Seventh-Day Adventism is a fascinating expression of Christianity to me, and I learned a lot about their theology and history (and had fun doing so) by sitting and talking with Justin, Greg, and Dan.
GREAT video from my friend Justin's channel "I'm Listening": • Atheist attacks Christ...
A bunch of you support this channel at patreon.com/tmbh which is generous and helpful and awesome. If you feel like getting on board with that you can, but more than patreon support, I'm just thankful you're here.

Great discussion Matt! Thank you for your positive and open minded approach. As an SDA, I could relate to the perspectives shared by your guests. Even though we hold many interesting and unique understandings that we believe are clear in scripture, still, a daily relationship with Jesus is the most important. Our church is blessed to have so many programs, educational institutions and vibrant medical outlets that engage and nurture our members. Also great broadcasts with so many mission minded speakers like on Hope Sabbath School, Amazing Facts and PMC Church. I have several family members that had serious health conditions and were each able to receive great lifestyle improvements thanks to New Start, at Weimar California. If you ever do a follow up program you might be interested to know some of our end time views on the rapture, mark of the beast and America’s involvement in last day events. These are timely messages for us SDA. One final thought on the servant of the Lord, Mrs. Ellen. Reading the popular book Desire of Ages provides a quasi “Max Lucado “approach to the life of Jesus. You instantly realize that she was a avid bible student and had a tremendous love for Jesus. The prose is so moving and in-depth. She was prolific and wrote on a plethora of subjects all to nurture the Christian. We are often times misunderstood and sadly misrepresented at times. Your interview will help dispel the myths about the SDA. Thank you!

Matt Bryant - The problem is that when being interviewed knowing they are going to be viewed by masses of people, everyone is on their best behavior and not everything they say is the full honest truth on what their group believes. It becomes a very different story once someone joins that church. Little by little, more is revealed, expected and taught. And then, the person has either stopped thinking for themselves and has begun to follow the cult religiously, or they find themselves having deep conflicts with what the Bible says and what they are expected to believe. This is a dangerous time since many can easily fall off the cliff and lose their faith not just in that cult, but in God Himself. This doesn't just apply to the SDA. It's the same with Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, and other cults. Carefully selected speakers from the cream of the crop will spew forth their deceitful words which are capable of selling eskimos ice cubes! Matt 24:11- "Many false prophets will arise and deceive many". Tread through their words CAUTIOUSLY!

Matt, wow, I’m really impressed with your non judgmental, open minded, empathetic attitude, thank you. As an Adventist I wanted to reinforce and highlight some things that were said about your question on the investigative judgement. Your point I think was not questioning whether God makes judgements on people’s eternal destiny but why would He need a long drawn out formal process to do this. He is God, He knows all things and could do this in an instant. Adventist’s understand that there are really two things going on here. One is that humans are being judged based on their confession of sin and acceptance of Jesus as their sacrifice for their sins and secondly the Judge is being exceptionally transparent on how He is making His judgements because He Himself is on trial. Satan has made accusations that God is unfair so God is keeping careful record of everything in books. Not for Himself but for us and the angels and the universe to see and follow and review His work to answer satan’s accusation that God can’t be trusted. If God made instantaneous judgements that we couldn’t see He would have instantly killed Lucifer the moment he rebelled in Heaven. Why didn’t He do that and save all this misery and heartache? God knew that that action would have been right and just but the angels wouldn’t have known that. It wouldn’t have settled the matter. The angels would still have questions and might also believe God was unfair in His treatment of Satan but they would not say anything but would serve God out of fear rather than love. God is patiently allowing everyone to see and review His judgements that we may know He is love, He is fair and just. Thanks again.

As a former Adventist is pains my heart to hear a statement like "God is on trial". This type of thinking is found no where in the bible. God is the holy sovereign creator who sits in the heavens and does all that He pleases. None can stay His hand or say to Him "what have you done?". Not only that but the investigative judgement cannot be backed by scripture and I am willing to do a online video call to discuss this doctrine for anyone interested. My goal is not to hurt anyone or argue for the sake of arguing, but rather to speak the truth in love and glorify my Lord Jesus Christ in proclaiming and defending the pure biblical gospel of salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. The investigative judgement unfortunately distorts that beautiful message.

@@KLuis-rq6hf he may have meant that, either way its unbiblical. The God we read about in the bible is the creator and sovereign ruler of the universe. None can thwart His purposes, and He works all things after the counsel of His will. @ByGraceThroughFaith_
@ByGraceThroughFaith_ 4 жыл бұрын
@@shadouge1118 my take on that is the same as my take on why God created to begin with, His own self glorification. Romans 9 comes to mind when talking about Gods reasons for allowing evil to happen and continue, "What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory- Romans 9:22‭-‬23 ESV. The great controversy is not a biblical concept and would not have been adopted if it wasn't for the teachings of E.G. White. However, as much as I cringe from hearing someone say God is being judged, I am MUCH more concerned with the investigative judgement doctrine.

