The Dude Wipes is a good tip and one I will be adding to my kit. The only thing, besides camera gear, that I carry that you didn't show is a pair of gloves. I use the cheap mechanics gloves from Harbor Freight. They are handy to keep my fingers clean and protecting my hands from getting cut up. I also use them sometimes to handle salamanders. I'm not sure if the gloves are any better for the salamanders than my bare hands, but I like to think they are.

Good topic as the arctic chill hits most of the country. Looks like you're covered with the choices for your backpack. It depends on where I'm herping and how long I'll be out in an area. Here in AZ, we carry needlenose pliers to pull out the inevitable jumping chollas that appear out of nowhere. Must have if you're herping here. Rain gear to cover the packs and us during the monsoon. Easy to get caught in a nasty downpour.

@@smetlogik just looked up the jumping chollas. That looks painful!

Hey Tony❤. Not lame at all! I was thrilled to see this since I'm finally making my move to Lancaster County, PA in April and hope to get into more herping adventures. (And definitely hoping to hook up with you at some point.) ❤ The lint roller has always been one of those important tools I use whenever out hiking. No matter how light-colored my pants are, those darn ticks seem to hide. As a girl, I always have a pack of something similar to Dude Wipes for obvious reasons. The one thing I always have with me is my bug jacket with hood. It's one of those netted jackets that allows air to flow through but keeps most of the biting insects from feasting on me. I have a separate netted hood, too, that I use if I have long sleeves on. Thanks so much for doing this video.

Thanks, Cindy! Sad to see you leave Delmarva, but Lancaster is only about an hour from me! We will definitely get out this season!

@@TFerrazzo72 Sounds great. It's only about 2.5 hours to get to my current area, so I'll definitely be coming back for visits during prime seasons. But I'm so excited to explore all the new-to-me habitats in PA and MD.

@Wondering_About_Nature link up with Adrian Bara-Popa on Facebook. He's in Reading, and is always out herping.

The lint roller - GENIUS! I probably won’t need it so much in Central or West Texas, but it could be really handy down along the coast in wetlands. Also MIGHT work for “klingons” or beggar’s lice if you have fine-woven fabric pants that they can’t hook into. We lose a lot of socks to those little buggers. I’m going to look up the Dude wipes, too - no shortage of Nerodia here! As @tkreitler said, we also carry several pairs of gloves. And trash bags for soiled/wet socks and gloves, as well as trash. (There will also be geocaching-related stuff, as most hikes are double-duty.)
