Yum 😋 I am from Detroit, Michigan area too where we have a deep appreciation and love for Polish food...we have a city within the city of Detroit called Hamtramck where Polish immigrants settled and re-established their cultural heritage building beautiful churches and homes, restaurants and community events like a yearly strawberry festival complete with strawberry pierogi ! Pope John Paul even visited in September 1987...Love your channel !

Ha, my dad was a asparagus maniac. My father’s parents came from Poland to America and had 8 sons. We ate duck 🦆 soup with the blood in it. We ate pigs feet jello. I could go on and on. I love watching this channel it makes me smile and remember all the good times cooking Polish food with my parents, though my mother was half Hungarian, half Polish. My dad loved cream of ..asparagus soup which he taught me how to make. This is a great channel

Patricia, it's funny you should mention pig's feet. My father's parents were from Poland. Most of the people who lived in the area where I grew up had some Polish ancestry and Polish food was a large part of daily life back there. I grew up eating kielbasa, pierogies and pigs in the blanket (or golabki). My father used to go to this bar where there was a large jar of pig's knuckles on the bar. My father ate them all the time.

This video was making my mouth water too! A few years ago, I had my first taste of Zurek in Warsaw. I was hooked. The first bite you're not sure of what to think of it...then you realize that there's this little party going on with your taste buds....and by the end, you need to lick the bowl. Now I need to learn how to make it.

I am Polish by birth and since he likes to try new things, here are a few things that he may want to try that appeal to my & my family's Polish palette: - (from New Orleans) shrimp sauted in a lot of butter (touch of oil so it doesn't burn), white wine, lots of fresh ground pepper (then covered in very low heat to absorb) served with either a baguette for dipping in the sauce with a side dish of fresh salad or on home-made noodles (Anna's are wonderful) or Basmati rice. These shrimp can also be baked in layers of butter/white wine/pepper -- shrimp - b/w/p - shrimp etc for 4-5 rows, covered in a Dutch oven for about an hour. It's important that the butter and shrimp combine flavors. (from Montreal because I have a garden full of asparagus and 2 big pear trees) For asparagus, it is delicious sauted in butter/touch of oil with cashew nuts. Ripe pear slices are wonderful sauted in butter/touch of oil, pepper corns and walnuts. Wish I could visit his restaurant.. he is inspired!

I am German and I LOVE Polish food!!! But I ve noticed that there are some few poles that seem to be quite hostile towards Germansy However I ve never been to Poland but only have met Poles in England and Germany. Do you guys maybe have an idea whether in general Germans still have a „bad“ reputation in Poland?
@markhurning8051

I would say in my opinion only, that most Poles don’t have any opinion of Germans, but only opinions of individuals. There of course are those who can’t move past the events of WW2, but I don’t think most Poles hold any bad feelings towards modern Germany.

Try Germanys role in 2 world wars last century and the fact that Germans are quite arrogant, cold and have a fixation about wanting to conquer the world and you may get an idea why this is the case.

@@markhurning8051 Thank you very much for your answer; to be honest I am quite shocked about what others have posted now about this topic but I m glad that you and probably most Poles still judge people as individuals;) I understand that many Germans behave arrogant when in other countries indeed, but it is really not a nice feeling almost being thrown out of a supermarket only because you are German even if you are nice and polite 😅
@mirka
@mirka 2 жыл бұрын
@@danielmeyer8517 "almost being thrown out of a supermarket" ? :-0 oh my, must be especially bad luck. I think times of general hatred toward Germans are over. Next generation of Poles are quite open ppl, of course you can always have bad luck of meeting the wrong people, but it's also true for Poles visiting Germany, when interacting with older Germans. I'm living in California for 30 yrs now, from across the globe I can see Poles and Germans have a lot in common. Much more than some ethnic groups living in US.
@danielmeyer8517
@danielmeyer8517 2 жыл бұрын
@@mirka I totally agree with all that you said! And unfortunately it is true that there are also many Germans who kind of think of Poles of being criminals in many cases etc. But lets hope that these prejudgements end with our young generattions. I also think we have much more in common than what distinguishes us. But yeah I didnt exaggerate, I was in the supermarket, the owner (he slready was slightly older) asked me where I am from and when answering Germany, he looked at me in such a despising way that I installed knew he wanted me to leave his shop instantly.