Matt, I LOVED that you asked deeper questions! I know it's a year later but here's my view: I grew up SDA, with a minister for a father & I only heard about the investigative judgement when I was in a missionary group in my year after high school. Let that sink in for a minute. I think that so many SDA's have an incomplete perception - and leave - because they simply just don't know what and why we believe what we do & thus it becomes a thing to do to be 'good' rather than knowing the reason behind it. That is a blight on our recent history - I cannot be the only one. I always thought that the biggest difference was Saturday and not eating bacon haha. I can tell you this though: I was pretty agnostic about my faith until I had the investigative judgement & the millennium explained to me. I felt this strange warmth in my chest that I had never, ever felt before -- & I never knew that it was a doctrine unique to adventism. My heart and head just went, "yes, this makes sense. It's symmetry and beauty and this is the God I'd like to know". I now understand that it was the Holy Spirit drawing me in, and I'm so grateful. Thank you for asking the good questions, for digging further. I appreciate your probing, genuinely sincere questions. We can all learn a lot from your treatment of fellow believers. Subscribed :)

There is a movie called " Tell it to the world" it is really well done and I encourage anyone to watch it to see the Adventist beginnings. I became an Adventist 3 years ago from reading the Bible alone and asking God to guide me to Truth. I had never read the Bible before and finished it is a month and 1/2. I Was a Sunday keeping protestant before I started but never studied on my own. He opened my eyes to many things including the Sabbath and other doctrines that I had never heard. I started to listen to many pastors and denominations, waiting to hear what God had shown me through His Word. Finally I heard a pastor speaking what God had taught me and it was a seventh day adventist. I didn't even know seventh day adventist existed. I heard not one word from Ellen G white before coming to their church and was very stand off about it. Then I decided to read one of her books. DESIRE OF AGES. If you read her writing you will know they point straight to the bible and are inspired. Love you all and can't wait to see you in Heaven!

Fundamental belief#18 states that she has PROPHETIC AUTHORITY.. the SDA church holds to the fact that the spirit of prophecy is the IDENTIFYING MARK of the REMNANT CHURCH, and that it was "MANIFESTED" through her writings... THEREFORE.....In simple terms, she's held EQUAL to scripture.

You aren’t a Christian. You watched a demonic cult propaganda film. You are a naive simpleton captured by a heretical demonic cult. The real history of the Adventist demonic cult is disgusting. James and Ellen White were impoverished young people who became wealthy selling books and charts and even dress patterns for what Ellen called the “ Reformed Dress.” A king dress worn over pants. Ellen lied and pontificated God had shown her the dress in vision and it was essential for physical and spiritual health. She actually stole the idea from a local doctor who forced his daughter to wear the costume. Women hated the uncomfortable outfit but the prophet had spoken so they were obligated to wear it. Ellen stopped wearing her own costume and never ever explained why even though she promised an answer. This is just one example of many weird and freakish commands Ellen gave to Adventist demonic cult captives. You are a biblical fool and Bible illiterate. Tads not a Christian.

Here’s a challenge for you Adventist demonic cult member. It’s not a trick. Present a passage of scripture in a real Bible ( not the rag that Jack Blanco wrote entitled the Clear Word Bible. That’s your cult Bible), in which the risen Lord instructs anyone to keep a weekly day set apart. Easy challenge. If sabbath keeping ( you have never kept sabbaton) is a salvational issue then you can quickly and easily present a passage of scripture in which Jesus taught his disciples to honor sabbaton.

Therefore, the Lord your God commanded you to keep the sabbath day.” - Moses. Deuteronomy 5:15. Where in holy writ is any gentile ever commanded to keep a Hebrew ritual law? Hi Matt, you were right on the money when you said you have the impression there are two types of adventists out there. It is absolutely true! I grew up in one of the very "conservative" - (yes that is the right term by the way, and one they wear as a badge of honor, as in non-conservatives are lesser adventists, and even lesser Christians in some groups) - branches of the church, who wielded Ellen White as the way to Heaven, at the very least on parr with if not completely above the Bible. (Sadly there are still many groups out there like this). Years later, after moving away from that community and finding the picture of God that group taught me completely shattered by the real world and the real Word of God, I am in the processes of trying to sort through my faith, figuring out how much of what I was taught to believe is actually in the Bible and how much is not. Side-note about the investigative judgement - The Pastor didn't really clarify that the idea of the investigative judgement has to be filtered through the mindset of two of the other fundamental beliefs in order to make cohesive sense: The Great Controversy, and The Sanctuary. If you start with the Great Controversy - the big picture of the origins of evil, the war in Heaven he referenced, how the war between good and evil continues on earth today, etc - you have this big mind set of everything in earth's history following a specific timeline of events leading to its ultimate conclusion. Then you zone in on the Sanctuary, and it outlines what those events are, and gives the order and timeline of when - and WHY - they're going to happen. The investigative Judgement is then one of those events in that timeline - one of the last pieces of the puzzle leading up to the completion of earth's History. The pastor touched on these things, but kind of bounced back and fourth around them, rather than starting from the Big Picture > Timeline > Single Event. (Not advocating it being right or being wrong, just clarifying what the pastor was attempting to explain.)

