I get it. I'm back to just a Delica. No clip, gray FRN scales. It was a fun game for a good while, but I'm trying to be less of a consumer, more of a minimalist... decided to liquidate while there's still a healthy used market. Less weight is always better, and all my 'collections' are weighing me down.

Very respectable choice. 😎

I second on that delica… 20 plus years ! Have others but 95 percent it that delica ( and same one). Delicas and other spiders all over the house . In the trucks … keep giving to the grown daughters for years . ( when I asked them what they have on them if they don’t have it, they get another one.) My love for the delicate comes from a couple different directions . First, my brother gave me one over 20 years ago and it replaced my everyday carry of a craftsman (made by Camillus )5 inch lock back used for 10 years elevator trade. Second, I love that knife. I used it for everything almost abused it. … It was a workhorse. It was the steel sided one.. With all that use and muscle memory… it came into play when I was jumped downtown Atlanta in the underground parking.. bum with a piece of pipe came at me from one of those large concrete pillars… here I’m a blue-collar worker and I’m not a small guy… but I got to tell you that knife was out in my hand without a conscious thought… seriously I don’t think I thought a second about it. Just the whole thing about muscle memory, and that thumb hole…. Hell the guy did a 90 right in front of me. Oh, by the way, this was right before lunchtime…, Soo that’s why I am a believer in this knife. They can be fairly cheap…. Oh, and like when I hit the blade show there’s quite a few dealers to have these used… so I pick him up either personally inspecting them used or buying them off of reputable dealers on eBay. I tried caring, larger spiders… Enduros , police models … my hand just naturaly grab those though .. My one son-in-law loves the paramilitary 2 . For some reason wife only wants to carry her native that she got at the blade show 6 or 8 years ago. But to all of this family ,,, it’s nice to know you’ll have to give much thought to how you open any of these knives… Now let me talk about the fixed blades I have scattered around the house……

I just got some colorful titanium scales from Lynch NW for the delica that made this knife my favorite in the collection. It adds a forward finger choil and has beautifully drilled holes that remind me of something from olamic cutlery

I quit buying stuff in like 2020 when prices went nuts. They want more for many semi-custom knives today than entry level rifles.

Understood. I’ve started liquidating all that I don’t use, don’t use much at all, or might be a reliability issue, e.g. ball bearing pivots. I’m making a single exception to ball bearing pivots: a Viper Oniro. I just like it. What will I keep? I won’t know until I’m done.

Thanks for the video, Nick. Informative and entertaining as usual. Do what’s best for you, man. I’ve said it before and I will say it again. Your video opening the TSA confiscated knives is probably the funniest and most entertaining KZbin video I’ve ever watched. You are a gem, sir. Hope you do an on screen collab with Metal Complex one day that would be great. MC impersonating you just isn’t the same. lol Have a good day.

This video is exactly why I PATRONize Nick. The important technical details, but experiential and so descriptive that I know exactly which of these knives I want to look at. And I agree, smaller sizes are better. I am all for less frequent, more thoughtful videos from Nick. It turns out that I have spent a fair amount of money on items that Nick reviews have played heavily into my decision to purchase. I do not believe the KZbin algorithm takes this into account. If they did, I think Nick’s channel would rank very highly among advertisers and sponsors.

I always appreciate a Nick Shabazz review, even though, I am more into watches, and a lesser extent, pens, with knives a distant 4th after leather goods. My actual EDC consists of a rotation of watches (more than I actually need but hey, it’s a thing, a Fisher Space Pen or Parker Jotter, and a Victorinox knife. Mini champ Alox on the keychain always, and a Climber, Tinker, Spartan or Pioneer Alox close at hand in my desk drawer or car glove box. I know knife guys like yourself most be horrified, but that is basically all I need from a pocket knife.

It's strange how we feel burnout differently. I recently demoted myself because of burnout. Almost unheard of where I work; only one other person has done it in 50 years. It's great, much less responsibility, don't have to think about work at all when I'm off, etc.
@justhereforgear34414 ай бұрын
@@dcamnc1 I tend to get bored when there's nothing left to learn, no new tricks to learn. I work in a factory so tedium is the name of the game. I'm working in a completely different department now so it's all new and exciting. For now...

What a great mental exercise. I admit that I have a similar innate compulsion with my watch collection. And sometimes I'll catch myself thinking "what would the community like to see me wearing (or talking about) today" (cool points) versus just what fits MY mood, desired level of comfort, features, or just plain fun. Often times, these things do not align 😅 Great message, Nick!

Nick I wish you the best first and foremost. I dont have nothing fancy it just isnt in the cards however when I reach for something its what I get out of carrying it. I have to buy knives that make since to me. I make sure it has my preferred method of deployment and ride goods in the pocket. Also if it satisfies me when I use it. Right weight, right size, satisfying action and if do I care if it gets used or not. So I dont buy knives that will just sit in my drawer. Have a good day and hope to see you return
