Update 2: We've heard the feedback from our community and from our team internally and monetization has been turned off for this video. Update 1: It's come to my attention that in Billet Labs' Reddit post, they censored the quoted cost of their prototype water block. We were never asked to keep this information private, and given that our sources for the matter were our own correspondence with them rather than Reddit, we didn't know to include the censorship. At this point, there's probably not much point Streisand Effecting it, but I'll blur it anyway on KZbin and we'll get it blurred on Floatplane as soon as one of our editors is awake -LS

I remember hearing multiple times from Linus about a 'revelation' he had, where he asked a large company how they got the best engineers. The big company said they didn't have the best engineers, they just give their really good engineers enough time to make the best products. It seems like he has given that idea to his engineering team (3 years for a good screwdriver) but has never applied that tenet to his video teams. It's always rush to the next project or video, not to give the team the time they need to make the best videos.
@boanerges5723 Жыл бұрын
They didnt "make" that screwdriver. Williams (a company very near geographically to LMG) made the WS1 for a LOOOOONG time. It was a good screwdriver. The difference is the bits for the LTT screwdriver are shorter than the standard bits the WS1 uses and so it holds twice as many. The WS1 is a great screwdriver for $35. I have one sitting around here somewhere and Ive had it for quite a while. They may have looked around for a company to partner with but they didnt "design" that screwdriver.

Luke (and Yvonne for that matter) are genuinely good people and in my opinion, the only reason LMG is still running. I think Linus is a good person too, but, power and stress has fueled his ego to a point where if he were to control everything himself, the channel would collapse; that's probably why he knew to step down as CEO. And the reviewer says 'Well this movie is about earth. It sucks and not worth your time.' its just not true. And the only victim in the above transaction is you. The person that writes the movies. All large corporations are souless. LTT isn't really that large but its big enough that it's showing signs of the same problem. A bunch of individuals all trying to justify their jobs and look good, and all making decisions eventually contradicting eachother because they did not have all the necessary information to make that decision. Then you have control freaks with power over others making decisions based on their own ego causing all sorts of unnecessary problems for everyone beneath them. Then lastly, Maddison's problem. A bunch of males with authority over a younger female, male co workers working around her likely often without any female supervisers or HR trained personell around to stop the "boys will be boys" type attitudes and actions. It's possible untrained supervisors especially males will literally say something along the lines of "boys will be boys stand up for yourself and they won't bother you" which is usually true, but definitely now how you handle this professionally.

I was a day one LTT fan, being a British Columbian myself. But I stopped watching them back in 2017. They got big and they got more snobby. Always found them to be jumping to conclusions. It baffled me how they spent what feels like no time with the product and then give out scathing reviews or sometimes report purely off of stereotypes. I bet many people at LMG quietly appreciated what GN did. They have been asking for a less hectic work flow, asking for time to make better content instead of more content and hoping that they will be able to make videos that they are truly proud of. This may be the catalyst for the change they've been waiting for. Let's not ignore that this is happening during what is already a transition period for LMG as their new CEO assumes more and more of the CEO responsibilities. This week should provide a clear line separating the previous era of LMG and what will hopefully be a successful and better new era.

Steve should've been mentioned in this video. "Thank you for holding us accountable" doesn't mean much when you refuse to name who's doing it. GN handled this professionally and Linus accused them of bad journalistic integrity. That should've been part of this apology. Remember that Steve was the first one to alert Linus about the channel hijack a few months back.

All I'm going to say regarding this debacle is that I used to watch every LTT video from beginning to end when they came out. Recently, there are so many videos coming out every day that I barely watch them at all and occasionally I will watch about 1/3rd. As the age old saying goes: Quality over Quantity. I hope this starts to make them realise that the reason we loved LTT was because it was entertaining, resourceful, and quality content. Now it's just content. Lots and lots of content
@bradenmcg Жыл бұрын
I think much of that is because KZbin pays on views, and the more content you have, the easier it is to show up in the suggested list and thus the more views you get. Plus, the more videos they put out that are "sponsored" privately, the more money they get from that as well. Slowing down their output almost certainly leads to lower revenue, which is a problem when you employ as many people as they do now.
@MeneIwen Жыл бұрын
My watch history and red bars under videos says it all : I watch now 1/10th on video releases. That's facts, not bias. It's just too much releases. I always keep watching as high priority new important products like new CPUs, GPUs, ect, but videos that are more fun like "I bought my dream car" are full skipped cause there's just too much to consume and I have to make choices. I wanted to write something similar. Despite the LTT people themselves (probably) being sincere, this whole video just feels totally corporate and they can't hide that anymore ... The real killing point here is that this video was shot, edited, and apparently fact checked all in less than 24 hours. Since fast turn around is part of their problem, I find the video to be hilarious in many ways. Heavily scripted, the new CEO in particular isn't use to reading from cue cars or teleprompter type things, he is having difficulties with it. That Linus himself spends much of his segment blaming others and making excuses isn't helping here. It is the ultimate corporate "trying to get ahead of the story" move. it's so obvious and so badly done.