Rachelle Anonymous As an x-Seventh day Adventist myself I attest you are completely correct in your comments (above noted). I was a 2nd Generation SDA who, in 1984, read a wonderful book 📖 titled, “Christian Be Free” by Samuel Pestes . That book 📖 caused me to have many questions in my mind particularly about Seventh day Sabbath-keeping. I began an intensive, 1-year-long, study of the Holy Scriptures compared to E.G. White’s writings, the SDA doctrines, wherein I clearly noted the error in the SDA doctrines/teachings/beliefs. And, although it was a difficult decision to leave my friends and the denomination I had belonged to for 38 years......I gladly did so for the sake of the Truth & Gospel of Jesus Christ. I’m 72 now, and was baptized last Sunday, at the Baptist church I now attend. What a joy it was/is to make that public demonstration of being buried with Jesus in a watery grave and come up from the water, a new creature, to walk in newness of life. I read your post with great 👍 interest and respect. May The Holy Spirit descend upon you greatly as you search for the truest truth as found only in the Holy Bible. The Scripture, “You will look for me and find me when you have searched for me with all your heart” comes to mind. May you hide this in your heart as you find your way out of confusion and into the marvelous light and truth of our Sovereign God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.....is my steadfast hope for you, Rachelle ♥️

Yes! It has often been mischaracterized as God scrutinizing our every move so he can find an excuse not to save us, but in reality it’s about seeing who has actually accepted Christ. If you’ve accepted Christ and are growing in Him there are no negative affects. The negative is for those who say they are Christians but act otherwise, hypocrites or essentially what all the sayings and parables of Christ warn against.

Jonas Aras I liked this reply. As an SDA, I agree. There is no condemnation. I see the IJ not as something that examines whether the blood of Christ can save, that is a done deal, but the IJs purpose is to see who’s claim to being “in Christ” is genuine. Personal sins have already been dealt with. The IJs purpose is to see who is under the banner of Christ. God does this so that at a later time He can show us all how he examined every life and can answer accurately why someone didn’t make it to heaven even though they claimed to be a Christian. Anyone who gains eternal life will do so because of Christ’s sacrifice. Only those who’s lives are examined and shown to display the fruits of the Spirit through the power of Christ will escape judgement.

One interesting note is that "Adventist culture" is quite strong and pervasive and encompasses many things not included in official church statements. I think this explains some of the apprehension and vagueness in how the questions were answered: do I answer from an official standpoint or a practical one? Overall they spoke on official church stances and left out the practice. It's something I myself have faced and witnessed others struggle with as well. One area that I think should be clarified is that Adventists, to my knowledge, have never considered William Miller to be a prophet. When the Millerites taught that Jesus would return on October 22, 1844, they weren't claiming a new revelation from God. Instead, they were teaching what they believed to be the correct interpretation of certain passages in the Bible. Thus, it isn't accurate to describe the Great Disappointment as a failed prophecy. A failed prediction, yes, but there's a big difference between saying that you believe the Bible teaches thus-and-such and saying that God told you thus-and-such.

100% correct , and Tim Lehay is certainly making an "interpretive mistake" with an entire book series , so I don't think anyone should be bashing William Miller ... At least Miller studied more and found out he was wrong about the EVENT by sincere continued study .... MANY preachers have SINCERELY taught erroneous things in all of history , "sincere errors they thought was truth" , and if they received more light , they corrected the mistake .... There's a guy who said he "went to Heaven for 90 minutes" (Don Piper , I think) .... He said "Heaven has 12 gates like it says in Revelation" ...... Revelation says "THE NEW JERUSALEM has 12 gates" , NOT "Heaven" .... Heaven doesn't have gates because it doesn't have walls !!!!! He's not only wrong , but he is wrong while claiming to be an eye-witness .... Yet he is on Christian TV all the time blathering this unbiblical nonsense unchallenged

I was at an Adventist school (I went to one, and then a group of us gathered together to make music and learn for a weekend) that had a guest speaker in. He explained the judgement concept really well. The talk is called The Loveseat of Heaven by Cliff Gleason and it's available on KZbin. I've also met Dan in person, and he's so good to talk to! I peronally question some of the details of the beliefs, but I like my small country SDA church family, and we hold meetings at a church level to make sure that things are going okay, and propose changes. Of course I have been to some churches, and seen people within the SDA faith that have some really weird ideas (like a few flat-earthers I met...) but the focus on comparing things against the Bible to see if they're right is something that I believe is important.

