at it. When you recently toured the pantry for us, you pointed out the two transoms. I think the two doors were just there for bringing in produce. I don’t think one was in and the other out. What I do wonder is where they processed the produce for storage. Is there any indication of an area where they did, or do you think they just did that in the garden using the well water to wash it? Many of the comments have already covered my ideas for recording. The two small rooms in the attic. The area where the writing was on the wall. My adds would be the confessional area, the apartment where the fire occurred, and maybe the Mother Superior’s apartment/office. Yanis - Thank you again for the interview. I wish you all the best. I look forward to the next video!

I'm glad you are doing it your way and that it's not going to be restored to be a museum. If someone in the future dislikes holes in original floors, that will be their problem! I always wanted a house with a library. Yours will be cozy and warm with the wood everywhere. Like a library should!❤

I love it! I am deliciously impressed, you have great style in decorating 🤩😍 I would put the recorder in the areas you are renovating now, I'm sure the nuns are walking around at night to see the progress.😉

It is all coming so well Billy, I don’t know how you keep everything, and where it will go in your mind. All that stunning wood is going to be spectacular once it is in place and given its treatment. I love how pleased Yanis is with his new sledgehammer, his smile could light the room. I discovered that I can get Osmo here in Canada, so that will help bring back the beauty of all the wood in my old Arts and Crafts era home.🖤🇨🇦

You want it to look like it was added sympathetically to its period without it looking like you were trying to recreate the building it would have come out of. The listening device should definitely spend time in the chapel, the refectory, Mother Superior's room/office, and the basement.

Great opening, Alex, so spooky. I’m getting this feeling that the night recorder leaning against the stairs might end up at the bottom. If I were a ghost I would be oh-so tempted. Hope not, though. Billy, the library is looking great. Love all of the Rothschild wood. I also love the idea of the deep red velvet lining, or even dark green (saw that in a glass-cased chiffarobe done by the folks at Escape to the Dream, if you know them.) The joy in Yanis face with that sledgehammer!

As an artist it is difficult to hear peoples criticism when they can not see your vision. Do your thing…it looks fabulous. Also, love the Ghost Hunter bits. Maybe Dark Nun will talk to you. Maybe she’s not so Dark ❤️.

Yay, Alex is a tea man! These vlogs are now like mini documentaries and are very interesting. Having worked in a municipal library for sixteen years that was housed in a mid-century modern building that had timber paneling as its main feature, there is not too much wood in your library. The books will break up the paneling enough to add interest. Also, Edd showed a little collection of books in their latest French Antigue Auction vlog that would probably be a great addition to the library for days when the comments or the recorded sounds become overwhelming. It is all white noise. The real stuff is happening in the actual renovation. And the windows reinstated in the stairwell, brilliant!

I’ve been a fan of your channel for a long time. Billy, you are an amazing renovator with an amazing vision. Love your library plans. Adding to the library a grand piano and some couches to relax would make the library very intimate. “Lounge at the Library “. The Convent is very spiritual and yes, souls wonder your halls.

Billy, it is great that you are taking on such a huge project and bringing something that was not used to restore to be fully functional. Yanis is definitely amazing person on your show and his willingness to learn shows his true honorable character. I enjoy watching you process how your creative process works. It takes courage to put oneself out there as it is easy to by a target of negativity, so thank you for you and your team to bring the shows to us. Wishing you all safety and happiness and continue to Crack on. 🎉

Billy you are building my dream. I always dreamed to have a proper library. People today don’t appreciated the beauty of wood. In the DUI the first thing that most people want to do is put a coat of paint on the piece and called it shabby chic. Personally it is a shabby look. This library was not in used for a while therefore the wood is dry and dull. Before you make negative remarks wait the finish projet, it will be fantastic. ❤🎉

Billy I love that you are reusing the timber for the library. It’s looking absolutely beautiful and as an avid reader I can imagine nothing better than sitting in a comfy (probably vintage) chair in that library and enjoying all the gorgeous reused wood panelling around me. What a pity I live in Australia and so probably have no chance of ever doing it!
