Sit in the room with your boy for an hour or two everyday for a month as you do your spot cleaning/food and water changes, do not put a hiding spot in his cage he’ll never become acclimated to you if he has a place to hide from you and can lead to adult aggression because he’ll never get over his fear of you entirely, but in a months time he should feel comfortable around you but may not want you to handle him which is fine he’ll eventually come running up to you as you as you spot clean/food and water changes and then you’ll be able to work on manual removing him from his enclosure

If you could reply that would be really helpful man I have no one else to go to. I haven’t had my iguana a week yet and I don’t think he’s eating. When I try to hold him to feed him he kinda “passes out” and goes limp. Eyes closed and all. But when I put him back in his enclosure he slowly wakes up and goes back to basking. Any help would be helpful thanks!

With mine we had to place several foods around a plate to find out what she liked. It did help us to know. They close their eyes sometimes like that to feel safe because they’re stressed, kinda like I hope you go away lol. But right where her tail connects it’s one good place to tell if she is healthy. You don’t wanna see any bone there. If worse comes to worse and you have to because you don’t have a choice then you can syringe feed her. I have a video of that as well

So an update he still hasn’t ate so I had to force feed him and open his mouth and I managed to get him to swallow 2 small pieces of straws berry. He wasn’t wanting to swallow it tho. He has a lot of spit/small bubbles coming out his mouth also. He was liking it like he wanted some but just didn’t eat it. Idk if need to worry about the bubbly mouth of it that’s normal.

From what I understand I think they’re all the same. I’ve only had the green iguana however. But the blue is beautiful.

Hey, nice 2 meet u here. iguana iguana is a folivora, regardless of the color (even tho the albino). And the best feed for them is the leaves which are a DARK Green color (70%). The DARK green Color Leaves are rich of the Nutrition (Calcium & mineral). For the leaves which are a Bright green color, that is Rich of a Fiber and Water contents (not that good 4 an iguana-iguana) 70% Dark leaves green 20% mix : Red Color of FRUIT (avoid an acid) 10% mix ( blossom, flowers, etc)

I have to admit that my baby rhino is the worst eater ever! When I got him he had pin and round worms. After vetting him he did start to eat better for a minute but he's so stubborn! And I do rotate zucchini and squash! I know I feed a great diet but all he wants is fruit!!

They can eat calcium powder but without vitamin d3 in it. I’ve made that mistake with my first iguana and ended up getting clumps in his stomach from it. With my 3 year old iguana I have never given any calcium powder and she is thriving due to her light and proper diet, which is collards kale and mustard greens and will add others just as variety but the greens I listed especially collards are a staple. @lunytunez3634

Yes for the most part. Fruits are a treat every once in awhile and sometimes we try new things to see if she will eat them. She’s very picky and took a while to figure out what she will eat once we got her settled.

Yea this is why be carful of these foods. I would suggest placing things around a plate and seeing what they will eat. Green leaf, spring mix, zucchini, squash, sweet pot, Brussels, and so on. Eventually they will. Syringe feeding would be a last resort. Let me know how it goes
