My inner arm and top chest tattoos probably hurt the most. I'm going to get my hands next. The thing about tattoos though, is that every part of the body has different pain levels. It also depends on if your artist has a "heavy hand". I usually don't feel much pain for at least an hour and a half. After that, it starts hurting. The worst is when it's over and they wipe off to clean the tattoo. It feels like someone wiping acid on you. It burns pretty bad. After all that though, it's a temporary pain for a piece of art that lasts a lifetime.

just did my hand. It was the worst ive ever had. Ive done an 8 hour session on my chest and I have a piece on my lower stomach/groin area . Hand easily topped both of those. only 2 hours and i was hating life. The artist was super heavy handed though too

Since i have dark skin my tattoo artist had to shade in my tattoo twice. The second time he did it he used a hot thick pin and that really hurt but it made the tattoo stand out since the colours ran so deep.

Interesting sort of pain. Stinging, burning but the odd thing about it is that the pain stops as soon as the machine stops. So for me it was short waves of pain. I was lucky I think because I never have suffered from the intense itching others do. After a couple days, it peels and I'm done. Fast healer I guess.....lol

I got my first tat on March 30, 2012. I was really nervous because I'm a frickin wuss lol. I do not take pain very well. Best way I can explain how it felt was the feeling of a needle pricking the skin really fast. I wish I could post a pic of it here. It's about 3 inches wide and almost 4 inches long on the inside of my forearm. My inspiration for the tat was my brother who passed away on March 5 the same year so it was in memory of him. I cried. I cried A LOT but I think it was just watching the tat come together and seeing it almost come to life as all the colors filled it. Cried like a baby. Maybe it just didn't hurt near as much as I thought it would. I think the thoughts of my brother and memories running thru my mind as I watched the tat come to completion kind of masked the pain of the needle. So that's my experience. I do plan on getting 2-3 more eventually. Got a feeling they're gonna hurt a lot more haha. RIP Tony, I love you so so much, always my instant sunshine. ❤️

I've never had a problem with my artist whipping my ink down, it actually felt good. After my tattoos were finished there was some soreness but once I was home, took the wrappings off and washed it there wasn't any pain. During the healing process i never experienced any burning, just itching. All in all his experience was pretty close to mine, had the same place done on my left arm/shoulder. Even had a small town artist do all of mine.

To me shading feels like mostly vibrating with a little bit of a sting. Liners are more of a scraping burning sensation. And everything around the elbow and wrist feels like a more intense sharp pain and It feels like I can feel the machine knocing against my bones.

I think pain is very relative. I'm a woman and I just got my first tattoo and it is as big (in comparison to my arm) and in the same spot as your left arm tattoo. It literally felt like a vibrator on my arm, barely felt more than pinch the entire time. To be fair, I suffer from Fibromyalgia as of last year and my daily constant pain level sits at a 4 on international pain scale and I go to the hospital at a 7. I have 4 tattoos but the one on my calf, Dear lord hurt like hell. It's Old English lettering but what it says is personal. It's 10 letters and lol, after the 1st letter I told my friend to STOP I'd just live with that one letter the rest of my life lmao. I feel that someone should mention how warm your skin is after the tattoo is done & the swelling that often occurs over areas that have been worked hard. I know that its illegall in america to get a tattoo under the age 18 but i live in europe and here you can get one with premission from ur parents at the age 14 I'm 14 and got one on My ribs 2 arrows. I'm not a pussy but it actually really did hurt😂 but its a sensetive place they said, but i thought that if i want something forever on My body then it doesn't matter if it hurts so i did it. I'm really happy with the result but you have to think for a long time. Its not nothing. But the main reason why i did the tatt on My ribs is that you have to cover ur tattoo when you go to work. Most of the people doesn't want you if you have a tattoo. And if i Don't Like it anymore when i'm older *not that that is gonna happen* its on my ribs so you don't see it that much. The tattoo shop were i went wasn't exspensive but we knew him and he is a very clean worker. But i'm not very happy with the end of the arrow its un even but i'm going back and let it make how i want it.

Cool video. I recently had an inner forearm tattoo as a memorial for my mom. It is a fairly large piece and quite detailed. It was ok at first with some burn but after 6 hours and when he was doing the last of the highlights, I was ready for him to be done. That got sore.