Now that I've watched more, yes, there are different groups. I worked at an Adventist camp, and some (usually older) people would insist that skirts must be a certain length, food had to be prepared a certain way, you couldn't go in the ocean on Sabbath... And all kinds of weird things. Honestly, it depends on the area you are in, and the cultural background of the members. It's a really odd position, but we were told to "not be stumbling blocks" to the conservative ones and try and be more in the middle in terms of behaviour and appearance. It's important to mention that yes, there is a lot of variation, and outside the 28 beliefs, there are a ton of other beliefs that individuals may have. It's hard to generalize things, and I like how this tackled that.

I have never been SDA, but my parents actually met at a SDA church but left when I was a baby. And I have very close family members who were deeply hurt by this church and soured them against Christianity in general because of the legalism and the spirit it was presented in. I remember my grandma hiding coffee because a church member was coming over, and she didn't want her telling the pastor and getting her in trouble, but when she moved to another city, the congregation there was much more open and loving and not nearly as legalistic. Your take I think helped me a lot to parse out the doctrine from practice and the different strands, if you will, of a group that most Christians don't engage with because I think they are not exactly sure where to put them. I appreciate your honesty and excellent questions that are probing but never hostile. It helps all of us to understand a lot better.

True, at times many SDAs have missed the whole point of who Jesus is and how we can receive salvation (and got judgmental about trivia such as coffee drinking), but God didn't abandon us to such lostness. He has graciously prevailed to bring us the light of the Gospel. However, you can also find such unChristlike attitudes in many other denominations. The SDA doctrines and interpretations of prophecy are definitely worth researching. An SDA Bible teacher will encourage you to also study with Bible teachers of other denominations and make comparisons, going between teachers with questions and seeking explanations. But it's important that we really want to know Bible truths, as well as the TRUTH (Jesus Himself).

Great conversation, as always! I love these videos. I've been trying to take the idea of Sabbath more seriously in my own life, because I do think it's a commandment of God for a reason, and one that Jesus taught and respected (although he was clearly against a legalistic interpretation of Sabbath). A day of rest is essential. My Sabbath basically looks like this: church in the morning, restful time with family for the rest of the day. A few things need to be done (making meals, but they're almost always simpler than other meals; doing dishes, but we mostly use paper plates and bowls to cut down) but what can be done ahead of time or can wait until the next day isn't done that day. Pretty simple. Sometimes things come up, and sometimes I say no to things because I think it would interfere with Sabbath. But it's always about freedom to rest, rather than slavery to a law.

Further, since Constantine, and the Catholic church, changed the worship day to Sunday, which is called the "Lord's Day" makes it even more confusing. While I don't agree with some things the SDA believe, I do, however, believe they got it right with restoring the Sabbath Saturday, the original day of rest.

Hi Matt: Jesus' position @the right hand of the Father can be both literal and figurative. However, I believe more figurative. It is a position of authority, much like a "right hand man". Also, the throne moves. You will see in Ezekiel that God's throne has wheels. Lastly, everything in the earthly sanctuary was a type. Just as the killing of the animal and sprinkling of the blood was only the beginning of the process of the reconciliation for our sin, similarly Jesus's death is just the beginning of the process. The priests, after the slaughter of the animal still had to go through the process, ministering in the holy place, and finally the most holy place on the day of atonement. So Jesus did not complete the antitypical sanctuary service when He died, but completes His antitypical priestly ministry in the heavenly sanctuary. Read revelation, Jesus appears among the 7 candle sticks...this is the Holy place of the heavenly sanctuary...revelation has a lot of sanctuary language. Hebrews 8:5. Moses was admonished to make the tabernacle according to the pattern shows him, which was a copy of the true. Ex:25:40. The earthly sanctuary was supposed to show a type or process as to how God would do away with sin. The death of the animal was the beginning. Jesus is finishing up that process. However, we have FULL forgiveness NOW by faith, because His word is as good as DONE! Just as in the old testament, sins were forgiven even though Jesus had not yet come and died, because His promise is as good as Done. God operates in time for our benefit, even though He is outside of time. He is letting this thing play out for us who do not have His omniscience. For judgement to be fair, there must be a process. God is not a tyrant. He could have judged/ destroyed Lucifer/Satan immediately. However, for the sake of fairness and His character vindication before the universe, He lets this thing play out. Imagine God just zaps Satan dead, then all angelic beings worship God out of fear, not love. This thing has to play out so that all inteligent life, unfallen angels and humans see that "God is fair". Also, the process of judgement will be there for the redeemed to examine...the process is for us, not for God. 1 Cor. 6:2-3- judgement will be given to the saints, we will judge angels. Stephen will wonder how Paul ended up in heaven, through the judgement he will see how that happened. Those of us who who don't see a person who from all accounts should have been saved will wonder what happened, through the examination of God's judgement process will understand. The judgement is not for God, it's ultimately for us. Every knee will bow and tongue confess I am running on and on. Revelation 15:3-just and true are your ways o King of saints. Phil 2:10, 11 every knee shall bow. 1:03:50

