Hi Brody and Brandy. I enjoyed the video and I loved how she talked about different aspects of the quilt. Especially about the binding. I didn't know that a too loose binding could wear out faster. Great information!

@@QuilteronFire YES! I live on the most southern tip of the largest island in the world. We live 60 Deg N. Which is a little below the Arctic Circle. My "Heart Light" works North of the Arctic Circle. He gets to see so many interesting things whenhe's at sea.

@@QuilteronFire Put it on your bucket list. I met four quilters this past summer from off cruise ships. It was so cool because three of them brought me a pound of reeses peanut butter cups! LOL We were slammed this summer with so many cruise ships. I'm a tour guide. I do City tours, the tannery and I'm learning how to sell iceberg safari's. :) It's been an interesting summer. :) :) Looking forward to getting to know you too. ;) :)

She didn't mention anything about the backing on the quilt, so it's good to know they are only concerned with the front.

Hi Karin, I will often take a quick look at the back while judging, especially if I see tension issues on the front. But with only a few minutes per quilt there is not always time. AND, I bet your quilt backs are better than you think!

Thank you for responding. I always worry about puckers on the back because I can't see what's going on on the back while quilting the front. Sometimes I get puckers and sometimes I don't. @@QuilteronFire

I am surprised that Brody did not or wasn’t aware of comments regarding the binding. That’s all I ever hear are people saying “are you going to hand bind or are you going to machine sew the binding”. “ you shouldn’t do that you should always hand sew the binding “ well I’m not going to do that and I don’t know if this binding on this quilt was hand sewn or machine they didn’t talk about that

Hand sewn and machine sewn bindings can both be very well done! I do both kinds myself.

A judging hat is very easy to take on and off. I’d never judge a quilt unless the quilter asked me to or it was in a judged show.
