Have you finished homeschool this year? Any fun plans for summer? What great book or books do you plan on reading this summer?

"Winter is coming" here - we are reading "the last Bear", and "an illustrated treasury of Swedish Folk and Fairy Tales" by John Bauer with his stunning artwork... What an utterly tragic end for him and his family, and a stunning collection of his works in his memory.

We will be checking out Magical Animal Rescue and Dragon Masters. My daughter loves the Wrenly series! She is on book 5 or 6.

I have the same issue with Brave Writer. I wish I could just find some really good literary analysis guides with comprehension questions so we can pick our own books. I'm trying a few in the new year, so hopefully we like one.

I listened to a great talk by Sarah MacKenzie from Read Aloud Revival (it was on KZbin) titled "My Favorite 3-step Alternative to Literature Curriculum" and it helped me think about literature curriculum differently. Not sure if it would interest you, but I got a lot from it.

Yes we had issues with mathseeds too - my son was capable of doing math at a level years ahead - but it wouldn't let him progress because he couldn't spell the name of the numbers, at the time he couldn't even say the numbers due to a neurological speech disorder - but his been obsessed with numbers and math since he was around 1.5 and was completely capable of moving up if it wasn't a requirement to spell the numbers - very frustrating.