To be very clear, SDAs do not believe that Sunday will be the mark of the beast until the events in Rev 13 take place and people are forced, under pain of death, to worship in a time, place, and manner that they know to be unscriptural. Ancient Babylon threatened God's people with death if they did not worship contrary to God's revealed will (e.g., bowing to Nebuchadnezzar's golden image, later praying to anyone other than Babylonia king and gods, etc). In the Babylon of Revelation and the Mark of the Beast in Rev 13 it once again will involve false worship contrary to the first four commandments, under pain of death. As of today, SDAs make it clear nobody has the Mark of the Beast described in Rev 13 until the events in Rev 13 take place (e.g., the death decree therein).

And whoever follows these instructions, which will be all Christians except Adventists, will thereby accept the mark of the beast and be damned. So there will come a time when Sunday worshipers will be damned according to SDA eschatology, no? I cannot accept that, that is pure heresy imo

“Does the Law allow a person to heal on the Sabbath?” 11 Jesus replied, “Who among you has a sheep that falls into a pit on the Sabbath and will not take hold of it and pull it out? 12 How much more valuable is a person than a sheep! So the Law allows a person to do what is good on the Sabbath.” Matthew 12, Common English Bible. @@mynameismanic Jesus is God. His death and resurrection brought a new beginning. We no longer are subjected to "the Law". As I quoted: Colossians 2:13-17 13 And when you were dead in trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive together with him, when he forgave us all our trespasses, 14 erasing the record that stood against us with its legal demands. He set this aside, nailing it to the cross. 15 He disarmed the rulers and authorities and made a public example of them, triumphing over them in it. 16 Therefore do not let anyone condemn you in matters of food and drink or of observing festivals, new moons, or SABBATHS. 17 These are only a shadow of what is to come, but the substance belongs to Christ. Rather than fulfilling the Law of Moses, Paul points us toward fulfilling the Law of Christ: “To those outside the [Mosaic] law I became as one outside the [Mosaic] law, not being without law toward God but under the law of Christ, that I might win those outside the Mosaic law” (1 Cor. 9:21). He wrote also, “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ” (Gal. 6:2). The Law of Christ, or the New Law, is the second major revelation of positive divine law. It contains the laws set forth by Christ and the apostles in the deposit of faith. Some of these are moral (prohibitions on murder, adultery, and polygamy), some ceremonial (baptism, the Eucharist, Sunday worship), and some are civil or judicial (e.g., “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities” Rom. 13:1 and the Church’s social teaching, as grounded in the deposit of faith). The New Law also provides something that the Old Law did not: the grace of the Holy Spirit, who empowers individuals to keep the New Law in a way that those under the Law of Moses were not able to keep it. This internalization of the New Law was prophesied by Jeremiah: “this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it upon their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people” (Jer. 31:33). Finally, I should mention two other manifestations of divine law-civil law (international, national, state, and local laws) and ecclesiastical law (e.g., canon law and liturgical law). As laws, they participate in the eternal law and we are bound by God’s authority to obey them. Thus immediately after telling his readers “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities,” Paul explains this by saying “For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore he who resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment” (Rom. 13:1-2). That's the advice Luther did not heed. God bless.

