Republic of Moldova is simply the eastern half of Romania's Moldova region (which is much larger), invaded by USSR in 1940, thus drawing Romania in WW2 on the Axis side. But the official language in Republic of Moldova is still Romanian! 82% of its population is Romanian and speaks Romanian as it's mother tongue. They study "ROMANIAN language and literature" and "History of ROMANIANS" as compulsory subjects in Moldovan schools. In fact, Principality of Moldova became in 1859 a founding member of Romania when it decided to unify with Wallachia, under a MOLDOVAN prince! About 50% of the population of Republic of Moldova have applied for and received Romanian citizenship, arguing that their forefathers have lost it unjustly during Soviet occupation. Not only does Republic of Moldova and Romania have the same flag, but they had the same anthem as well until 1994! So Republic of Moldova is for Romania what East Germany was for West Germany...

Russian forces temporarily occupied the Georgian cities of Zugdidi, Senaki, Poti and Gori, holding on to these areas beyond the ceasefire. Do Moldovans think Russia invaded them in 1992? In my opinion Transnistria was a model for hybrid warfare akin to Georgia and Ossetia and Abkhazia and Ukraine and Luhansk and Donetsk. Do people in the street see it that way or no? Also has the failure of Transnistria to build a better life than the rest of Moldova convinced locals that maybe the whole “Russian Peace/ World” thing is a bunch of BS?

The majority of the population know that the „Russian Peace” thing is just disgusting propaganda. But there are still quite a lot of people here who mindlessly „want” to change the current government with a pro-russian one, but they are just protesting for that because they are being paid by pro-russian organizations. There are even people in Transnistria who are against the war, because they know Russia doesn't really care about them and the situation in Ukraine is very bad for them at the moment.Thank you for your comment! Russia didnt exsis in 1991 when transnistria declared independence.. Infact when the ussr broke up and the russian constitutional crisis developed and there was shooting in moscow some transnistrian fighters went to help the communists and were deported after. The transnistrian independence predates moldova leaving the ussr and was caused by terrorist attacks on ukrainian and russian ethnic groups by members of nationalist romanian backed agents.. There was no widespread conflict between slavic and moldovan people in the republic but an artificial conflict that pro romanian agents started and that pro "transnistrian" fighters won.. Later russia showed up and slowly put moldova over a barrel by suppoeting transnistria. Ther east bank of the river was always russian.. Prior to the turkish wars it wasnt inhabited and refugees and russian and ukrainians settled there.. Moldova has no right to it. But yes itsa silly situation and as there is no hate between sthe ethnic groups rejoining moldova would be logical. The issue is romania who has no rightful or historical claim on moldova.. Noldova has been its own nation in history.. Romanian illegally occupied others land, hungarians, bulgarians ect and makes such bombastic claims. The nonmoldoval people in moldova who have always been there do not wish to be persecuted by a moldova occupied by romania.. That is the issue. But a moldova with transnistria as part of it would be a more economucally healthy moldova. And russiansin moldova are fine. The attacks oin the late 80s and early 90s were organised by a small group of moldovan police and criminals work for romanian intellegence.. Such thinking has vanished

@@manchagojohnsonmanchago6367 I respectfully disagree. Having family deported, killed in pogroms, and lost private property from the transitions between Empire, USSR, and Federation it seems Russia wants to retain privileges, and benefits of the USSR (say with certain international agreements) while writing off responsibilities to the fact that “we didn’t exist yet” Im almost certain the KGB was involved in this. As mentioned more in terms of hybrid warfare. People like Girkin got their start there by his own admission. Calling them “volunteers” or a “civil war” or “help” are standard practice. Now that doesn’t mean there was no presence from Romania for instance but it’s not like the one means the other isn’t involved. Neither does it mean there weren’t some ideologically independent people or groups involved but as I find these are generally turned into pawns fairly quickly and if they don’t know their place in the pecking order eliminated.

Indeed, Nazis will be punished by God sooner or later. One of the young people interviewed here even mentioned some sort of hatred that develops between Russians and Romanians, when they don't speak Romanian, or something like that. In my opinion, this hatred comes from him himself, not from others, since he's the one talking about it. He should self-examine why he feels this way and do something about it. I'm Russian, have talked to plenty of Romanians, plenty of Moldovans. My dad grew up in Moldova. Never any hatred on my part, regardless of whether these people knew my own native language or not.

Well, it is understandable that the rich ran away from Ukraine, they can afford living abroad and they don't want to stay in a warzone. The title is not accurate. Video deals with *Republic* of Moldova. This is official name of the state, as declared in the Independence Declaration and in the Constitution. "Moldova" without "Republic of" is the eastern part of Romania (is the former principality of Moldova which united with Wallachia to form Romania), the place were most Moldovans live. Republic of Moldova is just a part of former Moldova twice occupied by Russians. Last occupation occurred in 1940 precisely because Romania suddenly had no more allies (it happened one week after France fell under Hitler). NATO is currently the most powerful security guarantee.
