Poland is a tourist paradise. They have everything a tourist could expect. Different kind of mountains, beautiful seashore, lakes, hundreds of castles, old cities and charming towns. The difference between Poland and those touristy countries like Greece, Spain or Portugal is that tourist business in Poland don't depend on the foreign tourists. It is centered on a Polish tourist. And Polish love to go around their country.

My Polish is improving! I instantly understood "urząd wojewódzki" and felt the dread! My last karta pobytu (temporary) took 2.5 years for a decision. Wrocław's urząd wojewódzki looks intimidating -- constructed during WWII when Wrocław was Breslau, Germany, Hitler's "final fortress." The imposing concrete structure, devoid of ornamentation unless you count the eight massive columns at the entrance, evokes adjectives, such as Stalinesque. I agree with Mark (in another video I just watched) that the most difficult aspect about living in Poland is the ridiculously hard-to-learn language. If I could become fluent in the language, then all the other pieces would fall into place -- the gobsmacking bureaucracy and the social etiquette and norms. I still can't tell, for instance, when a Pole is scolding me cos my dog isn't on a leash or complimenting me because she doesn't need one (which I carry in full view, _ready_ to use it). The last time it happened, I said like an Italian, "Nie ma problemu!" The little old lady looked shocked, grabbed her dog's leash closer to her chest, and walked off quickly -- and I don't know if it's cos I corrected her about our dogs' mutual disinterest in each other or cos she thought I was crazy to respond to her pleasantry with such a non sequitur. Zawsze spróbuję. :-) Podobają mi się wszystkie wasze videos!

Some observation and ... the advice ;) In Poland the cultural, unwritten code is to take hat off while eating at a table. It applies to men. Women as usual are allowed to do as they wish ... because others approaches are mostly futile ;)
@PolishYourKitchen
@PolishYourKitchen 3 жыл бұрын
Every culture has its own rules and everyone has the right to observe their own rules, in my opinion. Hat worn at a table is not hurting anyone. :)
@MichaelT_123
@MichaelT_123 3 жыл бұрын
@@PolishYourKitchen Everyone's rules ... can be unpredictable and even extreme. Look ... Chicago, Philadelphia, ... Also, the term 'rules' has plural not singular connotations. It is not 'individual thing'. Regarding the hat, it is the minor issue, nobody will make too much fuss in Poland, at worst the reaction could result in a strange look. In other places the response can be not so polite.