With that said, I would simply say to you and anyone who watched this video, which clearly were many, that as kind-hearted and well-intentioned as the people you interviewed were, please understand that one i believe was an administrator, one a pastor, and one a member. Administrators crunch numbers lol...Pastors often spend more time...well...pastoring other Adventists...so a lot of time preaching to the choir lol...and not so much evangelizing...which forces them to spend a lot of time explaining our doctrines to non-Adventists, and members often have little experience crunching numbers or teaching our doctrines to non-Adventists lol. None of these seemed comfortable really explaining well the basic ideas that drive some of our doctrines. I am a firm believer that every one of our 28 doctrines can be explained in 2 minutes or less. If you left that interview still not certain about why we believe the things we believe, please let some gifted Adventist evangelists and theologians take a shot at explaining. if you are interested in where to get better explanations of our doctrines, please reply and I will be more than happy to refer you in private to some of the most widely-respected Adventist evangelists and scholars. @mexicanatta My discoveries prove 1844 is nothing more than a great disappointment. SDA need 457 bc for the decree in Dan. 9:26 starting point for 2300 days to be in 1844. The year was 454 bc not 457 bc for supernatural reasons only YHWH could perform to the day and hour. 1. The decree was identified by the streets and walls being repaired in Dan. 9:26. SDA say it is the Ezra decree but the truth is Nehemiah recieved the decree in 454 bc Nisan 14th at the 9th hour. Neh. 2:5. 2. YHWH also caused a blood moon Tetrad to be a sign in the heavens Nisan 14th 454 bc; see NASA 5 millennium Lunar Eclipses 453 bc. 3. YHWH also had Ezek. 4:1-5 to begin it's 390 year countdown in 454 bc ending in an "iron pan" siege in 63 bc led by Pompey. Iron being symbolic for Roman the pan symbolic for Roman shields round about Jerusalem. 4. 454 bc + 69 weeks = 31 ad to Messiah cut off from the living not "baptized" as the SDA discern in error; Dan. 9:26, Isa. 53:8. 5. Ezek. 4:6,7 is from the 31 ad ✝️to the iron pan siege in 70 ad led by Titus. 6. Dan. 9:27 week is Passion week not the 70th week. In the midst of Passion week being a Wednesday\Thursday Passover Messiah was crucified causing the sacrifices to cease "IT IS FINISHED". The Thursday ✝not EGW's and the RCC good Friday ✝️allows JESUS to preach the Gospel to the fully conscious OT saints in the heart of the earth aka "Abraham's bossom" for 3 days and nights; 1st Pet. 3:18,19. JESUS didn't lie to the thief on the cross like EGW preaches because "TODAY" he was with JESUS in Abraham's paridise. Who do you believe Ellen's soul sleep or the preachings of JESUS? 7. Dan. 9:27 has the sacrifices ceased then Isa. 55:1-7 confirmed by the Resurrection aka "sure mercies of David at the end of Passion week; Isa. 55:3, Acts 13:34, Ps. 16:10. SDA teach Steven's death ended the 70th week in 34 ad for which is not biblical having not one date computation recorded in the bible nor historical proof. Grammatically the "consumation" is the 70th week first subject in Dan. 9:24. It states Jerusalem would remain trodden under Gentile ownership until the 70th week; Lk. 21:24 time of the Gentiles be fulfilled. 8. SDA change times from in Genesis evening and mornings being 24 hours by doing an antichrist change to mean a year; Dan. 7:25, 8:26. 9. The day of Atonment was on Sept. 23, 1844 not Oct. 22, 1844. In fact it is impossible for the Day of Atonment to be after Oct 14th on any given year. It is blasphemous for Ellen White to perpetuate the satanic lie that the Atonment was not made Resurrection Sunday but put off till 1844. Furthermore only an idiot or a satanic seed would believe such an antichrist lie.

One thing you can use as a reference point in future, in connection with the 7th day sabbath belief that we have is, we believe that ultimately the messages of the 3 angels in Revelation 14 vs 6 - 12 will be fulfilled and the major point of contention will be between those who keep the commandments of God and those who do not and (this might sound crazy right now) but eventually the issue of sabbath keeping, whether we should observe the sabbath on sunday or saturday will be a major one. And im saying all this now, so that if it happens whilst we're still alive, you may see why we believe that we should still observe the sabbath day on saturday.

