Always love to see something new. Even the simple things. It's called 'local flavor'. Man, I don't know how you were able to handle all of that "traffic" towards the end? 😂🤣

Often, they are the best days. Traffic, a term that means something different to many. Manila traffic much different from traffic here. Quieter the better.

Always nice to see you and Wilma! You made a good point in the comments, about having backup glasses for even the back up glasses... That's the way you have to do things in the Philippines... We enjoyed the visit to the market. When I visited in May/June, Lilia's sister and niece went with us to the big market in Valencia. It's always fun to visit these. I think yours has better prices than Valencia. Bargain price for your scooter service there. We may be in the market for another Click 150i for Lilia's 2 nephews to be more independent with their college classes.

I was thinking I'd just service the bike myself, until I saw it was only $8. That's cheap and it gives the place some business. When you panned around some of the vegetables there I noticed the potatoes and reminded me of the sweet potatoes in Leyte. I have no idea what variety they're called but I absolutely love them. I have never been a fan of sweet potatoes here in the states, not as a child and still don't at 53.

While I don't mind the small engines in the RP, what I don't like is the cramped feelings if my girl is riding with me. Unlike my mid-size 750 Honda Shadow in the USA that allows me to sit back from the handlebars allowing more control.

I had a Yamaha 1700 Roadstar and Kawasaki 1700 voyager. Could never handle those bikes here. Road conditions, especially in towns, would make it unsafe.

@buildingthephilippines do it in Japan. Lots of good clinics there with good ethics...in fact maybe too good ethics. Sometimes in Japan if you don't go with a local that speaks Japanese they may refuse service to you. In the USA it can also be done, but would cost 3 to 4x the price in say Japan or Taiwan. Stay safe.

Hi Greg & Wilma. How far is this market from Dauin? I’m curious, why don’t you buy fish or meat from this market? This market only operates 1 day/week?
@buildingthephilippines27 күн бұрын
Dauin to this market is probably 6 or 7 kilometers. We don't buy any meat at open markets. They are open only on Wednesdays.
@ShikokuFoodForest27 күн бұрын
@ Is it really unsafe eating meat bought from open markets in the Philippines? This is important to know since I sure don’t want to get sick. One area I’m considering to relocate is Zamboanguita. Are there safe options to buy meat there such as a supermarket?? Or will I have to travel all the way to Dumaguete regularly to buy meat or is there a closer location? By car, how long a drive is it to Dumaguete? Thanks. David.
@buildingthephilippines27 күн бұрын
@ShikokuFoodForest we personally buy our meat in Dumaguete. Approximately 45 minute drive.
@DavidWilliam-nv8ij27 күн бұрын
@@buildingthephilippines Thanks! I just realized: is there a possibility answering my question honestly could wind you up in jail? Is talking about this type of information really that risky in the Philippines? So the only closest supermarkets are in Dumaguete 45 minute drive by car or scooter? That’s quite a commute - and gas to burn - just to buy a chicken breast, some ground beef or a steak several times/week. It would be a long commute by bicycle… lol!
@buildingthephilippines27 күн бұрын
@DavidWilliam-nv8ij maybe you misunderstood my response. Zambo is approximately 45 minutes to the place we (me) buy our chicken, pork, beef. There's plenty of open markets all over the place to get this product, but we (me) don't buy from there. We have 2 freezers at our house, so we travel to Dumaguete once a month to buy our product for the month. We freezer wrap in portions per meal. Similar to like going to Costco or Sam's in the US. That's our approach.
