Sword of Vishanti works like a sword and the portal is a magical doorway coming out of thin air, if Dr Strange just removed the portal with Thanos in the middle of it then obviously he would be cut in half cuz the portal that would allow Thanos to travel to another place would be just disappearing in thin air, causing one part of him to stay in a place far from the other half.

The Russos were wrong on the Dr Strange part. The portal is magical, so if Dr Strange just removed the portal with Thanos being in the middle of the portal then obviously he would be cut in half. The simple answer is that Dr Strange didn't use the portal on Thanos because the Russos didn't want him to. Different directors use different characters differently. Sometimes the writers and directors of the same movie have different opinions on the characters.

Bhai In 2nd part of wolverine we see that Ichiro yashida try to steal the healing factor from Logan using samurai armor suit and we also watched dr. Green's venom affecting Logan's healing factor and in the movie's end we see that yashida suck the fluid (which is responsible for Logan's healing factor) using his armor which is not injected again in Logan's body and since then we saw Logan aging and as he wants to die from a long time and as admantium is killing him he do not try to cure it.