I had earlier said there were two topics I thought weren't answered well. This is my post on the second topic. The question was: "Why a prophet?" Especially if all the doctrines can be found, and in fact, are found, in the Bible? The one answer given, was "why not"? So I am going to attempt to answer a bit more. It is a very large topic, which I can't begin to cover here, but for what it's worth...: Start reading her first main book, "Patriarchs and Prophets" It covers the Biblical times from the creation (and before) till about the time of David. What she does, if covers the main stories, almost as an eye witness (through visions given her from the Lord). Not only does she describe things with more detail, she also shows the thoughts and motives of many of the people involved. She gives the story, then expands on it, giving the meaning and lessons we get from it. I guarantee, if you read her books, you will have a better understand of the Bible and what it means, and how to apply it to our own lives, then most trained theologians of today. There is also a really interesting chapter in that book dealing with the rebellion of Satan in Heaven. Very interesting reading! About what Satan was trying to do, how he did it, God's mercy and attempts to win Satan back before he finally totally rebelled and was kicked out of heaven. Really interesting! Her last book "The Great Controversy", gives church history from the destruction of Jerusalem to the very end of time, and the creation of a new heavens and new earth. The Bible is like a map that can get you from California to New York, but the Great Controversy is like the map to help you find the very house you are looking for. The Bible gives the broad picture, but if you read that book, you will understand very well what is going on in the world this very day, and see where it is all leading. I would highly recommend that particular book! And her other books "Prophets and kings", Desire of Ages (Life of Christ), and Acts of the Apostles, are like Bible commentaries, expanding on the stories, giving the meanings and implications. Wonderful books indeed! So much more I wish I could say! She was also given many visions regarding health topics. She spoke (and wrote) against tobacco while the doctors of her day were actually prescribing it for some conditions. She spoke against drinking stimulants (Coffee, most teas), and the danger of meat eating. Through her counsel, the Adventist church has the second largest education and medical work in the world, and missions in almost every country on earth, and the church has many TV stations, youtube channels, Satellite stations. Mrs. White says nothing that can't be found, or derived, from the Bible, but she greatly expands, clarifies, and confirms what is there. I would highly recommend the reading of the books I mentioned, for anybody. You will understand the Bible so much more for having done so.

@@bozenamasliczek2447 My answer above was in direct answer to one of the questions in the interview. It is too bad you don't read any of her writings. As there was a prophet before the flood (Noah), and a prophet just before the coming of Jesus to this earth (John the Baptist), so I believe there is to be (and is) a prophet to help guide us in these times just before the second coming of the Lord (Mrs. White). Her book Great Controversy was written for just the times we are living in. There was a question "what do Seventh Day Adventists believe". Don't see it here, so will go back and look. Will try to give an answer to that, though it will not be complete, I will try to give the basics. Stand by....

I see that was just the title of the video. So I won't go into any extended answer, as that question was probably answered well enough in the video. Been a bit since I've seen it now. But in general, Adventists take the Bible as written. Literal, (6 literal days of creation 24 hours each, with God resting on the 7th day, a world wide flood....) except where some parts of the Bible are clearly symbolic (much of Daniel and Revelation), parables (many of Jesus' stories), or allegories (parts of the old testament). Can go into more detail if anyone is interested, but that is enough for now.

Perhaps the thing I like most about the Seventh-Day Adventists is that they are very heavy into actually studying the Bible itself and interpreting it, especially in regards to prophecy. They are actually searching for answers in the Bible and trying to solve its mysteries. Very few denominations show the same devotion.

Great video! With regards to your last statement about two schools of Adventist thought, it only it were so simple. It's more like that one guy said about the Sabbath, there are about 1.2 million ways to keep it, you can pretty much say the same for everything else. The 28 fundamental beliefs are kinda the 28 things we all kind of agree on, and all of these different opinions are peppered throughout every congregation. I love that kind of diversity. If you want to see what that looks like, make it to that church for Sabbath School and sit in whatever class is loudest, that's generally where you will find the ultra-conservative and the wildly liberal and everyone in between discussing, so much fun if you like lively theological discussion.

Thanks a lot for this, Matt. I really appreciate your attitude and the effort that goes into these videos. I attended Adventist churches for most of my life, until about 6 months ago (now in a solid reformed and evangelical church). The straw that broke the proverbial camel’s back for me was the Adventist understanding of the Trinity, and the understanding of God’s nature more generally. While Adventists say, and usually believe, that they are Trinitarians, this often isn’t true, and many prominent pastors and evangelists in the church teach a very unorthodox version of the Trinity (without letting on that there’s any difference). Mainstream Adventism today affirms (1) the equal deity of Father, Son and Spirit, (2) the distinct personhood of Father, Son and Spirit, and (3) that there is one God. Sounds orthodox, right? The problem is that Adventism usually denies that there is one divine being or one substance of God, in which the three persons subsist (which is how Christianity understands the tri-unity of God). Instead, the three persons are understood as three seperate beings, who are said to be ‘one God’ only in that they are united in character and purpose. This is effectively polytheism! Adventists usually have a highly anthropomorphic understanding of God, including attributing to him physical bodily form, and generally deny his timelessness (he exists eternally in time). Many will even claim that the incarnate Christ could have sinned, and thus causing a break in the Trinity! I don’t want to be unkind to my Adventist friends, but this is shocking heresy, and quite frankly a different religion than Christianity. Of course, Adventism today is very diverse and there is a distinct Evangelical wing of the church that probably would endorse the orthodox understanding. I hope this is the case with the gentlemen in the video. Note also that most lay members and even pastors are simply confused about the Trinity, and can’t be condemned as conscious, knowledgeable heretics. I certainly never believed in three gods as an Adventist! So let’s engage graciously. If any Adventists are reading this, feel free to respond: how were you taught the Trinity?
@taylordubyna5386

I believe that it is proved from the bible that each member of the trinity possesses the fulness of the Godhead, or are divine. They distinctly have different functions that are read about in the bible. For example, Jesus created everything that exists, and all things exist through him. The Holy Spirit convicts us in our hearts and changes our character. And I've read about both God and Jesus performing judgement. Now about separate persons, yet one entity. Genesis 2:24 talks about how a couple leaves their parents and become one (echad) flesh. Echad is used as a numerative descriptor as well as in the sense of being united(in fact United comes from the word one, think of spanish uno). Deuteronomy 6:4 The Lord your God is one. Just as a couple are two beings yet one entity, I think of God as being three persons and yet one God.

Taylor Dubyna thanks for the reply. I think we are nearly on the same page, but I’m concerned about this concept of oneness. I think the analogy to marriage is wrong and actually highlights my point. While there is a physical union between man and wife (one flesh), you still have two human beings. The oneness is on the level of the social unit, not on the level of being. If a married couple are alone in a room, there are still two human beings in there, not one. It’s like how you can have one bunch, but 30 grapes. The oneness is on the level of the bunch, but the multiplicity is on the level of the grape. So when we ask how many gods are there, the question is about how many divine beings exist. The Bible says one God; there is only one ‘substance’ or ‘being’ or ‘entity’ in all existence that can be properly called ‘God’. This is monotheism. Father, Son and Holy Spirt are distinguished *not* on the level of being, as each fully partake of the one being (each possess the fullness of Godhead or the divine nature, as you say). They are seperate persons, while of one substance. I hope this makes sense.

@@JNArthur13 can we ever wrap our minds around the vastness of God? I doubt it, considering that His ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. So all I can do is accept, without being able to explain it, that there is indeed only one God - not three - and that this one awesome God is able to reveal Himself in as many forms as He chooses: as Jesus, as the Holy Spirit, as the angel that led the Israelites in the wilderness, as the Friend that walked with Adam and Eve in the cool of the day, as the Creator in Genesis, as one of three men who appeared to Abraham before the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, as a visiting stranger who ate with Abraham and Sarah and revealed to them that they would have a son - these last two instances verified by Abraham addressing the stranger as Lord. What an amazing monotheistic God we serve!

Than how will the world that He created be reformed back to its original state without the wicked? There are people out there that truly turn away from God to idolize themselves and would rather be fed the lies and illusions society has deemed acceptable. Why would those Christians be worried or shocked by God’s justifying, deserving wrath if they have Christ and see him as Lord? Fire cleanses, as annihilating it sounds, and leaves room for newness and purity. What God is and will always be, and intended and still wants us to be as well. To me, it seems just seeing how the present and future will go for people who don’t want to be saved but be led by Satan or willingly blind to the truth

If evil is not annihilated, then God cannot solve the problem of sin, and there is no solution to the problem of evil. Sin remains and sinners will still curse God while in torments, and God will not get anything from such sinners. Or perhaps he is more sadistic than Satan.

Even in His final act of destroying sin, God is still merciful. He created us in His image with His character imprinted on our hearts. Sin marred His character in us. It is so destructive that murder was committed as early as the 1st generation family. God didn't immediately destroy Adam and Eve when they first sinned bcuz it would have given Satan's accusation credence (Obedience is impossible, God is tyrannical). Instead, He has given us all time to see the true character of Satan and of sin and to choose whom we believe. He's even told us the final outcome and given us a guide to achieve salvation. He says by Grace through Faith. So where do works come in? Jesus says If you love me keep my commandments. In Ecclesiastes 12:13,14 Solomon also said ... Fear God and keep His commandments for this is the whole duty of man. This is the way to having Christ's image restored in us. Verse 14 says God shall bring every work into judgment... So we are saved by grace, but judged by our works. So our works are evidence of the choice we've made. God has said that sin will never rise up again after it has been destroyed and the earth made new. It is not in His character to force His way upon us. Therefore instead of taking sinners to Heaven to endure His presence and forcing them to live outside of their characters He destroys them in mercy. It will grieve Him bcuz He loves us all, but He respects our freewill whilst honoring the promise to eliminate sin.

We're human and we all have biases so we will always fail to look at things without a bias but since you let Christ work through and seek to let God give you words to speak and questions to ask it shows. For love comes to lift up and to convict.
